Afaik Masteries are disabled in WvW, ofc it’s not working.

That’s exactly what I thought. And even Anet told wvw has it’s own masteries. But well… somebody probably changed his/her mind. Or it was never truth the first time they said it. 2 months ago a dev wrote it will work in wvw:

And now it’s not working… So another change of mind? I hate how bad and how late Anet communicates their future plans and changes.

You’re only supporting my point, people wont find fights because everyone who cares about PvP leaves for bigger servers since the server loses most of its matchups due to the lack of PvP guilds. What if i made switching to Aurora Glade, Arborstone, Ranik free this week only and gave few day boosters to guilds that move there with a minimum amount of x players for WvW XP gained and perhaps tournament tickets wouldn’t that attract few guilds over therefore will make people able to find the fights they will looking for?

But right now the case is i want my 200 tickets every week and i cant get them on AG because the server loses every matchup what is the easy way out? move to a top 5 server where i will get more rewards and more people to fight therefore more loot and xp.

I don’t think free transfer, WXP boost and tickets will fix it. As I said these guilds (and I am in one of them) don’t care about these rewards. The fighting is the most important and even if the server ends last who cares? I don’t need WXP, I don’t care about another skin I will never use… I long for fights that are challenging and fun and that’s my reward.

The wining tournament is not about wvw guilds, it’s about off-peak coverage. If you somehow convince wvw guilds to move to lower tier, once these 3 servers move away in ranking and stops meeting each other in matchups the guilds will start transferring again. Spreading these guilds too thin will not help. The wvw population (regular players and guilds) is too small now so it would kill them. They know it and that’s why they are stacking in higher tiers.

Year ago AG was full of wvw guilds (8+ guilds, 20+ ppl in each and part of gvg community) and most of mid-silver servers as well. But back then gold servers had queues every day and even some silver servers were affected by it. Right before tournament T1 servers had queue on one border and EB and on other two were outnumbered…

They are not transferring because of rewards (mostly) but for a chance to fight more against same-minded guilds. Top servers are more stable and have higher chance to fight each other. AG and servers in silver don’t have that much of people in wvw anymore. So it happens quite often that you spend whole raid looking for fights and finds none. And when the guild is quite successful that enemy starts avoiding fights… And no fights = no fun and people stop playing…

One might as well call for the banning of AC’s and Ballistas and the ability of the enemy to upgrade keeps so any one can be taken in 2 minutes.

Siege should help weaker side to stand up not stronger side to get even more stronger. How it is designed now it just kills open field fights…
And for me, I would prefer to take the keep in 2 minutes and find out faster if enemy stays for fight than loose hours of boring sieging and have no fight. And you know what? If the keep is defended by people it takes more than 2 minutes to take it. And it is more fun fighting inside than just sitting on catas…

The entire premise of the original posters objections are bogus. If a larger group does not want to fight and just hides in keeps why on earth would one believe they will WANT to fight if they no longer have siege disablers? If that entire group just wants to hide in its keeps walls then that a valid strategy. Move on. take the rest of the borderland. if they are as unwilling to come out and fight as claimed even against an outnumbered foe then leave 10 guys behind to pin their 50 in the keep and take the rest of your group to other targets. They will not have t3 keeps and towers for long.

So you advise to split up and die on both objectives… Perfect…

There is a place where no one bothers to upgrade keeps and there little in the way of people that focus on defending them. It is EOTm.

EOTM is funny place, there are so many fluffy kittens they don’t sometimes even know how to dodge. I play to have fun and fight enemy. In EOTM are mostly only toothless underleveled pugs that die after fist hit… There no challenge and honour in killing them.

Smaller servers do need the disabler to survive and hold some morale longer,and as far stacked servers its a given that everyone would use everything to win.

This is where I don’t fully agree. Weaker side needs some boost but the problem is that when stronger side starts using disabler against weaker, they don’t have any chance to „win“ (the PPT game) at all. Before they could try to split and attack on more places at once, now it takes one person to hold them long enough to get rolled by called zerg everywhere. That’s why most borderland with T3 keeps are empty…

I don’t believe you. There’s no way to count how many defenders there are, and I’ve never seen defenders not come out when they had the numbers. Failed attacks end in a rout more often than not.

If the defenders had the numbers they’d be on the offensive.

If you’re not too busy out-manning the enemy and PvDing, try defending your own structures. Feel free to come out and fight the attackers at any time.

Well maybe I’m that good after two years of wvwing in guessing enemy numbers. Or maybe I record our fights and then just watch video where I can count them easily…

I’m not sure if we can out-man them with Outnumbered buff on us. Although maybe we are more manly then them so this is how we out-man them?

And btw we are not hiding in keeps when under siege. We don’t use disablers and we attack enemies even when we have lesser numbers. The fun is in beating stronger enemy not in taking empty keeps…

Why would two people holding a keep or tower want to come out and fight 30 peoples attacking it?

So you haven’t read it too. I understand that the Disabler is useful for smaller numbers against larger. The problem is that this ”feature“ has two sides. I wrote that often whole zerg is hidden behind walls and using disabler to avoid fight. I run with my guild with ~20 ppl and we find lately 40-60+ hidden there just using disablers and not fighting at all.

I like fighting and I don’t mind being steamrolled by a zerg but what should we do against enemy that just abuse this trap to avoid any fighting and waits in keep and that’s all they do? I play to have fun. Not to siege a keep for an hour and hope that enemy don’t port away when we destroy inner walls. The game mechanics allow them to avoid fight twice (once using disabler and second time porting away) even they have twice / three times higher number.

Disabler does not support fighting at all. With the porting inside sieged keep every few minutes the zerg inside has infinite flow of supply and they can wait indefinitely. You as weaker (in numbers) attacker has only limited supply and you can’t split and send few people for supply and then port back inside.

I hope ANET ignores this with the same intensity as anything to do with gvg/fights that was ever suggested. Sorry something got in the way of your pvdoor guys! Maybe try fighting now?

You haven’t read my posts at all, have you? I would like to fight but enemies are hiding behind walls and ain’t going out to fight… And I need to get through walls/gates to them to fight them. This disabler is what allows avoiding fights and makes wvw boring. Show us something what will convince all to fight instead of hiding. I would like to hear that and have it implemented in game…

Sounds to me like y’all need to find some new tactics to counter the disabler instead of complaining about it.

What new tactics you want to find?

Disabler requires less supply than siege. More people have more supply. Zerg behind wall can use disabler more times than attacker can build siege. Siege don’t survive 45 second under superior ACs shooting through walls, gates and ceiling (no LOS required for it).

You can use trebs or catas to get in but with T3 walls/gates it takes forever and most people don’t want to wait 30-60 minutes to destroy gates/walls and than find out that the enemy zerg just ported away because they are afraid to fight. This is same as the AC buff year ago, it just supports PvD, zerging and kills PvP…

There’s not really counter to stop enemy using Disabler, they can use it from range, from stealth, without LOS, instantly and it’s aoe…

The problem is that even when people arrive and outnumber the attackers they often stay behind/on walls and use Siege Disablers just to avoid fights. Attackers have only two options, dps gate without siege under heavy aoes from zerg on walls or just go somewhere else where are enemies brave enough to fight.

Alliances have major issue I haven’t seen mentioned yet. And that is Europe and diverse languages (minimum 4 official).

For guilds it’s sort of fine, they usually have at least one person speaking English but what about the rest of players? The semi-random generation of alliances could create big block of French players with small part of Germans on same alliance and now they will be in disadvantage of full Spanish alliance (or mix languages as you wont) and for the one-language-only-speakers the game will not be fun.

While blobbing has the ability to help keep players healthy via aoe heals and buffs, it also has the added benefit of quick res, which makes a good blob, that are at least partially aware, fairly indestructible.

You’re right. Anet should start fixing root causes. Some ideas are interesting but I don’t think down-state is the problem. It gives benefits to both sides. Yes, zerg gets bigger but main problem is hard-resing during fight. This gives zerg the power and slowly wears down smaller organized groups. Zerg has players for resing dead, smaller groups can’t spare anybody during fight. 5 minutes limit before forced-respawn is good step but it would be great to add next step and forbid resing fully dead players by allies in combat.

You guys beat me to it. After last week’s positive discussion on siege trolls I wanted to bring up the topic of population imbalance and ideas that you have on it.

Pair servers together based on ranking and allow for WvW guesting between the paired servers. Simple. The only thing the video doesn’t cover is that servers rarely need, or want that much help, so something like a 20-30 limit on WvW guests would probably do. One thing I really like about the idea is that it allows for small groups to play with or against new players more often, which is something I feel WvW could really benefit from.

One year old video but still with the best changes:
1) easy to implement = it’s just extension of overflow system and guesting
2) server communities stay and will have higher impact on winning
3) semi-random grouping every week = harder to transfer to winning side
4) opportunity to meet new enemy anytime
5) GvG with all guilds from other 2 teams possible
6) coverage will be little bit less important, not completely fixed but one step at a time

But it has issues for EU. There’s different number of servers and than national servers (FR/DE/SP). Still I believe it’s possible to implement it somehow.

It’s much better than other suggested ideas. Merging server wont help, population will shift to winning server anyway. Population cap will screw over high population server fighting low population server and not everybody wish to fight in EOTM when all borders are ”full“ / dead empty.

Maybe it would be great to implement this into PvE as well. To make it more consistent. So people coming from one world to other have similar experience and are not surprised how different these worlds are. Something like newly spawned mobs don’t give loot, XP and their kill don’t count for first 5-10 minutes of their existence. To prevent spawn camping and kill trading in open world, during events and in dungeons.

It has been the case for a while now that players who very recently respawned are not worth any WXP. To bring other systems in-line with this, players who are not worth any WXP are now also not worth any loot or XP. We are aware that this also affects sigil stacks, and are evaluating whether we want to treat the stacks the same way: only when a player is worth WXP/XP and loot, can stacks be gained from killing them.

Does this affect rally mechanic as well? What about food with on kill effect?

you forget one thing :

5 points in wilderness survival + Bowl of orrian truffle and meat stew grant you +90% endurance regen, now combine it with s/d + sb evades + lightning reflex…

Since when Bowl of orrian truffle and meat stew stacks with Natural Vigor? You are getting only the highest bonus, not both… Same as for Vigor, it doesn’t stack with food and Natural Vigor. You are always getting only +40 % or +50 % or +100 %, never sum of two or three of these…

Since he included it in the thread on GVG, would that not mean the GvG is one of those items NOT IN STEP with the gameplay?

Well, Anet said they want epic battles in wvw but they boosted AC (and still are constantly boosting sieges and zerging) which kills these battles. Now are people sitting whole day behind walls with 10 ACs and shooting everything that moves or moving only in 60+ blobs and skill lagging others… With random matchups and no incentive in gaining points for server there’s no reason to siege at all. Without GvG the organized wvw community would die moths ago (or shrink to nothing). When Anet starts doing changes that make wvw more fun I may respect their desires. Now I will be playing with what game supports (and large battles are not) and what is most fun – GvG, organized guild raids in open field, arranged 1v1 etc.

Trolls will troll. But new people interested in GvG will read it and will have ”insurance“ that if they follow rules they will not be killed and can safely watch GvG.
For spectators it’s not really rule but more good manners code.

I think there needs to be rules for spectators. It’s same as for pedestrians in the Traffic code. If they don’t follow rules they can get rolled by a car. If there are no rules, how can they know what they can do? Every participant should know their obligation and entitlement.
Same applies for GvG. If spectators do whatever they want, they will get killed. Rules are for their protection as well. Not only for GvGers…

There are two NR guilds… Yesterday (and Monday by the Longview) it was Necro Raiders. KrisHQ is from New Reality. They wasn’t running with us.

If we knew there is already wvw guild with NR tag, we would picked different one. Now it’s just confusing… Well, maybe not. Necro Raiders was GW1 guild so old players wouldn’t give up this tag…

STo the AG group of 40 people on the bridge over to Heroes Lodge. Did you really need 2 arrow carts and a ballista to fight 18 Dius? Did you really fear us that much that you couldnt charge us? And did you really have to call in DAWN to help you out when we wasnt stupid enough to charge your bridge? Pathetic. Sorry.

We (NR) had open mic event yesterday (every Wednesday) and there was a lot of new players. Most of them had zerker gear and never were in wvw. Some even didn’t know that blasting combo fields gives buffs or heals… We fought you before and you had to see that at least half of us died immediatelly when you run through us. We build balista and ACs to show new players how you can defend yourself in thin space and to practice building with warp field. (Actually most of the evening was practising blasting and coordinated running) I’m not even sure there was someone using it during fights. Anyway, you could just run trough us and wipe us. Half of our ”zerg“ was free res for you and because of that we all were just free loot bags…

Our maximum was 39 two hours earlier on Gandara BL, when we met you on the bridge we had 28 people online. I have no idea how many of them were afk or only listening on TS…

We didn’t call DAWN for help. Actually we don’t comunicate with others at all… One of many our flaws. DAWN are always wandering around and looking for fights it was coincidence they met you there.

And yes, I didn’t liked it either. We (NR) are working on growing our guild little bit more. When we are lucky we are able to get 15 ppl online but usually it’s only 10. I hope soon we will have similar numbers as you so we can provide more entertaining fights.

I play mostly wvw (melee ranger, usually small fights from 5v~5 to 15v~15) but this should apply to dungeons as well. There are many problem with pets but here are some I didn’t noticed yet.

If I call pet to me (F3) then it goes directly to my side (somewhere 300-500 units far from me). There are 2 problems. First the pet goes directly through countless aoes. Other problem is it goes to place that doesn’t have to be save (that’s why I’m not standing there and I’m standing where I’m standing). So if pet didn’t die while moving to me it will die on place where it stops…
If I’m in melee range of enemy and pet is hitting same enemy. There’s no way to tell the pet to go out of aoe or to go to me, because it is already near me. I can’t tell pet to attack from behind to not get hit from frontal aoes.

I like the idea after F3 instantly porting pet under my feet. It could help pet survive at least the damage it would receive during travelling to ranger. Other option would be to let be the pet after using F3 invincible the whole time it goes to me and put CD there. But there will be problem with pet tripping traps on the way and doing additional invincible target. Instant teleport will be better and will help to lower amount of data transferred from and to server too.

With the nerf of Emphatic Bond there is one new now more visible problem. Pet and conditions. Pet doesn’t have condition removal. Pet is stupid and doesn’t go into healing springs / wells that remove conditions… When attacking it doesn’t go one step to left from red circle… Rangers have 3 ways to remove conditions from pet. First is pet swap but it has 20 s CD and 60 s if pet is dead. Pet is getting direct damage, condition damage and is moving through all aoe it can so it doesn’t live 20 s to be this effective… Second is healing spring which requires me standing in it and hoping pet will too (pet usually stands far from its range). Third are projectile finishers with light combo field (someone else have to create it) and having pet near target. Does this prioritize pet or other players? I would guess players. I’m not counting the elite spirit, it has so high CD and prioritize player over pets anyway. During fights none of these options is viable. The more conditions I get and Emphatic Bond removes, the faster pet dies and there’s not much I can do about it. When pet is dead ranger has one less condition removal. And dead pet means less damage as well…

For the condition problem there’s not much to do. Let pet remove conditions from himself every few seconds or transfer it from pet to enemy when pet is attacking or something like that.

I know lot of problems I can solve by positioning myself better but then it will be the only thing I will be doing the whole fight… keeping me and pet alive without providing benefits for group…
