@Slayer thank you again, I will be sure to look through that as well.
@J Eberle thank you for you comment as well, very informative. I understand that there simply isn’t a build that excells at all aspects of the game. Since I like a bit of everything, I’ll have to learn swapping between builds. I still need to get back into the game a little more, it’s been a long time, to get a full grasp of all the in-depth information, but I’m sure I’ll get there again.
I’ll read through everything the two of you said and suggested, will make my way to 80 while experimenting a little bit and then make my decisions on what builds I ultimately want to go with.
sounds like you want to bunker my friend. An a-bomb of an ele getting your team down? No worries just hide in the guardian’s bunker and weather out that storm and when the rain and flames die down jump out and kill their kitten.
Bunker! That sounds awesome, the way you describe it. I guess I know what I’m going to look into first then. Thanks for the suggestion.
Anything I should generally keep in mind, anything I definitely need to have or anything else that you could recommend me before I start looking for bunker-related information?
Hey everyone,
I’ve played Guild Wars 2 for a while when it was first released and leveled a Ranger to level 80 as my first character. I never really did anything after that with the char and soon after I took a long break and I have now decided to get back to the game. I’ve read some guides about the most significant changes and updates and I decided I wanted to start all over with a new character. I tried out Mesmer, Engineer, Necromancer and Guardian and after leveling them all to about level 30, I decided I want to carry on with my Guardian.
I’ve already read through some guides and builds, but I am really struggling to decide what build(s) may suit me best and therefore I am reaching out to you guys to ask for advice. I am also finding it hard to tell what builds still work and which don’t, as some of the builds that seem popular are from over a year ago and might already be outdated. I’m really just a little bit lost and I’m looking for help to get on the right track!
The main thing I am looking for is survivability. Some damage is nice, but ultimately I want to be that annoying guy that just never dies and messes with his opponents. I am the kind of player that likes to read my opponents moves and play with the kind of “Action-Reaction” style. I like sPvP, but I mostly play that for fun. I mainly want to focus on both WvW and Dungeons. I have never done fractals (I’m not even sure if that was there when I first hit 80) and this is something I also want to try out.
I’ve read about high defense builds, healing builds and supportive builds, but I am looking for a build with the following priorities for both PvE and PvP content:
-It makes me extremely hard to kill without fully focusing on me
-It makes it fairly hard to kill my allies
-It allows me to bug my opponents with crowd control effects
What weapon combination would be best for this, what traits and what skills?
What gear does suit me best?
What dungeon(s) do I need to grind for the best armor sets/components?
What upgrade components do I need and what do I have to do for them?
What else do I need to know to prepare myself to be good at my role in both WvW and Dungeons/Fractals?
Meanwhile I will be reading through some other guides to help me getting started, but any advice would be appreciated!
