It’s also really out of spvpers way to rebuy exotic gear/runes/sigils. “as most of us are dirt poor”. There are also a lot of spvpers who just plainly do not have gear past cheap masterworks to begin with. You may want to consider doing this in a custom arena if you want more joins. Either legacy mid or forest on beach.

You need to make this convenient for players who are already concerned with farming for pips/guild ladder. Also, your prize pot will probably not even be enough to cover the cost that spvpers will use to buy the gear they need to compete in your tournament “if they even win”.

Truthfully, most players (even PvPers. I am a HARDCORE PvPer and I certainly do) should have a set of exotics, if not the gold to get it. I also feel as though you may have a very warped sense of what a set of exotics costs. 4,000 Gems is probably enough to buy every level 80 that you have a full set of exotics.

Can you please add a voting option for players who go over the time limit? Kind of like boxing where you can clearly see which person gave out the best blows throughout a fight. The judge (the mod’s) would elect a victor.

I feel that if I take the other person down to 20% health but I never go below 50%, then I should be the victor

I actually made an addendum on the Battlefy page. There was going to be a referee in the first place, but me and my team have decided that making judgement calls based upon performance is our best bet.

There has been no worse time to host a 1v1 tournament. Power creep in elite specs is so real that majority of them can survive indefinitely with marauder stats.

This is why there are time limits on fights. If a player cannot succeed in killing their opponent in less than four minutes, they have failed as a 1v1er.

We’d like to proudly announce the first annual Dueltide tournament. Dueltide is a single-elimination 1v1 PvP tournament with a Wintersday theme hosted by Synergy. This is the first public tournament of this size that we know of using the guild hall arena. We’re looking forward to the event and hope to see it become a yearly success.

Please see the information below if you are interested in participating in the tournament. There will be a separate post later for players who are interested in spectating the tournament.

The proprietors of the event will work their hardest to make sure that all participants are accommodated. We will do our best to be flexible and as understanding as possible. Be patient with us and we will be patient with you.

Rules:

Upon registration, you must mail your 5g entry fee to JakBenedict.5410

You must check-in and arrive on time and ready to participate in the tournament.

Failure to check-in for the tournament on the tournament date may result in your disqualification.

Please keep in mind that the 12:00 PM start time is in Pacific time.

All of the following rules and guidelines are subject to change.

General Rules

1] All fights will be held in a 1v1 format.

2] All fights will be best 2 out of 3. A win is counted as you completely finishing the other player, not simply downing them.

3] All fights will be done in Exotic gear. Trinkets may be Ascended.

4] No Bunker builds will be allowed. This is for the sake of those participating in the tournament as well as those spectating. See the ban-list below for further details.

4a] Due to the above rule, fights will be limited to 4 minutes each. Should a fight reach time limit and both players are still standing (if one is downed, an exception will be made), the fight will be considered a draw and your next fight will be considered a tie-breaker. Should neither person finish the other in the tie-breaker, both players will be disqualified. The player that would have faced the winner of that match gets a bye.

5] Keep in mind that this will all be held in Synergy [LOL]’s Guild Hall. As such, your build must be available and complete on the PvE-version of your character. This means you must have all of your own gear, runes, sigils, specializations, etc. ready to go. In other words, you will NOT be fighting in PvP gear with amulets, etc. 6] Your entry fee of 5g must be delivered to Totem Benedict (JakBenedict.5410) by the time you register for the Tournament. If, by the time you check-in for the tournament, you have not paid your entry fee, you will not be allowed to participate.

7] You may, at any point, be asked to provide proof of your equipment.

8] Remain courteous and respectful of other participants (even your opponents) as well as spectators and the people running the event. A failure to remain respectful of other players and the guidelines listed here may result in penalization.

9] The proprietors of the event reserve the right to disqualify or eject you from the event for any misconduct or breaking of rules. Your entry fee may not be refunded.

Ban-List

Stat Combinations: Soldiers, Settlers, Clerics, Magi, Celestial, Sentinel, and any others that may be considered for bunker builds.
Skills: Rune of Humility, Rampage, Lich, Elixir X, Well of Precognition, Skills marked with a * may be equipped, but not activated. i.e., you may use Toss Elixir X, but not Elixir X itself.
Traits: Diamond Skin
Runes: Durability, Dwayna, Resistance, Ogre, Pirate

Miscellaneous Rules

1] Between fights (i.e. after your first fight against a player in a round, you realize you need an ability to counter them), you will only be allowed to swap skills or weapons.

1a] Between rounds (i.e after you have won a round and you plan on switching up your build to deal with your next opponent) you will be allowed to change gear, traits, runes, sigils, and anything included in Rule 1.

1b] You will be given 1 minute in between fights to make any changes you may need.

2] You may only play with the one class you registered for the tournament with.

3] Players will only be allowed to have a maximum of two minions. This includes those gained from Runes.

4] Necromancers will be allowed to start each fight with roughly 20% of their Life Force bar filled. Druids will be allowed to have one notch of their Celestial Force bar filled.

5] Absolutely no consumables will be allowed in the arena. This includes non-food/utility consumables like Ash Legion Spy Kits. If you have a food or utility buff prior to entering your match, your match will be postponed until the buff has worn off.

Check-ins for Dueltide will begin 1 hour before the tournament begins. Take this time to contact any of the people below in order to find out how to get into Synergy Guild Hall and clear any last minute questions or concerns.

I am on a desktop.
I am not in power-saver mode or anything like that. I’m in high performance mode.
I have Skype open all the time, but that’s the only thing I can think of. And it has never caused me problems before the February (or April I forget) patch.

Am I allowed to bump threads? <_<

If it is throttling or whatever, what should I do to fix the problem?

EDIT: If it means anything, as soon as I noticed my FPS did this drop thing, I tabbed and checked CoreTemp. All temperatures (Including on GPU-Z) were just fine, however…All of the ‘Load’ reading on each of my CPU cores was at 100%. I’m not sure if that could help figure out what the problem is, but I feel like it’s a piece of the puzzle so-to-speak.

It’s not a heating problem. My temps are pretty normal. I mean, nvidia stuff runs pretty warm all the time, but even then my stuff is fine. I have liquid cooling on my CPU, too.

So I came back to the game a few weeks ago. I took a break for about 7 months. Ever since I came back and patched, I have had this crazy issue/bug/whatever where, at random times (It happens in cities as well as WvW maps, SPvP, Dungeons, and really anywhere.) my FPS will drop to 2 or lower. This lasts for about 40-50 seconds every single time.

It is not a hardware issue, I don’t believe, as the exact same issue occurs when I turn my settings to “Best Performance” or lowest settings or whatever. I’ve ran memory tests and such and everything on my computer seems to be fine, including temperatures.
I sent in a Bug Report but I don’t think ANet will get back to me, and it might not even be a “bug” particularly.

This thing is making it especially hard to do things where I need to keep up with others or fight, such as SPvP or WvW. The times at which it happens are seemingly random. I have no idea what on Earth I am supposed to do to fix this problem.
I ran a repair on the client the other night, and it’s still happening.

I’m on Windows 7, and my hardware has not been changed or updated since I last played 7 months ago before this thing happened.

Please forgive me if anyone has already solved this problem or if this is in the wrong place. I’m just getting rather upset and I’m not sure what else to do.

Alternatives to do while you have so much free time:

> find friends
> introduce friends, girlfriend and colleagues into gw2
> play gw2 with newfound friends, girlfriend and colleagues

Furthermore I know from first hand experience that having not many classes is usually due to failing the year before, often influenced by a videogame. I would strongly recommend breaking that habit if you eventually want to get your degree.

I would just rather not have to establish a brand new friendship/relationship with two-hundred people who don’t really have much of an intention to do the same. It’s whatever, really.

Wow, can’t believe I broke down to using the forums for this one.
Anyway, as my cleverly crafted thread title suggests, I’m looking for a 2-4 people to no life GW2 with. I just always find myself spending so much time in-game, and I end up not really having anyone that wants to keep up with all of the crap I want to do, and I’d rather not do it alone.

I play on Darkhaven, I’m really into doing dungeons and farming them, things like that. I do WvW often, some SPvP, but I tend to stay in PvE stuff. I’ve got two level 80s, one an Elementalist, the other a Warrior.

I’d be looking for someone to do things like what I stated above (Dungeons, farming, grinding, etc.), some leveling, daily things like dragons and whatnot, and general bro’ing around with in-game.

So, if you’re interested in having a no-lifing buddy or three, post here or message me with your in-game info, Skype info if you like, anything like that, yo.
