Love reading the confessions in this topic! I’ll share some of my own while bored on my break

I can’t decide on a character to ‘main’ and end up wasting lots of time, money and effort on many different characters that I end up deleting and it frustrates me to no end. It would be my engineer if it wasn’t for the hobosacks obliterating the effort I put into my character’s look and farming my legendary.

As a female, I prefer to play female characters except for asura. I can’t stand the female asura as they sound way too snobby to me while the males seem a little, if only a little more modest (they’re still asura after all =p).

I sometimes chuckle at the lore- friendly name I came up with for my male asura elementalist: Phlabb. In my mind, it sounds awesome and silly at the same time. Combine that with the big, scorched floppy ears (fireball gone wrong) and the wizard hat. The result is priceless to me xD

Despite playing since headstart, I have yet to complete Arah paths 2 and 4 for the Dungeon Master title because I’m afraid of rude, narrowminded elitists and I refuse to purchase them as I want to experience them without being carried or rushing through them.

Two weeks after hitting level 80 on my first character (human engineer), I started over as a Sylvari engineer because the human character felt boring and bland to me.

The female human T3 light and medium armors make me cringe. I find them both hideous and ridiculous and can’t imagine anyone over the age of 16 would consider wearing them.

I have way too many female Sylvari characters and should probably get rid of half of them in order to protect myself from starting to hate playing them.

Sometimes I have this ridiculous urge to get a new account and start fresh because I miss the feeling of discovery and ‘unlocking’ achievements. Then I think of how my bank slots, collections, legendary and achievement points would be wasted and I stop myself from doing it, though the feeling never quite goes away. It annoys me to no end!

LFG titles such as “zerker or kick” “ping gear” “no noobs” “no -insert non-meta class/build-” make me seriously question the idea that GW2 supposedly has the best community. I understand that people want to use their time efficiently when farming gold, but there’s no need to be a kitten about it and call anyone who simply wants to enjoy the game using their own creative build a noob or worse. I would consider the opposite to be closer to being nooby: copying a build from a website and playing the easy way by skipping or 1 hitting stuff.
To end on a less bitter note: seeing titles like “all are welcome” make me smile!

Hobo Sacks: A Terrible Fashion Statement

I know it’s naive, but I was really hoping for this to be addressed in at least one of the interviews.. :<

I haven’t posted in this topic before despite having followed it regularly since december 2013 but now I feel I might as well show my support and add a photo of my favourite character. The fact that these monstrosities prevent me from seeing the Quip and Ley Line Rifle I worked hard for is disappointing; they prevent me from enjoying my favourite character to its full potential. I occasionally get complimented on my character’s look by random strangers while standing around in town (without the hobosack obviously), but once I start fighting that content feeling quickly disappears :< Perhaps I should give up on the blue and go for some nasty looking shades of brown. Sigh.

I loved the extra engineer dialogue options we got related to Scarlet’s inventions during the living story, but I just can’t feel like a hero after defeating Scarlet with a hobosack.

Looking for a friendly guild [EU]

Hello

After having been a lurker on the forums for so many years, here I am to write my first post as I’m looking for a new guild! Unfortunately the guild I’ve been in for over two years has become rather empty and it’s been preventing me from enjoying the game, since what I prefer to do are group activities. And while those can be done outside the guild, I’d prefer to get to know some nice people who I can play with regularly rather than keep encountering rude pug parties who want me to put on my zerker gear, stack in the corner and not enjoy the game’s mechanics the way I want to. I understand people who want to do speed runs to save time, but personally I don’t enjoy doing those. I’d rather spend a little more time in a dungeon while having fun with the people I’m with regardless of their class and build.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s see, what else is worth mentioning.. I’m 24 years old and am currently writing my bachelor thesis which prevents me from being online as much as I’d like to be, so I think a “real life comes first” mentality in a guild would benefit both sides

Basically what I’m looking for in a guild is:
- Friendly, helpful and patient people
- Small to medium community
- Equality
- Including (new) members in parties instead of having set groups for stuff. (Once in a while is fine but it shouldn’t prevent others from enjoying content all the time)
- No unreasonable rules as to how many hours a member should be online per week, what class or build they use, that kind of thing.
- Events, a forum or facebook page would be nice but it is not required

Some stuff about me:
- I live in The Netherlands (GMT+1)
- I’m currently on Ruins of Surmia (EU), but am willing to switch to another EU server for an awesome guild obviously
- I don’t mind using voice chat for group content
- I enjoy group content such as living world, dungeons, fractals (though my level is only 22 or so), WvWvW and would like to try PvP but haven’t gotten much into it due to rude people who prefer scolding over instructing newcomers
- I have a level 80 Mesmer and Engineer and a bunch of alts
- Said level 80 characters are both Sylvari, so if for any RP reason ‘salads’ aren’t welcome in your guild I thought I’d mention it xD
- I’m silly enough to have made Quip my first legendary and have zero regrets!

That’s about all I suppose! Feel free to send me a message ingame if you think I would fit in with your guild or if you have any more questions don’t hesitate to ask me here!

Thanks for reading,

Kaeja

Ruins of Surmia - Angel Wings [AW] Casual PvX

Angel Wings [AW]

“Every time you laugh, every time you grieve, pieces of those moments become ours as well; that’s what it is to be a member of our guild. When a member is on cloud nine we all float. When a member is outraged, we all clench our teeth. When a member weeps we all wipe our eyes. There is no reason to be riddled with guilt, because no one here holds you responsible. You are after all a member of our family; a member of Angel Wings! - Almighty Chaos [AW]

In our small, casual guild our main focus is having fun with our friends and to help each other out. Mostly we do events, dungeons, farming and world vs world together. Although we love our community as it is, we sometimes feel we still lack in numbers in order to be able to do as many events/dungeons as we’d like to. Right now we are 3 ladies and 15 gentlemen from both Europe and Asia and we would love to see our community grow a little larger.

Our Mindset (because we don’t like to say “rules”)
1: Real life comes first. We do not want our members to feel pressured to play; the game is for fun!
2: We play to enjoy ourselves. As stated above, the game is for fun and this should be the main if not only reason to play.
3: Patience. We don’t like to rush through things and we take all the time that is needed to explain mechanics to members who may not be familliar with certain events, puzzles or dungeons.
4: Respect. This should be obvious: Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.

Because we value enjoying and succeeding in our real life, we do not have unreasonable demands in terms of activity. Many of us are very active, but we think real life should always come first and there should be no reason for members to feel pressured to play as playing a game should be about enjoying yourself. If you are not going to play for a while, we would however appreciate it if you would let someone know. Outside the game it is still possible to stay in touch through our forum.

We do prefer to use TeamSpeak while doing dungeons or guild missions but if you don’t have a microphone or are not comfortable with talking nobody will pressure you.

All we ask of you is that you agree with our mindset (basically have common sense), the ability to understand and make yourself understandable in English and enjoy the game!
