Guild Wars 2

Since I can’t simply bump, I’ll add to this ‘discussion’ by giving little stories about how this manages to frustrate me on a daily basis. (Luckily a mod was reading, I’m genuinely surprised someone looked!)

Today we have an sPvP story – not tournament, as that would be a disaster that would only have me yelled at – imagine having a teammate disconnect and be unable to join back!

This evening in a series of matches my team was having some issues with a very tanky elementalist that somehow managed to do more damage than most elementalists I’ve come across! I actually watched him 2v1 and 3v1 (though he got help at the end) from the Clocktower. (I really should have begged the build off him) I was busy trying out the flamethrower changes on my engineer, and I was having a lot of trouble with this guy too. After about the fourth match of getting wailed on by this guy, I finally managed to almost take him down! As I ran back into range to down him, I suddenly disconnected, never to know the satisfaction of slaying a sworn foe! Luckily I was in a decent mood and only considered breaking my monitor in two for a split second. This would have stopped my chances no matter what, but having to rejoin a match and never see the guy for another chance only added insult to injury.

I hope this was constructive enough for you! If I don’t get yelled at I’ll continue to post stories until I see/ get pointed at an instance where this issue has been commented on!

PS Is there a way to search the dev tracker? I couldn’t find a way for the life of me.

Currently, I am unable to fully or even partially enjoy a great deal of this game without running into a huge frustration. This game has a terrible way of handling with disconnects, and it is literally ruining my experiences with Guild Wars 2. As is, there is no ‘grace period’ for disconnecters. Rather, if you are disconnected, you are kicked out of whatever you are doing. For example, if I disconnect from a story, I must redo that ENTIRE story quest, all the way from the beginning. Heaven forbid I disconnect again – I’ve had to do story quests 4 times before simply giving up and never doing another story quest, thus ripping away part of the experience I paid for when I purchased this game.

This problem also manifests in WvW – if in queue for WvW, I will be kicked out from the queue completely upon disconnect, meaning I essentially never get into WvW due to insanely massive wait times to even participate at all that are being reset by my occasional disconnecting. To make matters worse, once inside WvW, if I disconnect, I am kicked completely out of the map and force to requeue, with no grace period at all.

Though less annoying, this also applies to SPvP – disconnect in a match, and you are simply kicked from it and have to secure a new match.

As things currently are, I feel abused as a player. While surely most do not experience as common disconnecting as I do, surely some players are disconnecting and experiencing these issues? This issue is irritating and taking out a huge chunk of my enjoyment of the game. Are there plans to fix this, or should I simply quit this game now? I will never be able to enjoy it to the fullest as things are.
