I want a rainbow dye because I like rainbows and dyes.
Well… you say whether you should stick with ascended or not. You do know the stats are the same between legendary and ascended, right? The only reason to get a legendary is if you like the look.
Anyway, prices will likely fall when HoT comes out as everyone throws themselves at the new legendaries.
You can get ascended chests as drops from some places, higher level fractals among them. They’re rare, though. I do at least two fractals a week and I’ve gotten one once. It wasn’t the right stats, even. You can get one piece with any stats if you complete the bioluminescent collection.
Otherwise you need to craft it.
Really hard to say without knowing what kinds of items HoT will introduce. Probably, whatever items are required for the precursors will go up… but we don’t know what those are. 400-500 crafting mats are a safe bet since any new recipes will likely be that level at least.
I just gotta step in and say that the definition of “prophet” is “a person regarded as an inspired teacher or proclaimer of the will of God.” The word you’re looking for is “profit.”
Your screenshots are very nice, but I’m afraid there is no “video game photographer” position in a professional context. The people who take screenshots for official media are probably people from the art team, and they certainly don’t just take screenshots.
I can see that getting the timing and angles and such right on your screenshots took a lot of effort, but that kind of effort isn’t required when developers take screenshots of their own games. ANet has test builds of GW2 they can modify as they wish… Basically, if they want a screenshot of the sun rising, they don’t have to wait for it to rise, they can make it rise—they can use the game files to line up everything they way they want it. What I’m saying is, with those tools, they don’t need people who are especially skilled at taking good screenshots.
If you wish to pursue this as a hobby, there is a fairly well-known community that works hard at these kinds of things: http://deadendthrills.com/ Check out the forums especially. Most of the users take really huge screenshots on powerful computers, then scale them down to make the end product look very sharp (this is a oversimplification, but it’s best if you look into it yourself). While you may not have the hardware to do things like that, there are a lot of other cool tips and tricks.
Yup. Many of the features are ones I’ve wanted for a long time, and I’m really excited for the new zones. I definitely don’t mind paying for an expansion since the game is B2P anyway. The last time I was forced to pay money to play this game was 2 years ago… I mean, I have paid money for shiny cosmetic things, but I totally could have played this game and its updates for 2 years, for free. Shelling out another 40-50 dollars (at a point where I will likely have been playing for 3 years) for a bunch more stuff seems totally reasonable.
Edit: Also, a reminder that ANet hasn’t revealed many specifics about the expac… we don’t know how many zones there will be, how many specializations there will be, and what the new group content even entails. The stuff they have revealed is enough for me to justify my purchase, but if you’re on the fence then you should stay there, because none of us have the full picture right now. The trailer didn’t show everything because more than likely, they want some things to be a surprise when we all get to finally play. For most of beta, we only ever even saw a few zones.

There are 1.5 legendary greatswords I would say. The hilts of Sunrise and Twilight are quite different, though yeah Eternity is just swapping between them pretty much. Anyway, I’m pretty sure the slight preferential treatment the legendary greatswords get is outweighed by the fact that it’s caused them to have the most expensive precursors.
It seems most likely to me that all weapons will get a new legendary (except maybe underwater weapons, because few people craft those anyway).
It does not. I have the Clock Tower achieve, plus two other Halloween achievements, and it says I have 2 done for the Emissary title.
So no, it doesn’t count.
I know ANet is working on fixing all the heart event/dynamic event bugs, but it seems like the longer we go without a server reset/patch, the worse it gets. As in, I have been finding progressively more and more stuck dynamic and heart events. Seriously, I’m hitting one every ten minutes or so. And yes, I’ve been reporting all of them with as much info as I can, but it’s getting to the point where I’m considering leaving the game until a server reset or a patch to fix them. It’s just so disheartening to go “Oh, a new dynamic event! ….And it’s been stuck for days.”
So, I know that fixing things takes a lot of time, but server resets are at least a temporary fix to many of them. I used to be able to get around stuck events by going into overflow servers, but now people are spread out enough that I’m not running into them anymore.
I think all of the suggestions in this thread are great, but the one I miss most is the officer chat. Being able to easily communicate with the other officers is invaluable for managing a guild smoothly, and is pretty much necessary for running events.
@teviko (who posted while I was posting) For the most part, if they removed guild representation and made joining a guild character based, it would still be the same as the situation you’re describing. Then the person not representing would just be on a different character for a different guild, still not participating in gchat or gaining influence. The only difference is that they’d no longer be taking up a slot in your guild.

I changed my password over a week ago to a longer and more secure one. The problem with this new password is that due to the length and complexity, I typo it frequently. Which would be no problem with the “remember password” feature in the launcher, right? Well, the launcher will only remember my old password. I can’t seem to figure out how to make it forget it.
I have tried:
- Unchecking the “remember password” box, entering my password, then rechecking it, and launching the game
- Unchecking the “remember password” box, entering my password, launching the game, quitting fully out of the game, starting up the launcher, entering the password and checking “remember password” and launching the game again
- Entering my new password over the saved old one with the box still checked
- Deleting the local.dat file (interestingly, the username/email and password fields were both blank the next time I started the launcher, but the next time I ran the launcher afterward, it had my old password again)
How do I get it to forget my old password/remember my new one? This is very frustrating, and I’m on the verge of giving up and doing a full reinstall. Though after all this, I’m paranoid that even that won’t fix and I’ll go through all the trouble for nothing.
