Hello!
I just came back into gw2 and I have a few questions.
I have 5 lvl 80 azuras but I wanna make a human character for roleplay and story. Probably going for an engineer, thief, guardian or elem (But most likely steampunk engineer)
First of, does anyone know the name of the parts used in her armor ? I found her on the forum recently on a 1 year old topic but there was just a pic

I’m loving the design, it fits the steampunk team I’m looking for my new engineer.
Also, what’s the state of the meta ? How good are each classes ? Pve and pvp wise (Especially those 4 I mentionned)
And finally, how fun is the reaper ? I love fast and dynamic classes that can move around and teleport (Thiefs, guardians, mesmers, elem)

I made 2 builds designed for WvW Roaming, I wanted to ask you for your oppinion before making them (As they are kinda expensive).
I didn’t make them to break the meta, I’m just searching gears that aren’t celestial and could be great or at least good for roaming.
1) The Dire one :
Tankiness(3k toughness and 18k hp + Earth 5#)
Cantrips and arcane(on traits)
Condi removal (ether + cleansing sigil + cleansing fire+ Earth 4#)
Toons of damage (2k1 condi dmg with 70% condi duration)
Mobility (the signet + dagger MH + FGS )
Blinds (Signet + all your burns)
Range (Both of your main dmg are 1200 range)
Condition pressure(Your burn got a 5sec CD while your bleed no CD and bleed burst 25sec)
3 Break Stun (Signet of Air + Armor of Earth + Arcane Shield)
CC and utility tankiness (Mainly thanks to the focus)
Idk what this build is lacking honestly, maybe you could tell me(Lack of non condition dmg ,idk if it’s a problem tho’)
You can even might stack easier than on a cele build (I mean, stacking via weapons skills ,not the sigil and the traits,and I said easier, not more stacks)
2) The Knight one (Tank and power):
I’m less sure about this one….
It’s basically a celestial one without celestial gear (But same traits)
You could swap Ether renewal for the signet (Tell me what you think it’s better, imo Ether is better but can be interrupted which is a problem)
It got :
Tankiness (3k toughness, 18k hp)
Power (2k1 power before might stack)
The rest you know it, it’s basically celestial but my build lacks :
Healing power (not that much, like 180 hp ,which is ok)
Ferocity (Now that’s my problem, is it that important ? Because this build got like 0 ferocity ^^’ )
So you loose a bit of dmg (12% crit chance and 25% crit dmg but gain 100 power)
But gain a lot of tankiness (over 500 tougness and nearly 2k hp)
As I said, I’m not expecting these build to become the meta builds, but I wanna know if they were at least viable.
EDIT: Btw, these build are designed for solo roaming ,not for team support)
EDIT2: Remplace D/F for S/F in the Dire build

I,m leveling mesmer and elem after having lvled ranger 52 (Now mesmer is 68).
Tbh, the first 30 lvl was a pain. While it’s so easy as a ranger, leveling a mesmer is horrible.
But then I began to play staff/Gs instead of Staff/DS and I find mesmer REALLY fun and easy to lvl on solo pve. You always stay far from the ennemy, you deal decent dmg (Not the most, but it’s ok) and the ennemies doesn,t attack you because they will attack your fantasms/clones (That’s why I use the signet of 50% more hp for the illusions). I now find it more easy to xp as a mesmer than with my thief or my elem( On my elem most of the ennemies die in 2shot tho’ but soloing veterans and stuff is more easy as mesmer/ranger imo)

I thought there was a hierarchie of dmg/etc since we usually see 3 classes in dungeons but based on your explanations ,wars are played not because they do most dmg while being tanky but because they are easy to play and hard to fail with (No surprise here ,wars are the rollface on every game I played… Aion,Lol etc.)
oO So what would your classement be ? (Even if it’s situationnal ,let’s say they are all build for dmg on the dps part and all full tank for the tankiness part)
Yeah, but it is true that thieves aren’t on the top dps right ?
Because I always see War / Guard on dungeons ,someties elem/ mesmer ,so I was wondering if Thieves ,Necro ,Rangers and Eng were useful ,and where/when.
I always thought the best dps were thieves/assassins and mages. But here, the thief got less dmg than a war ,less utility and less tankiness….(No,I don’t main thiefi I’m not QQing about my main class here =) )

I was wondering what was the classement of the class in term of dps , burst and tankiness.
Here’s my guess (Guess, based on what I sawe for now, since I’m not yet 80 on any of my chars).
-Dps :
Elem > War > Mesmer > Thief > Eng > Necro > Ranger > Guard.
-Burst :
Elem > War > Thief > Eng > Mesmer > Necro > Guard > Ranger.
-Tankiness :
Guard > War > Nerco > Thief > Elem > Mesmer > Eng > Ranger.
Am I wrong somewhere ? This classement is not to see if some classes are better than the others (Even if it’s obvious that Warriors are on top of the others ) but to see where each class is excel at.

Hello there,
I’m kinda new to the game (kinda ,I have 5 class and my main is mesmer lvl 61 ).
I love the gameplay but I was wondering about the utility of the class on groups.
Is that a good class for dungeons ? Does it hit hard ? (I don’t think so, I’m pretty sure it’s more focused on support ,but meh) Because every dungeons I see is war/guard so I was wondering if mesmer were only there for feedback/veil/portals.
For pvp, I don,t think mesmer is a bad class and since it’s fun, I’ll be playing it even if it’s the worst class. But I heard recently on the /map that mesmer got the highest burst on pvp and my mind was blown (I thought that mesmers and guards had the lowest burst ).

EDIT: Forgot to ask, since I’m nearly lvl 80, what,s the armor and stuff I should be aiming at ? Exotic ? Berserker ? Assassin ? Something more defensive ? Thank you.
