How exactly does it work with buying Guild Wars off the site? Like does it provide a serial code for usage or does it send you directly to some sort of account creation thing? It would really help me out, because I need a birthday gift of some kind for my lady friend
Don’t send her the code over an insecure medium like email. Anet uses the code for account verification. They asked for my code when I requested my linked email address (also my login name) be changed. So I would assume they’ll ask for it if the account gets hacked and “stolen”, and you’re trying to reclaim it. You don’t want the hacker to have access to it because it’s sitting in one of your emails.
She and I use Skype, pretty sure that’s secure enough.

Hello there, I don’t know where I should post this question, so I took the safe bet of posting it here instead of like…Something opposite.
I found out that a good friend of mine loves Guild Wars and played GW1 until she lost her account, and she doesn’t have the current funds to buy Guild Wars 2, so I decided to get her a copy…Here comes the question though.
She is from another country and I don’t exactly have her adress, so the one thing that I could do is: Buy a copy, open it up and read the code for her, but I am more curious if she needs the disc or not to be able to install it. Does the serial code thing when you make an account basically work like BattleNet’s system of “Type in your code, you get the game” or how does it work? Would help me a lot

Sounds like you’re trying to make it more of a WoW clone than it’s already started to become.
They don’t need flying mounts in this game. They’ll never compete with WoW and that’s coming from someone who’s bored of WoW.
Uhm..In what way is GW2 becoming WoW?
Well what I personally like is this:
1) The combat, some classes feel really fluid, some are just really fun to play, that and I am actually active without sitting back and play the game one-handedly, only rarely getting out of an AoE spot
2) Questing isn’t boring, sure some quests may not be very interesting, but the delivery method is fun, like having the choice of either killing, doing something or collecting things, everything contributes to a quest
3) Exploration is worthwhile, while in games like WoW, the world feels either…Bland/dead or there isn’t a real good reason to explore at all
4) Lack of raiding and story-driven dungeons, I enjoy going to a dungeon since they have some short and good cutscenes that you don’t really get bored of watching, I tried playing SWTOR and I was just skipping most of the cutscenes…I guess in GW2, I just like the background being an artistic piece of art while two characters are bickering about with each other infront of it
5) DYES! I love the Dyes that you can switch on the fly and customize yourself, it’s something I have always wanted, some MMO’s I see that they do have a Dye system but it feels somewhat limited or are just not very good, GW2 does it right in that respect.
So that is my 5 top things…BUUUUUUUUT…When there is good, there has to be a negative, right? I will just add the negatives too if I may.
1) WvW and SPvP, I don’t know why I don’t enjoy them, maybe it’s just me being bad in MMO PvP since the dawn of time, but I either always get myself trampled by a moshpit of Warriors and Thieves and everything stabbing me or smashing me with a hammer, or it’s also this that in WvW my Framerate turns to smelly cheese…I have a pretty poor computer, but I can still run group events quite well, only with some medium-sized lagging, otherwise, most of the time it’s smooth or tiny lags, SPvP I am just annoyed with my team and getting moshpitted by a large group of foes (I notice I usually get in a team where they fight and don’t really bother to either defend or capture)
2) The elitism involving LFG, sure you will always find jerks in your playing, but it’s really silly when you encounter groups of level 80’s kicking you out of Ascalonian Catacombs when you want to do your daily story, or also demand 5k AP or some of that nonsense (I heard it’s abusing the LFG system if you demand and arbitrary number of AP to be allowed to play)
I would add a few more reasons but I can’t really think of any, so the good outweighs the negatives..But I think the idea of WvW and SPvP and also not liking the LFG to be big reasons, so I am not sure if good wins..Maybe somewhere in the middle grounds since..I kind of hate a big piece of the game
Uhm…Is the Mystic Forge really that bad?
Ah well anyways, I guess I could put a bit of a side upgrade to my beefy levels and focus on the punching levels, thanks for clearing things up
Well I am planning of mostly doing PvE content because…WvW is unplayable for me due to the mass scale of people playing it (Makes it laggy for me…I have a average computer, cut me some slack, people that are able to afford a super-strong computer) and PvP via the Heart of the Mists is…Well…I don’t trust it that well, I keep losing every match…Maybe it’s me just being bad in PvP.
And about the Tanky Guardian part from Aeolus: I did not think of it that way, I just thought it was able to be like that if you smash in everything involving vitality and armor and such, but I guess it’s the other way around, thank you.
Well…I am not really the kind of person to really post builds and all, but I can say which kit is very amusing to use and effective

Hello, I will just keep this short and sweet and straight to the point, also share what I use and see how I could improve it.
I currently have a level 42 Guardian (So I haven’t really opened up to that many options yet) and I am wondering how to make myself both durable and sustain-like while also dealing decent enough damage, currently I am using in the preferred area: Greatsword with Sword and Shield, on the off-chance I would use Hammer and Mace and Shield (Sometimes I also use scepters and torches, never staffs or focuses)
So any experienced Guardians able to give me any advice? I am really interested in the idea of getting punched in the face a lot, which is why I usually play tanky classes in games
I…Gotta agree that the Human faces are silly, I only use one type of hair, face and facial hair style (Well I used a different facial hair style for my second human but otherwise he looks like a direct clone with gray hairs in his black hair), they all look like muscular women to some degree…Luckily I am now more in to Norns now seeing as they are about as human but a lot more manly
Also, how dare you say the Norn faces are bad!….Okay fine, I didn’t like most of the faces since they all looked either chubby or freckled or anything, but at least I found one that fits my long red hair and beard

I am someone from Piken Square, currently level 42 on two characters but active on one of them (I also have a level 25 and a level 18), also I am a Roleplayer (Reason why I am on Piken in the first place) and uhm…Well..That’s about it really, it is lonely to play alone and I don’t really meet many people (Though it’s probably my own fault since I go walk around alone and decline any group invites from people I met on any events)…So I turn to the forums, anyone around from the same server to play with? Hope to see someone around…Also uhm… I speak in English and I rarely meet people from Slovenia, even then I desire to talk to other Slovenians in English, it’s just a language I understand the most

Hi there, I recently bought Guild Wars 2 and well… Personally I feel like I need to add a little background and some honesty to this post, maybe it will help someone answering my question:
You see, I originally come from World of Warcraft, the MMO that is also considered as the MMO beast inside the MMO cave and I did Role-Playing there, an activity mainly involving playing as a character which..Well…The name Role-Playing, but I recently quit WoW because I got fed up with it, then joined SWTOR which I had some good fun from but the Role-Playing community there was not any better than from WoW…To be double-honest I never really thought Guild Wars 2 as something to look at, I did look at reviews and videos about it but I was never phased to try and buy it… And now I am here.
There, now with that out of the way, my question remains: Is there any server that’s popular for Role-Play in Guild Wars 2? Because I am interested in two things really: The design of the world and also a community that does some interesting RP

Ah hello there miss. Fiamara, I myself am also a new player and…Coincidentally also from SWTOR, and I would also like to join you on these adventures that you wish to find people to do with…Or something along those lines.
Though I am gonna try my best in finding a server that suits my kind of preferences I.E a Role Playing server (Been on the Progenitor RP server in SWTOR so far) and well… My creative mind needs new waters to test
Anyway, hope to hear from you, but is Ohio in the U.S? If so then we will have some problems keeping in touch since I am in Europe, also I am away on weekdays so I will be available on weekends only, just so you know
