It’s the fact our work is always devalued because of the people that don’t want to earn anything on this game.

On a serious, and less snarky note, your work… and by work I of course mean play… was not devalued, if you enjoyed it. If you didn’t enjoy it for its own intrinsic rewards, then you’re proving the point of those who thought 400 was a bit much. If you enjoyed it for its actual rewards (an elite spec), then your enjoyment is exactly the same as it was before, and you get to be happy to share that with others.
If neither of these are true, you wanted the elite spec to be a status symbol that you could show off to “those less beings”. In that case, go craft a legendary, go get a really big mastery number to show off… I don’t have much sympathy for you. Go lease a Porsche or something, if you need to prove your self worth by showing it off to others.
Really, you should just be happy that other people are happy. If you enjoyed the work, you have no reason to be bitter that others don’t have to do it.
Rubbish. My first character/main had 213 after Map Completion and thats with maxing everything. at 250 he could have Druid almost immediately. An Elite spec, unlocked, 20 minutes into the release of the new content. thats bullkitten, thats too easy. it should be HARD. you shouldnt come out the gate at 90%. 250 HP to an elite is too easy and I hate that its to easy. Its not special anymore, it doesnt show you mastered Maguuma, multiple zones, and put 40 hero loci of work into your character. it cheapens it.
Bully for you! None of my characters had world completion, so… for your almost immediately, I’m still looking at work. Especially on my mesmer, who has like 30% completion (I had 60 extra points when HoT launched, thats it). NO ONE except a minority is coming “out the gate” with 215 HP.
You know what shows you mastered Maguuma, etc? That little mastery point number by your name. And the fact that, well, YOU know you did. Or did you just want a silly status symbol? Lease a Porsche. Let me play my kitten Reaper, you can go work on a legendary, or work on masteries, you sleep well knowing that you know you don’t suck, because who gives a crap what other people think.
God forbid that I took time off, and cleared my schedule yesterday and today for just this reason. God forbid that I have 13 out of the 15 proofs I need to get where I want to be to do what I want to do, but couldn’t do it anyway.
God forbid that I expect a company, that I just threw $50 at, to communicate with me when they disable a major feature.
And why the hell do you care enough to be snarky to me? Don’t you have better things to do?
FYI, pick the easy to get points in the new PvE area then start in on the WvW levels. You can get 100 points in PvE very quickly.
Not true now. But here’s hoping it will be again someday. Right now the only way to level your elite is PvE.
Its been over 15 hours, with no news except that its because an exploit. Is it going to come back in a timely manner?
Should we expect it today, or tomorrow, or in a week, or month, or months? Sorry for being annoying, but some of us are sitting on exactly what we need to unlock what we need, and its rather frustrating to just be sitting there, waiting.

I’m pretty much done with the game, until they do this.
I would continue working on my Reaper, but I don’t trust Anet enough to know that the items are going to be worth anything when they… maybe… enable it.
I just needed one more skill to get my Reaper to mostly the build I want (minus the last two shouts), so I could finally get into the PvE story like I intended. I was going to idly level my Revenant, and get a bit ahead in HP too… But apparently my day (week? month? year? is now free, thanks Anent).
Can we at least get more information, and a ETA, so I can stop being cynical?
Right now it would take infinite WvW ranks, since there is no way to level your elite spec in WvW, they disabled it (“until further notice”, I’m sure). So the whole discussion is moot.
On the bright side, my real life just cleared up…. until further notice.
There was an exploit. They said they are fixing it.
I’m a bit kittened off too. I was almost done with my Reaper, and was about to take my lowbie Revenant on a EoTM karma train to level up, and grab some HPs before I can take to the jungle…
But nope. And who knows when they will fix it. If it was a PVE issue it would have been fixed the second they knew about it. But being that it lets you progress without grinding mastery points… It might never come back, or come back when PvE players have advanced to an acceptable point…
I’m being cynical. This expansion has left me a bit conflicted. I REALLY want to enjoy the new content, but I want to enjoy it as a Reaper, and not be constantly running around with my eye on the prize (masteries > hero points > elite spec) and basically seeing the content of a hindrance.
I think this probably deserves dev comment. This is a rather big deal.
All I’ve heard is an unsubstantiated rumor about an exploit. Something about people being able to get more HP than they can afford or something. This is from map chat, so take it with a big grain of salt.
Some dev response on this would be very nice. I would like to know if I should be doing WvW anymore or dipping into PVE to grab my last couple skills?
Things are not too grindy at all. Im already 70% done with my elite spec being unlocked and I’ve played for 5 hours between 2 days, I don’t understand how people are having problems with this. The mastery system is great, THIS isn’t a grind, its progression through maps that you will eventually get by just progressing through the maps naturally. It blows me away what people mistake as grind, there is no grind, just play the game and do the content, you will get there eventually and its ACCOUNT bound so once is good enough.
And you had zone completion in the old world, right?
I had 100 spare hero points, and after playing for 7 hours I finally finished getting skilly I-III, and then realized its 25 for my first actual, non-healing skill. At which point I quit. I need 3 kitten hero points. I’m at 5-11 on the first map, and they are all pretty much gated past that. (Do I play follow the commander tag for 3 more hours for the story, or to try to grab more HP so I can play the story like I want?).
I think I’m going to quit (or just play my lowbie Rev, without using my tomes because the sooner you hit 80 the sooner I’m forced to quit playing) until there is a 100% HP walkthrough. I refuse to play the story, until I can play it Reaper.
You said you do WvW? Then you do WvW and trade in the new tokens and Hero Badges for Hero Points. No need to even put your foot in Verdant brink (The new map).
Because the WvW method will take about 70 years. They are very stringy with rewards.
That would be true if it were really “elite”. These elite trait lines are comparable to the original profession trait lines… Nothing special here to grind for.
There can be no skills, no passive, only the name and it still be elite. You can play the whole game using your old builds and there no be diferent, but if you wanna be elite you shoud do what all elites do – earn right to call yoursellf elite.
Earn the right by… Having more spare time. Yup. Pretty 1337.
I finally got my Necro to 30, and was happy that I could replace my pets Blood is Power and a well, taking Flesh Golem as an elite…
Nope.
The Flesh Golem will go and attack every single monster in a large area. This makes it almost impossible to pull, or plan fights. Worse, if it dies they all come running to me. Since picking him as a skill, I’ve died around 7-8 times just because he decides to run off and kill everything. Even things I’m not attacking while I’m attacking something.
All the other Necro minions behave themselves (sometimes too well, not attacking anything), but the Golem just runs off and tries to get me killed by as many mobs as humanly possible.
Is this a bug or a feature? Am I missing some deep nuance to it’s use?
If this has already been answered, please forgive me. Google is being a bit useless, and the search feature on these forums hates my Android tablet.
