Greetings potential future comrades,
I’ve been playing MMORPGs for over 10 years now, and have played GW2 since BWE1.
I’m looking for a guild with a PVE focus, though I also have some interests in WvW and am willing to transfer from my current server of Maguuma should I join a guild that is based elsewhere and WvWs frequently.
I’m definitely interested in Dungeons, Fractals, and getting into Raiding in HoT, meaning that I’m looking for a guild that plans on such things as well.
Now of course, no self-respecting future Raiding guild will recruit someone just based on interest, so I’ll let you know why a serious group should consider me.
My GW2 experience: Now, as said earlier, I have played Guild Wars 2 since launch, however I have been inactive over several long periods due to RL concerns, lack of engagement (not having a guild really into fractals or dungeons) or interest in other MMOs.
Dungeons: I cleared all dungeon paths early in GW2’s lifespan (back before all of the current stacking/skipping/icebow strats became Meta) So I am familiar with the dungeons, but not with some of the current advanced strategies, though I do understand all of the principles of them, just not all of the specific locations.
Fractals: I only got to Fractal Level 18 back when they first released, and once again, due to a lack of comrades to advance with, I never found myself getting further.
Hardcore Raiding Experience: The bulk of my hardcore PVE experience comes from everyone’s favorite trinity MMO, World of Warcraft. I have raided in WoW for several years, starting low and working my way into a group where I raided at the highest level of difficulty, clearing current content through tough progression. (If interested, I can link parses from my old raid nights)
For those who don’t know how WoW experience might affect my ability to perform in Guild Wars 2 Raids, this means that I am familiar with:
1. Wiping several hundred times to a single boss before downing it.
2. Identifying personal and group weaknesses in playstyles and strategies.
3. Optimizing DPS and/or HPS over the course of a long (10-15 minute) encounter, and being able to have a flexible build for different fights or changing roles between pulls.
4. Passing complex personal and group mechanics checks.
5. Being able to commit to a regular raiding schedule over the months of progression.
6. Knowing when to fool around and keep things light-hearted, and to knowing when to focus up and cut the chit-chat.
So, if you’ve read through that and haven’t automagically disqualified me for not being Fractal Level 50, there are a few things left to consider.
Namely, my schedule.
I work night shifts EST with a mandatory overtime rotation, which obviously makes a strict raiding schedule tricky, at least with a primetime EST group.
This means that I would work best with a group (possibly EU) that either is active mostly during the afternoon (11am-5pm EST) or is willing to sub me in or out based on my work schedule.
Lastly, general compatibility is something to be touched on.
I’m looking for a group that takes the content seriously, but can still fool around when appropriate. I’m certainly willing to learn and improve with a group that has a lower level of achievement than some (especially given my lack of high end GW2 PVE)
However, a group that doesn’t strive to be exceptional, or that fails to take the progression and with members who can’t take constructive feedback and use it productively would not work for me. Also my participation in VOIP is likely not PG-13 all the time so that could be a factor as well.
Thank you all for your consideration.
