Would that be related with the Steam client or another client interacting with Guild Wars 2? I think something like Skype could also cause such thing.

If the file Local.dat is indeed unused but also unwritable, then perhaps is it corrupt or does not exist? The freezes you describes also sounds like faulty hardware.
Few suggestions :
1. I would first run chkdsk utility. http://www.speed-up-pc.org/speed_up_hardware/chkdsk_utility.php
2. If issue still happens, I’d try to reinstall game. *Edit : Did not read you did already
3. If not, I’d test with another hard drive.
Are you able to tell if this issue occurs with other games than GW2? Is there something else outside the game that could make you believe hardware’s the issue?

Hello,
I was playing, decided to switch to another character, then couldn’t login anymore. It just said there were some issues related to firewall and stuff, but that’s not making sense. I was playing the game right now. How can my firewall or my router suddenly remove GW2 from exceptions? Especially while firewall is disabled and router never made me experience any issue.
“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com.”
I google’d, but all I see are peoples saying they’ve been stuck with this issue for months and still waiting for a “fix”. Is there actually a way to solve this or should I just play something else?
What I tried so far (Windows 7) ;
-Ran game as Administrator
-Turned off firewall
-Added game exceptions to firewall
-Added ports exceptions to firewall
-Tried without router
Any other suggestion? Thank you.
Hello,
I bought game yesterday and been doing alot of PvP. I played Engineer, Thief and Hunter. I wanted to know if I am right or not, but Hunters seems to be easier to play with. Their bows skills hits for much more damages than my engineer two handed guns.
Pistols also appear to be very weak and skills too. I was wondering, is it because they hit faster? Infact are pistols as good as a short bow and guns as good as a bow?
I also was wondering if as an engineer all weapons kits are playable in PvP? Again, there are some weapon kits like grenades that I would expect to do alot of damages, but instead it appear to be weak.
