This is even worse than hobosack in the fact that It’s up there all the time
Totally,It just doesn’t fit my theme of character while I really like these hammer skills. this doesn’t mean it has to be totally hidden all the time.and be more akin to backpiece/headgear where you can tick the box to hide or show
Other than that, function gyro needs a serious improvement. It’s really hard to use and target especially in large zerg group where people stacked up and lot making it difficult to target the downed one. and bring back beta icon so we knows when the gyro is up
They removed hobosacks just to give us another fashion constraint..
I’d say that there was some kit that hobosack did better than current one such as bomb-kit(which if you’re a charr or norn,it will look like your big bomb on your hand is diposing ‘mini bombs’).
The good thing about hobosack is that if you swapped to your mainhand it would be gone, but the gyro is always there
I know that’s currently impossible in-game,but I feel like sometimes the orange gyro which has to float around the scrapper doesn’t match with my character design much.
so It might be great if we have the option to hide function gyro(and then call it out with extra skill icon, the icon might always be there so you can see the cool down),at least when out of combat. but if you’d like to keep it then that should be possible too.
The truth is I didn’t like the name Dragon Hunter from the moment I heard it… Seams a bit immature. Sounds more like a description or a tittle and not a class name… are we all Dragon Hunters after all?
An idea would be to name him just Hunter, but this sounds too simplistic to me. So, I searched for hunter synonyms and I came across two very interesting names:Venator > hunter in Archaic
&
Shikari > the one who leads the hunt
I like this one
Really,my problem with Dragonhunter lies on the world ‘dragon’ and has nothing to do with ‘hunter’.
I’ve said about it once, but this topic doesn’t seem to be much discussed here compared to typical ‘we are all dragonhunters!’ argument. (or maybe I’ve missed something,I am too lazy for all these 42 pages)
Dragonhunter is too specified and too situational,it brings the feeling that they are here just because of the current event, and serves no purpose after everything has been sorted out(eg. we somehow defeated all dragons or any situations that stop them from wiping us out)
and one post was stated jokingly that Dragonhunters probably wouldn’t help someone being attacked by centaurs because they are not their goals :P
I think it’s ok if they wanted to move the class closer to ranger’s style, wanted to have ‘hunter’ themes. but the names shouldn’t be focused on ‘What to kill’ but rather ‘How to kill’ just like any other elites
Still,it’s up to Anet decision and I’m still waiting for their news
we are fighting a lost cause now,I still hate the name but as there are a couple of videos and livestream released I doubt they will eventually change that
actually, even only ‘Hunter’ works for me,if they really can’t drop the hunter theme.
Anything new from Anet?
Anything with dragons will do
As much as I dislike him when compared to the sudden death of Tybalt. I don’t find him ‘stealing the spotlight’ as everyone claims Trahearne to do anyway. it is something that needed to be done due to nature of MMO storytelling. that we have our different characters and not everyone can be listed as leader of the pact.
Anet could have written a better character, but it had to be someone that took our place anyway.
It doesn’t seem that we have any hope left for name-change as there hasn’t been any post from Anet since Jon’s.
but at the same time Dragonhunter still doesn’t sound right. my only problem with it is it is too ‘specific’ and that they are supposed to kill only dragons and not anything else.
As much as I hate ‘Dragonhunter’ name. Paragon doesn’t seem to work here better either because it was a specific profession in GW1 which shouldn’t be lumped together with GW2 Guardian. and we might get it later if they decided to do Elona expansion. (and we don’t really get an actual spear here)
I don’t really mind traps or gameplay. but the name is a really a put off for me
