I hear everyone’s concern with this matter and I have to agree that everyone has to look into this matter closely. We all want our legendary weapons but the price in the market will always go up. The market has always gone up because of updates and upgrades. Remember before how buying gems were cheaper? Its the same idea. Even if we can craft silver doubloons, the materials required to craft them will also go up to have it’s value equivalent to what it is now. Let’s say the value of silver is 1.5 gold right now and in order to craft them we need 2 copper and a dust. The price of copper doubloon will go up to 0.5 g and the dust for another 0.5 gold. I know this because I have been looking at how the market have moved. Charged lodestones for example, the total prices of 2 charged core, 1 elonian wine and 1 crystalline dust is close to or about equal of that 1 charged lodestone. The price of a simple T2 crafting material like wool, bolt of wool is priced at 6 silver and wool scraps at about 2.3 silver. As far is market is concerned, I think that it is moving the way it would. In addition to that I also want to point out that the cash value of these legendary weapons are still the same for those who like to pay to win. What I mean by that is buying gems and converting them to in game gold. As I had said above, the conversion value of gems and gold have gone up which then reflected on the value of items, like silver doubloons, in the game.
In regards to the silver doubloon’s availability. It is pretty accurate. It is a problem for high level character who farm by killing foes to obtain this item as drops/chest are scaled based on the level of the character. Low level characters will benefit from silver doubloon availability because of this. It is fair because high level characters can farm for charged lodestones which low level characters can not. So it’s like high level gets lodestones and low levels get doubloons. Both win in a sense as both materials can be sold and bought on the trading post as players who farm charged lodestone can sell their farm to buy silver doubloons and vice versa. Both spend time and effort equally, more or less.
Lastly, it also would not make sense to have the requirement of vial of quicksilver to be platinum because of its name.
I have to say, I think there is no solution to this problem rather than playing all aspects of the game. This includes playing with the current market and working with the mystic forge. Resetting the market is not even possible because of where it is now, and chances are even if they do, the prices of doubloons would go up in a matter of hours, possibly even minutes.
I would stick to playing hard to get my legendary.
