I’m not sure how this isn’t an issue affecting more people. All we need is some sort of safeguard for our efforts in these events.
For the past five or so days I’ve been trying my darndest to get into a Verdant Brink map that would achieve Tier 4 Daytime rewards while also contributing enough to at least get 100%. While I have some serious issues with the fact that the Bladed Chest Piece Box can only be rewarded with any sort of guarantee if you get 200% participation in a Tier 4 map, I’m going to withhold my commentary on how difficult it is to garner so much participation credit in such a situation when the only Tier 4 maps tend to be those that are organized, and thus create a problem of actually not having enough events to attend to even get to 200%. No, this isn’t about that.
What this is about is the terribly unfair and condemnatory results of disconnections and client crashes in these sort of maps. Some of us have less-than-ideal internet connections and some of us are just apparently subject to a very large amount of client crashes. Should there not be a recovery period? A moment of grace, only a few minutes perhaps, for one to return to game and the map that they were in, keep their participation credit, and not have all of their effort thrown out the window by forces beyond their control?
Because of these issues, and, on occasion, because of maps with poor planning—you know, the ones where I could easily get 200% participation but in no way could get to tier 4—I have only once, in the past five or so days of constant attempts, ever been eligible for that Bladed Chest Piece Box—and of course it was in an organized tier 4 map, so my participation was not as high as it could be and luck did not favor me. I am getting very discouraged, honestly. I have never felt like something that should be (and is, for the lucky ones) attainable with a moderate amount of effort blown so vastly out of proportion as keenly as I am feeling it with the unique rewards in the HoT maps.
Please institute some sort of system to save us unlucky ones. We’re trying. The participation credit says so, too. Until we’re kicked that is.

I crash occasionally, but I’ve been crashing since before HoT, so I haven’t been thinking too much on it. But yes, at least I can log in. Not that I can do much once I have.
I have been getting some pretty bad lag since yesterday evening, but the game was still playable. Something seems to have happened since then that has produced a remarkable amount of lag, giving me well over 1,000 ping. My home connection is perfectly strong and I’m having no internet issues, and my FPS in the game is consistently above 60. I wasn’t having this issue the first couple of days of the expansion, but now I can’t even play. I die to single enemies that I cannot dodge and any progress I make in story missions is useless because I eventually get kicked out of them before I can complete them.
I don’t know if there is anything that I can do, or if this is something ArenaNet can fix, but I really need help if I’m to play this game at all.
