Just to add—I talked a lot about DPS in that last post, but it’s really a pretty durable build. You’re not going to be a tank, but you can take a lot of punishment. Plus you have elixir S, gear shield, overcharged shot, net, magnet—lots of fun stuff to help keep you alive.

I’ve been running this static discharge build for a few months now, and I really enjoy it:

I run mostly Knight’s gear and berserker’s jewels (not all of it—I have a few pieces with vit in there for a little more balance). I get some extra vitality out of using the alchemy tree. I always eat Truffle Steak and Master Maintenance Oil (it’s expensive, but worth it in terms of the DPS you get out of these). Additionally, the sigil of fire may seem like an odd choice, but try it—it’s really powerful with a high-power/crit SD build.

Runes of the Pack because I really like the extra power and precision (and the extra swiftness duration is nice for maintaining perma-swiftness in WvW), and because I can’t afford Runes of Divinity.

Sigil of fire and calculations

I only play WvW, so take this for what it’s worth, but I’ve found sigil of fire to be fantastic with a discharge build (mine is a little different from most discharge builds, but it’s mostly for personal preference). Discharges hit multiple targets (surprise shot is up every 7 seconds) and both wrench and rifle pierce. For me, the key is lining up my shots (target the furthest enemy reliably in range, then strafe around to line up more enemies between us—throwing out wrench whenever there are multiple targets and hitting surprise shot at every c/d). Every hit (not just the ones on your target) has a chance to proc. If you’re fighting a group, you’re going to see explosions everywhere.

Anyway, that’s my endorsement, for what it’s worth. If you’re running any build with piercing bullets (traited pistol or any rifle build) I highly recommend trying it out. But also keep in mind that you really need to pay attention to your targeting and positioning if you want to get the most out of piercing bullets and, therefore, the sigil.

I play grenades in WvW as well. I’ve found Knight’s (power, precision, toughness) to be great for my play style. Although I’m sure my DPS is lower, I haven’t noticed it. My survivability, however, has increased greatly.

Again, I think it’s all about how you play. With toughness I may be losing some DPS, but I can spend a lot longer on the front lines before retreating to regroup (more kills and longer pressure on the opponent to retreat), I rarely die, and my kill count to deaths ratio has improved significantly. Going into toughness actually lets me play a lot more aggressively than before, and I’m actually finding it more fun now. More time fighting, less time behind the wall waiting to heal.

Thanks for the quick reply Jeffrey. I was writing my last comment before you posted, so my last comment seems odd. I’m all set now.

Okay, so apparently I needed to toggle my armor on the hero panel (I still think this is confusing, but I’m good now). Sorry for the false alarm. Please feel free to close/delete/whatever this thread. Thanks.

Hi all. I’ve submitted a ticket on this, but I know Anet is busy these days, so I thought I’d try here as well. There’s a good chance I’m just missing something obvious.

I had no intention of using them, but today I was on TP and decided to pick up the Halloween devil horns. Once I received the item, rather than preview it like I should have, I just equipped it directly from inventory. All of my other gear and weapon were instantly gone (not just my hat), replaced by a basic shirt, leggings, and shoes. I checked my bags, and bank, and my original gear is not there. I unequipped the devil horns (why did I even try them—I’m Charr!) and the other clothes, but my gear still seems to be missing.

As it stands now, I’ve unequipped all of the new clothes (I’m naked). I keep a set of magic find gear in my inventory for farming. Oddly, when I mouse-over my magic find gear, it says that I still have my WvW armor set equipped (and all 6 rune bonuses appear active, so all gear must be somewhere), even though I’m clearly naked, with nothing in my gear slots. Additionally, when I log out and go to the Character Select screen, my toon is still wearing the WvW armor.

I kinda feel like I’m missing something obvious on this, but I’m stumped. My gear still seems to exist, but I can’t find it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Corpse dancing, jumping and other humilation tactics -- When are they acceptable?

I do it everytime to enemies, thinking they are brave heroes or play like wannabe pros

Or maybe they’re just learning the game, and are dozens of (perhaps even 79) levels below you. I don’t mind when someone violates my corpse—I’m level 80. It’s when I see level 80’s do it to up-leveled players or when zergs do it to small groups who were just in the wrong place. I wish there was an emote for “sorry pal, you were just in the wrong place”.

I hope you’re exaggerating when you say you dance on every corpse. Seems like, with your ability to take down brave heroes and wannabe pros, your server mates would much rather you spend your time dominating the battlefield than dancing in the wake of your zerg.
