Thanks, Trogdor – I have browsed through the stickied posts but was unaware that this was a rule. Can you refer me to where I can read more about this?

Obviously we are all just trying to help in a frustrating situation.

Just chiming in here as well. I can confirm as a leader and active member of this player’s guild that she has not been seen online for at least a month. Her absence has been missed, in fact! She has been a member of my guild for nearly two years and I have never had any reason to doubt her character. She has always been friendly and respectful, as evidenced by the above post (which her sister posted for her). It’s frightening to imagine returning from a break from the game to find your account terminated with no specifics as to why.

I sincerely hope we are able to get some attention to this issue. I feel that she deserves more detailed information about her ban at minimum, so if possible she can furnish information to try to restore her account.

I think one of the largest issues facing any guild or player looking for a guild is finding a guild that you want to join or finding members that you want to retain.

How do other social groups match people together? How do you meet like-minded people in real life.

For guilds, I think the answer will be multifaceted (based on the purpose of the guild). While all guilds are inherently social, some are less focused on the appeal of their social experience and more on the content they specialize in.

I run a social guild, so it’s easy to pick up new members from meeting fun people in dungeons/world events. We try to be a guild that helps new players, so periodically we’ll recruit new players (who are very easy to find). The social component is our biggest selling point so we are very much out there socially. In this sense, guilds which serve a more niche social community would benefit from a search function which helps people 1) know they exist, and 2) get in touch.

In contrast, for more content-oriented guilds, people know what they want primarily in terms of the content/goals it lets them achieve rather than the initial social experiences they have w/ guild members. In Conski’s example, he or she might have prioritized the content of the clubs rather than the social experience. If I was looking for an elite dungeon running guild, I would be interested in their performance in that content area rather than their personality as a group.

Expanding on this, I think any guild+player matching system would need a few features:

  • Broad categories for starting a search
  • Fine-tuned descriptors perhaps? (Dungeons, Leveling, World Bosses, Casual/Hardcore, etc)
  • Description
  • Specific policies which most guilds will have to some degree (e.g. rep requirements)
  • Contact info
  • Application info if applicable

Possible additional things guilds might like to share on a recruitment board could include:

  • Links to sites which feature the guild’s performance if that is relevant (livestreams, guild website, etc). This might appeal more to content-oriented guilds.
  • Open events (e.g. guild missions as a recruitment tool and a way for prospective members to scope out the group socially). This might make more sense for a social-oriented guild.

What are the 3 top QOL features you think Guild Halls could provide that maybe couldn’t exist otherwise? Try not to list features that are beyond QOL, but I won’t hold it against you because its hard to do.

Here are a few ideas about QoL improvements that guild halls could facilitate:

[ Organization ]

  • Calendar
  • Posting boards managed by guild officers which allow members to organize for events (e.g. listing of what dungeons people need for DM achievement) or other fun things (contests, etc.).
  • Space to assemble for guild missions, events, training sessions, etc.
  • Consistent and logical place in the game to drop buffs, consumables, etc so guildies know where they might be able to find those things immediately on login
  • Posted lists of who in the guild is interested in certain categories of content (this could also/instead be in the guild panel) – general PvE/dungeons, leveling, training newbies, WvW, PvP
  • List of new recruits so interested guildies can get to know them!
  • Guild policies or requirements in a centralized spot for new members (currently my guild stores ours on our website, which takes effort to maintain and is rarely visited by new members who need the info the most)
  • Dedicated spot for RP, which is harder for RP folks w/ the megaserver

[ Convenience ]

  • Crafting areas which unlock when members have contributed x number of 400/500 level crafting mats
  • Gathering point for a variety of events
  • Unlockable entrance to HotM and/or guild custom arena (if one exists)
  • Unlockable entrance to WvW maps
  • Guild bank

[ Guild Pride! ] okay, not totally QoL, but still important!

  • Place to display guild achievements, upgrades, and the like
  • Display of guild banners for alliance guilds (hint hint!)
  • Various cosmetic/convenience hall unlocks (using dungeon tokens, karma, commendations, fractal relics, badges of honor, or any other currency items) which members contribute towards and have their contributions shown

Proposal Overview
Guild alliance system to allow multiple friendly guilds to share common features and build an allied community.

Goal of Proposal
Currently, allied guilds are forced to employ special ranks and cross-guild membership to coordinate events. For instance, my guild of 200+ members and another medium-sized guild on SBI are allied. Several leaders and officers in my guild (myself included) maintain an ambassador-type rank in our allied guild, and vice versa. If we want to group up for an event, coordinate dungeon runs, or just enjoy each others’ company (which we do – hi WwCd!) we have to arrange for invites for members and all meet up in one guild/chat channel.

Guild alliances would streamline this process by increasing communication and interaction between members of allied guilds. It would remove the requirement of having members of one guild belong to the other guild within their own specific rank (which, frankly, looks a little bad when you look at the guild roster and half your “members” aren’t representing). More importantly, it would bring more players together and build communities. Aww, friendship!

Proposal Functionality
I suggest a structured guild alliance system within the existing guild framework. Alliances could have a certain cost to form and require officers and/or leaders from at least 2 guilds to create (signing the alliance charter or some such). Alliances should have features common to all member guilds, such as chat channel, specialized permissions, and cross-alliance buffs that cost more to unlock but benefit all alliance members. I would also love to see alliances have a shared calendar & message space, and that leaders of allied guilds have the ability to message all alliance members at once (however, these are not currently features of guilds – although I believe those would be beneficial features, that is a topic for a separate post).

Associated Risks
Possible spam between allied guilds which might lead to conflict (although good guilds should be capable of handling this). Big guilds might merge into bigger alliances, and this might… upset people somehow? Honestly, I imagine the ability to form alliances as a pretty low impact feature. It would aid in communication and bring guild-based communities closer together. Any risks associated with more people interacting more might apply here, though.

Great work recording these data and collaborating across multiple guilds for higher accuracy and overall sample. This is really compelling, and I hope that Anet takes a close look.

Can we get an update on this, please? I’d love an answer on whether or not those of us who purchased wine will receive a refund. I’m also quite surprised that there is no in-game notification to players to hold off purchasing Elonian wine, as it is still for sale at the bugged price. I don’t imagine most players are aware that this is even an issue. Thanks.

T6 Dust Crisis

Just because it’s used a lot, doesn’t mean it should have the lowest cost. If it’s rarity is the same as the other T6 mats, and it’s used more, logically it should actually cost more.

I think the point (perhaps not originally stated very clearly) is that if it’s used in so many recipes, it should be less of a rare drop. That has a common sense logic. Sugar is called for in most cookie recipes and doesn’t cost $100. If it did, no one would make cookies. Anet is giving us these little potion recipes and then asking for a very expensive resource to make them.

Especially the way dust is used in this game (in many many of the high-level recipes) makes this a huuuge problem. I’m waiting for the day when there are no crystalline dusts left in the tradingpost. That will be aweful.

I doubt that day will come, because there were enough people (I imagine) who bought the bulk of the supply when Anet nerfed the Union farm that they will dole it out a little at a time at 38s apiece or higher.

I sort of understand the anti-farming philosophy, but Anet seems to be turning a blind eye to the resulting market manipulation. People will hoard dust even more than they were before, which doesn’t allow the market to shake things out naturally.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to call this a crisis.

[SBI] Join our alliance of small guilds!

in Guilds

Posted by: Jaia.4219

Jaia.4219

Like your solo play or small guild of friends? So do we. But we also want a chance at experiencing tasty new guild content! Freelancers of Stormbluff [FRST], located on Stormbluff Isle, is a rapidly growing alliance of little guilds and solo players coming together for a common goal: getting the big content for all of our small guilds, together.

Rather than sacrificing our small group of long-time friends and joining one of the large server guilds, we founded FRST to share leadership and influence with the many little guilds (and solo players) in our community. In the absence of a formal alliance system in-game, we’re looking to recruit more entire small guilds. This lets us pool influence by playing with our friends like we otherwise would, with the added bonus of having more likeminded people to do the big stuff with too. Players who plan to bring over their small guild will be promoted to officer status so they can invite their members.

No requirements. We expect that you’ll wanna rep your other guild, and that’s perfectly fine! We also hope you’ll rep us when you can, & our members are always up for partying for events, dungeons, WvW, and whatever else.

Join us if any of these things describe you:

- You want a casual, laid-back guild to play with
- Your little guild wants to stay intact and still have a chance to build enough influence for guild missions
- You’re happy playing solo, but you still want the advantages of belonging to a guild (especially one that won’t hassle you about playing solo!)
- You’re a new player & you want a friendly group to show you the ropes
- You want a guild where it’s fine that you’re an introvert/casual/not into huge zergs and gear checks

We are helpful to new players, & welcoming of players of all playstyles & walks of life. Our members have diverse interests, and regularly run dungeons, fractals, sPvP, and WvW, so you’ll always have a laid-back group to play with, however you like!

We hope you’ll join us! At the moment, membership is open. You can get more information on our site at FRST.enjin.com, or by messaging Jaia Shadowless or Jimmy the Trickster in-game.
