Nope CC is not a problem. Look at the perspective of the enemy. What can an enemy zerg throw at you that can stunlock you? Grav well, corrupted stab, shocking aura, necro elite etc. can be easily countered. Number 1 is positioning. I usually play ele and necro in my guild’s organized run and I am one of the last ones to die. Why? Because i know where to stand when to dodge and my very important get out of jail skill that i always have. My mentality in a zerg is that the guardian stab is a luxury I don’t trust it to be always available. I have lightning flash on my ele to insta get me in a safe position and one stunbreak for my necro plus i immeadiately go to shroud when i know i will get bombed to soak the damage.

Last is experience. I used to play full zerk staff ele pre HoT even without the power creep back then you can still imagine how squishy it is to play full zerk. That is where I learned how to survive by proper positioning cause now i play full cele tempest ( i hate minstrels too boring) and run boonstrip marauder necro these 2 builds are not as tanky as others but i don’t complain about stunlocks and getting bombed. Why? Because they are an upgrade to my full zerk build when it comes to survivability so i can play more relaxed now and more importantly I don’t complain when I die during a clash cause I know it’s my fault for not playing better because the game already gave me my get out of jail skills and I didn’t utilize it.

Also try roaming and dueling other people more. It helps in the long run because it improves your muscle memory and helps with class matchup awareness

Don’t expect to be welcomed in an organized guild zerg unless the commander knows and trusts you to run thief but still in most cases you become the dedicated keep tapper.

Vault / bound thief is fine. Condi thief on the other hand is manageable but still needs to be toned down. The only thing I’m worried about though when there is a condi thief on the other team are my teammates cause there is usually that one guy who just stands there and eats all the condi thief’s condi application.

Hi. I am from ele forums and just want to thank all warriors for taking the spotlight off us. But seriously i think the QQ forum nerf team is the main advisor of aner balance team.

I am sure people can vouch for me about a toon named “Uberineer” who lurks around in gold division. He always does the same thing. Drops the engi smoke field in base over and over again before start of game and he always caps home at the start of the match. He is also apparently doesnt need food or rest if he is human cause he is playing pvp almost 24/7. Bad thing also is that he is always offline so I can’t dodge queue him. At least have the decency to put your bot online so we can dodge you.

Sadly i recognize his/her account cause Ithilwen used to be my guildie. Which is more sad cause he/she has been playing pvp alot but is unable to progress because of maybe personal barrier?

Please OP I have seen countless of posts by you complaining about matchmaking and other pvp stuff maybe you should get out of your comfort zone and try other stuff or find a good duel partner so you can get better. First time I joined an AT i was whispered a few moments before closing of registration by my friend. We stomped every team till quarterfinals when we were matched against top players who rolled us over but for me it was a fun experience and it motivated me to get better. We didnt even use TS or discord btw cause it is a spur of the moment team. Let me tell you about this friend that invited me. I used to be higher ranked than him and i taught him a few stuff about rotations and matchups and guess what he is now ranked higher than me( mid plat now I think) cause what he did is that he got out of his comfort zone and played almost all classes like i told him to just to learn the basics of other classes rotations etc. What fascinated me is my friend was able to get better in only a few months and you OP who has been playing for a long time got overtaken by him. He only has 4k AP atm and only been playing for less than a year. So TLDR please OP get out of your comfort zone and take a look at yourself first because most guys know you in this forum already as the mesmer player who is somehow the most unlucky player in pvp matchmaking. Record a video of how you play show it to us so we can help you.

This is fine. GW2 is out for quite awhile now. It’s like anet saying " Time to grow up boysssss~". I’d rather have this fight than an easy one that i won’t even feel any sense of satisfaction beating. Like the old boss fights where you just stand there, dodge sometimes , whoops i got hit time to heal i guess kind of battles. This is way better. Keep it up anet.

So i bought the key from noran, entered the hidden bookshelf entrance and finished to the very end and got the achievement. I decided to look at my inventory and noran’s key is still there along with the oil that i got so i decided to combine them so it became the oiled version. I thought i must’ve missed another chest at the very end so i decided to come back but the oiled version of the key won’t let me in on the bookshelf anymore. So is this intentional? Do i have to wait another day for reset just to buy the normal key again?

Yes i totally agree with what you guys said. Especially the dying on node thing. Alot of players seem to think that standing on node during the first mid fight just to contest it is the only way to go even though he is eating all the AoEs, range attacks, bombs etc. and gets 100-0 in seconds. Alot of people seem to think that it should be a fight to the death and running away / kiting is not in their vocabulary.

There is also the infinite roll bug on skyhammer launch/jump pads. For example you shadow shot on thief and before the dagger hits you use the jump pad. What will happen is that you will get stuck in the tumbling animation forever unless someone from the enemy team pushes or pulls you out of that rolling hell. Can also be triggered with mesmer’s second sword 3 port.

Here we go again with people bashing nothelseth for something something blah blah. Shouldve done it with blah. He should be blindfolded and using one hand only. Blah blah blah. Get over yourself bronze gods. He just proved that elo hell can be beaten by playing good. So practice some more and try not to use your legendary title if you are in bronze / silver. I actually like this season because players now really care if they win or lose that is why this is the saltiest pvp season ever and I can say from personal experience that my gameplay have improved than this season than all previous season combined.

That is why as a thief i always have shadowstep ready when i get hit by the f1. You can also run away because it only pulls at a certain distance. Hide behind a wall or LoS and lastly dont get hit. Also fyi taunt and fear is condi so you can cleanse it with signet of agility. Goodbye taunt.

I’m a bronze player who crawled myself to gold. I admit i am just average but i try to emulate how Helseth carries a game and it improved my gameplay. But sometimes I can’t carry like him when there many clueless players in our team so I had to resort to blocking them and dodge queuing them. This video is actually very helpful if you look at it in the right way and helseth may appear like a kitten to you but I find his kitteniness very funny and to be honest he actually really cares about the pvp comminity.

Maybe anet doesn’t have the code yet for it cause the normal ascended armors change skin when you change its stats. What will anet’s decision be? For the ascended armor in pvp to change skin or not cause they are not suppose to go into the skin collections.

I have read somewhere that overtime is still a little bit clunky. There have been other victims bro. You’re not the only one.

I got placed in silver 2 or 3 i think in mmr placement. Went down as low as bronze 3. Now i’m up to gold 1. Through all these crap i have to crawl through I couldve popped a vein already due to anger at other players. Now i have achieved inner peace. I don’t get angry anymore during matches. So for example i want to make a gift of fortune and i have lots of t5 mats. Would it be more cost efficient to buy for stacks of Crystalline Dust and convert them or just straight up buying the t6 mats from the tp.

I know a guy who went to pvp just for the ascended stuff. He doesn’t even know how to open the build tab and just went in. He was wondering why he was getting flamed so much. I mean if you are going to play in ranked at least be respectful right? This is the same guy that wants his wvw guildmates or even other people to use meta builds. I have never cringed so much in all my time playing gw2 after seeing this guy.

Maybe tweak ANET’s algorith in calculating mmr placement or bring back win streaks even if they start at 5+ wins so others can get out their mmr hell easier. Speaking of dota 2 my mmr placement there put me in 2.5k bracket but i can play with the 4k+ mmr bracket well using my friend’s account. Long story short there are people out there like me who have bad luck in placement matches and people like us need a bit of help getting out of the lower brackets like what i just said perhaps winstreak bonuses would help alot even if ANET don’t fix mmr placement matches

Hmm okay. So if i remember correctly there was a soft reset in mmr this season but they also factor your previous mmr in calculating mmr placement? Is that why some people was placed in higher division than me with the same win ratio or is it because they played better during their placement matches?

So guys i main elementalist and used it for my placement matches. Got 7W 3L and in all of my matches of course i can only get top healer. The game put me in mid silver 2. So what do you guys think will happen if i have used my thief for my placement matches and played it optimal (+1ing / decapping / moving alot through the whole game) will the game put me in a higher mmr? I’m just curious cause i got almost 80% win ratio when playing my thief now and i regret not using him in my placement matches

I also noticed that the wins that is showing in the tab : Games played / games won and from the friends and guild tab is not the same. Mine says that i won the game from that dc because i gained a win but from the friends tab it shows that i got a loss. I need symmetry!!!

The piercing light nerf on DH does not say pvp only so i expect wvw and pve too?

If you get a full set of ascended armour you can also switch it to necro if you find the play style not to your liking and use it in PvE. I use berserker runes and nearly full vipers on my necro as I use it in a variety of places not just raids. If I were to ever want to play this build I’m also lucky enough to have the legendaries needed to run it mostly.

Crafting an exotic set isn’t that expensive either, about 63s for the black diamonds needed per insignia, think the highest cost is actually the leather for the patches lol. Viper ascended trinkets are also very useful in general if you raid or just want to play different builds so would recommend getting some and the sinister stuff from living world season 2 to slot in to prevent going over 100% duration.

So how is viper mesmer in wvw roaming? Anyone tried it? How does it compare to dire/trailblazer?

Any decent player or maybe any player in their right mind would not farm pips this way. If you are playing rank anyways i would assume that you would have the decency not to do this.

I used to run on my DH in fractals and decided to give revenant a try. The almost constant fury uptime plus boons are great but what really made me stay on rev is the break bar capability. You can 100 to 0 a breakbar with a single staff 5 use along with shiro/glint elite and with proper rotations you can break the bar on your own constantly. Never looked back to other classes since then.

I’d have no problem if they just deleted the thiefs as a class. It’s a very badly implemented class with zero penalty whilst in stealth and zero penalty for reveal. If ‘stealth’ actually meant you had to sneak around to not be detected then great. And the classic thief response of ‘wave your weapon around and hope to contact’ whilst they await cooldowns and pop back out at full HP to have another go with their macro whilst your defences are all still on cooldown or you’re still regaining HP from the last macro having blown your main heal on the 15k damage from the first one…

Personally I find thiefs annoying just because they can pop in and out of stealth at will, plus dodge like it’s going out of fashion when you can see them, whilst moving around like a pinball.

Not many can kill me unless they bring friends (which they usually do) or get really lucky on their first macro when I’m not paying attention as i tend to run quite tanky support builds in wvw, but the whole stealth mechanic plays wrong for me. There should be a penalty in the form of slower movement speed so stealth= sneak or be noticed.

I suggest you put in yourself in the position of the thief before you complain. Do you know how much nerf they got. Btw i despise ghost condi thieves they make me want to vomit but they are easily countered. I suggest if you are really having a bad time thieves then try making one. Once again for all of here who says thief is OP and very easy to play then try to play as thief if you can. In short this is a l2p issue.

If you like dps go half berserker half cele. If you like damage/healing power go crusader. Going full cele has never been optimal in wvw even before HoT.
