Thanks for the two replies! I think I’ll just stick with engineers then.

Thanks Esplen for the quick reply!

But in order to please my mind, I’ll wait for more opinions before making a final decision.

Hi guys

I’ve been playing GW2 for about 5 months, and well as the title suggests, all I keep doing is start a character get it to around level 20 or 30 (except engineer which I have only dabbled in) then decide to re-roll. I’ve come to the conclusion that the top two classes I’m thinking of settling as a main is warrior and engineer, but idk which one, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

BTW please can I have no answers similar to “You have more than 1 character slot, make more than one character” because well I’m one of those weird people who represents themselves in every game they play under one name and I do not like my character/s being called anything else but this name. Also I am mainly a pvp kind-of player.

Read below for the reasons why these two classes have been chosen.

While I do not fully enjoy the warriors simple play-style, I have always enjoyed having the image of a heavy armoured guy as my character wrecking kitten up, I’m a sucker for heavy armour looks in most games I play. I have chosen engineer as my other choice as they are really versatile or so I’ve heard. While I know elementalists are also great at versatility, I’ve become too used to their play-style and while I do not play them as a pro or anything like that, I can confidently say while I struggled at 1st to get used to its attunement dancing, I now find them quite easy to play and therefore quite boring and I dont really like the feel of wearing light/cloth armor. I enjoy playing what little time I’ve spent on engineers as I find them difficult to play and that just makes it interesting for me, you can probably tell I’m really into my character’s appearence and well I dont really like what engineers on these forums call the “hobo sack” and that seems to be the only problem I have with engineers at the moment.

Thanks for reading the whole post to those who have

Hope today’s/tonight’s State of the Game chat with the devs show some hope for the warriors and what they plan to do with them, I know planning isn’t the same as implementing but it would still be good to know. Just in case, the details for the State of the Game may 31st can be found here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/State-of-the-Game-May-31-1PM-Pacific

Yes I’d say they are definitely scams and I’ve been receiving them as well, and you can probably tell they are as if you ever click on the links they provide you in the email, you’ll notice the address bar displaying an address that may look like an official arenanet webpage address but with slight “adjustments” such as an added “z” somewhere.

No Signal to/from Monitor

@ ST Babaganosh. Sorry for the confusion i’ve made, there is no signal to the monitor from ANY GPU slot, be it the old or new pc, it’s only the integrated graphics on the older pc that seem to get a signal to the monitor. We cannot see if the integrated graphics work on the newer PC, as it’s been disabled by the PC supplier to accomodate for the graphics card.

I am not able to supply him my monitor as we live quite a distance away from each other.

There are no alarms when the system boots.

Unfortunately he doesn’t have RDP enabled.

Personally, I’m thinking its the monitor being faulty, but I dont wan’t to advise him to buy a new monitor only for it not to solve the problem. :S

Thanks for the reply We tried the monitor on another pc and strangely enough it only works on that PC’s integrated graphics but not discrete. The monitor also works perfectly fine on his laptop too. Btw whats rma?

It looks like your answer is right there. Sometimes monitors fail in such a way that they cannot switch to higher resolution graphics modes.

Also, he is leaving out one of the steps in troubleshooting this problem – try another monitor!

I realize that you said he doesn’t have one, but I’m willing to bet he could borrow one or (at the very least) bring his PC to a shop. It takes no time at all to test that and no repair shop (that’s any good) will charge for that.

Hmmm ok, but how come it was working for half a week on the discrete graphics at first?

Oh and his graphics card in the new PC is the GTX 550 ti, and on the old PC it’s the Radeon HD 5450

@ ST Babaganosh. He can’t, he doesnt have another monitor to test it out. Also, I’m not sure on his PSU details.

@ StinVec + ST Babaganosh. I’ll tell him to give your suggestion a try when I can next contact him, its my brother’s pc not mine and we don’t live in the same house just saying to avoid some confusion. He says when its plugged into the discrete graphics slot of any of the two PC’s he has, there is no picture at all (cant even see the PC load up). It’s only when he plugs it into the integrated graphics on the older PC, can he see anything. He cant use the integrated graphics on the new PC as its been disabled. He is running windows XP on the old PC and windows 7 on the new.

@ hoegarden. He has a 19" monitor.

Hi guys, this is my first post on this forum so bare with me .

My brother has recently bought a new gaming pc, and it has been working for about half a week. He was playing GW2 one day, and all of a sudden he had a black screen on the monitor. The big problem is….. the pc now has a permanent “no signal to monitor” even after switching off and on.

I don’t know if this will help but, we have tried some suggestions from other forums with no success such as :
Unplugging the power cable and holding down the power button for a while;
Reseating the graphics card and RAM
