Hi all im a returning player and bought HoT for the new raids but I’m having same struggle that makes me quit for the first time… I don’t know what class to play. Right now im struggling to play Warrior or Revenant or Mesmer and this is my Pro and Cons…

Pro Con
Warrior – Great sword, Survival Just a might stacker
Revvy – Perma Buffs, Dual swords No Great Sword, Survivalist like warrior?
Mesmer – Clones, Chronomancer? Squishy like elementalist

I saw everyone on high levels and love each but I dunno what to play and keep the fun. I got the Warrior already on 80 and I want to get my hands on a ascended great sword but dont know what to do… Maybe you can clear my mind

Recently I decide to return to GW2 and bought the expansion but now I cant play the game properly. It lags as hell when I rotate the cam and I try all the settings and gives me the same error. Others games like GTA 5 and others don’t give me any video lag at all.

I’m on the same system (AMD Six core with a GTX 760 and 8GB RAM) and never got any problems until now that I decide to return.

Here’s a video showing what I mean.

Level 29 is bugged.

On new alts when you reach level 29 all the XP gets greatly reduced. In EOTM I’m getting like 29-50 XP per cap. Seems gets fixed on level 30.

EoTM/Event exp nerfed HUGELY in Sep Update?

True, when I leveled my guardian I get like 1,400 or more xp every time we cap a Keep. Now with the warrior I get around 80 XP per Keep while Im at level 29 so theres something to be fixed.

My mass confusion with the classes.

Ok I been days trying to get started again and don’t know what to play but after testing the classes here my thoughts. Please share with me your thoughts so I can decide what to play. (Maybe I’m overthinking)

Guardian
My very first class I take to 80 before deleting to change servers for free. As most know the HP is low but have a vast of healing skills but hit like a wet noodle (I read that somewhere). While the guardian is the support on a party by giving defensive boons and use defensive skills you don’t really don’t do anything else. I remember in most dungeons all I do was Wall of Reflection and that’s it. I got pretty bored about it and that’s why I didn’t suffer when I delete it but this have stop me from playing other classes. In WvW well mostly got killed by just getting looked at.

Warrior
The Champ of OP. Press 2 to Win. Everything that the Warrior use give massive damage output and the defense is by “nature”. The warrior is the other side of the Guardian, mass damage and high HP. The only bad I can say is there’s too much weapon change.

Engineer
While there’s no weapon change you get use a vast of kits but lets say you own the legendary weapon, you don’t really show off because you mostly be using the flamethrower or the grenades. Love them in WvW to see them kicking people off edges but for me is kinda hard to use.

Elementalists
I try it and fail big time with it. Too much changing elements for mass control. Honestly I dislike it.

Mesmer
The Trademark of GW. A pretty fun class to play with because when you confuse the enemy you feel in total control of the battle. The only bad thing is the low defense and if you get caught you just die and I know what much are gonna say “If the enemy know who you are then you’re not playing the mesmer the way it should be”

Necromancer
Is the only class I really haven’t played yet but I heard that condition necromancers are deadly plus those wall of fear are perfect to destroy zergs at WvW.

Ranger
While the pet becomes the tank I dont really like rangers. I feel them somewhat boring.

Thief
Never like them on any game.

Those are my thoughts of each class and haven’t really start playing because I really dunno which one to choose and don’t feel like I’m not doing anything.

So what to play?

I recently switch from Darkhaven to Tarnished Coast server by deleting my character (A 80 Guardian) but recently I feel like Guardians are so under power vs a Warrior that have all this HP and Power. I try a Warrior but the Whirlwind attack is not as the Guardian and you don’t know how many time I fall off from EOTM because of it. As a Guardian you have the leap of faith that automatically jump to your target and the Whirling you can move somewhat but with the Warrior you have the Whirlwind attack that is a line of attack that you can’t really stop it but love the hundred blades (like people say “Press 2 to win”). My main problem is that I like heavy armor, I like to be in front of the battle but I don’t wanna feel squashy. So in your position as a PVE/WvW (WvW as Roaming average players) player, what’s better Warrior or Guardian. Remember this come from somebody who already played a Guardian to the max but have problems switching to Warrior and feel somewhat squashy in battle.

Very very informative guide and he even got the time to sit down and teach me the basics of pvp. Most players that come from other games (Like me) get on GW2 with the mentality that is gonna be the same healer, tank, dps classes. I was totally wrong since like he said theres no babysitters healing you or taking dmg from you. GW2 is all about what to do to support yourself while you condition your enemy. Thanks Dreamy Abaddon to get some of your time to teach me the basics. Now I just don’t stand in front of the enemy anymore.

Thanks all, I just reach level 60 and look at the Tier 2 Cultural but obviously dont have enough for all the pieces of the armor so I will just update all my parts to 60 from karma vendors and keep going.

Hi first of all I’m new. I have the game since release but was playing other game until I gave up on it. So now I start with GW2 and pick the Guardian as my first character but after reaching level 49 I notice that my character looks more like an NPC while others have this flashy armors and costumes. Is there a way to buy better armor than the ones that NPC and Trade Market sells?
