Thanks for the tip, I’ll surely be looking towards a SB.
Yeah I suppose the AOE is helpful but then again, I’m most likely using my D/D and I barely switch out

Which range weapon to choose?

Hey guys, I’m running a D/D death blossom condition build and I’m loving it, it’s great fun and the mobility is crazy high however, I don’t know what to use for my secondary weapon/ranged. I’m always using D/D and always right in the battle, so I wanna know which range weapon I should use. Also I don’t want skills that waste too much initiative because this build is built on death blossom. Another note, I am using SoM so that might change some things.

Here’s my build, I’m using Dire gear for a condition, dodge/tank build and ?+Rabid gear (whatever that means?)

Range Weapon for Thief? (PVE condition build)

Hey guys, I’ve been playing gw2 for about a year but I’ve never created a topic in the forums before so, if I’m posting things in wrong areas and what not, please let me know, I’ll appreciate it alot if you could me feed back, and yeah.

I play both PVE and PVP however I’m having trouble on my secondary weapon for PVE. I’m running a condition D/D death blossom build. Now before we all get judgemental on what are the cons, and the bad stuff and what not, I’ve been using this build from the start since I made my thief and I am enjoying it ALOT. So I am not planning to change my build, whether it be stronger or better because, I’m having hell of a time with this build. Anyway let’s move on.

This is the build I am currently running:

It consists of dual daggers for Death Blossom and Signet of Malice where this is makes the build really fun, seeing the evades everywhere, stacks of bleeding damage and constant heals. I have caltrops which gives of a good AOE bleeding and cripple stack and dagger storm for constant hits (SoM) and to chuck more bleeding and cripple. However I might change the elite skill cause honestly, I don’t think the damage is worth it when you can just Death Blossom your way through mobs so, please let me know if I should use a different elite skill. I have SoA (extra 3 dodges from the trait gaining back some endurance) which helps me evade and apply more caltrops from the trait and clears one condition. It also gives me the precision passive which I don’t find too important but, I guess it’s a nice little extra. Lastly I have Shadow Refuge. I love this skill since it applies 10 seconds of stealth if you stay in it. The traits I have also give me: an extra second on stealth, 15 seconds of might, cure a condition each 3 seconds, and helps me regain initiative faster (all in stealth).

Okay a summary on how this build works when I’m on the field with mobs: Caltrops crack AOE bleeding and cripple, also healing me from constant hits. I dodge alot to gain swiftness, stacks of might and drop caltrops + more with SoA. Death Blossom hits heal my health constantly keeping my hp high whilst evading too. I sometimes use dancing dagger to draw mobs, and Cloak and Dagger for emergencies. Shadow Refuge stacks me might, heals conditions, regains my initiative faster, stealths me and makes my next hit back stab. Lastly, stealing grants me and allies vigor, causing me to dodge more (: and grants me back 3 initiative which is useful if I’m out of both endurance and initiative. Using this build, I barely get downed/die and infact, my hp is usually kept high. I chuck conditions (mostly bleeding/cripple) and let the others do the dps. 11 seconds of Stealth gets me through foes if i dont want to fight, or even some channelling skill points with enemies around. The dodging and mobility is extremely high and is very, very fun. If you guys use a similar build, or are going trying my build, please give me feed back and let me know if you have problems, or if there needs improvement. However like I said, if you say it’s just bad in general, I don’t care, because it’s giving me hours of fun, and I’m sticking to this. (:

Okay enough talk about my build, back to the actual question that I’ve been wanting to ask. I want to know, what range/secondary weapon to use.

I’ve been using Pistol/Dagger lately, and though I BARELY switch weapons, I use this for mainly, shadow strike (good for getting out of the crowd, since most of the time, I’m in there). I also combo cloak and dagger with Skill 1, using sneak attack, stacking bleeds and x5 hits, refilling my hp fast (SoM)

Short bow’s cluster bomb gets me bleeding and hits for healing. Disabling shot is the evading skill, similar to the P/D shadow strike, however it actually ‘evades’. Choking gas for poison and a combo field. And infiltrator’s arrow for blindness and shadow stepping.

As you can see P/D is more on single target and Bow for AOE. Both have an evade (Shadow Strike makes you shadow step a good distance backwards. Even though it’s not a dodge, its gets you out of attacks). Now you may think, ‘well obviously take the bow cause of AOE’, but remember, I’m mostly sticking with D/D so I still wanna keep some initiative for Death Blossom, since that’s our main attack and the reason I have P/D on currently, is cause pistol stacks up bleeding without initiative and I also have dancing dagger, which acts like bow Skill 1.

Anyway enough talking again. Hope you can give me feed back on any errors you see and I would appreciate it most, if you could suggest which range weapon to use.

I know this is a really long post, but if you had the heart to read it all, I’m sure this’ll help you somehow. Thankyou!!! Btw my thief’s IGN is Isiria Darkedge (no l, it’s an i)

I don’t know what happened, but after giving up and giving the game a few hours rest, it seems to be working again. I can log on perfectly fine without a problem now. However… I think I might be staying away from this area from now on til they completely fix this problem. (that is, if they do or can fix it)

Today I got this error – (Code=7:11:3:189:101) when I took a Waypoint to Caledon Forest. I log onto the SAME character but it gets out and I receive the same code error. This is my main and I’ve so much equips, items, money, gem spent items and I don’t want to lose that all. Has anyone found a solution to this major problem?
