Solved my “issue” today. Turns out that it was just my own fault for not putitng my graphics card into the closest slot to the chipset. I hate to click answers on my own post and I’m sure this will not help out many others but this stupid error fix now has me at almost 30FPS where i was getting 5. Hope this helps someone out there!

Just bought the game because I read the system requirements. I got 5fps using core2 quad (2.40GHz) and nvidia GTX 260. game is unplayable at this point.
You have a CPU and a GPU from 4 generations of PC hardware ago, and you’re complaining? Give me a break. I built a PC like that several years ago…
I agree its definitely not the best computer and you’re spot on with the generation; it was built it 4 years ago. However, despite it’s age it still is better than the system requirements advertised. Whats worse is that I’ve read a lot of posts of people with worse system specs and no problems running on high.
Anyways all I am saying is that the computer specs in this situation are not the problem (At least for most people as they already know when they did the update and all the people who posted the “Get a better comp” statements got screwed over and became part of the club)

Right now I am running GW2’s suggested driver of 304.79. I just recently changed as of today hoping that would fix the problem. Before i believe i was using 301.42 but still had the same issues if not worse.

Thanks for the response! Reading other posts I see many others having the same problem. Hope this gets resolved soon.

First off, I just want to say that I know that my computer specs aren’t the greatest but I have seen many people with lower / worse specs play perfectly fine. Also these clearly are better than the minimum system requirement so there should be no reason why I cant play the game unless I am intended to play through 3-5FPS.
I just recently created a Human male character and the moment it spawned me into what I am guessing is the tutorial level I get 3FPS. Now when I turn around and run to the nearest wall or look directly at nothing but my character and the ground I can get up to about 30 max FPS. All my settings are set to the lowest of the low, all boxes unchecked, and I tried running it windowed mode. When I am getting the 30FPS I can change between the highest and lowest settings with no framedrop whatsoever.
my specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.40GHz
8GB DDR2 RAM
Nvidia GTX 260
At first I thought it was the CPU but when I check it using Resource Monitor it shows that I am only using around 50%. GW2 uses only 11% of that as well. Also thought it might be the Graphics card but I googled “GW2 GTX 260” and found multiple people running GW2 flawlessly using the same card.
Any help or criticism would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
