I’ve been meaning to fix that but keep forgetting.
Haha, that reason feels somehow familiar. Anyway would be really cool if you guys could fix that^^.
Thanks.
Hey,
Is there a reason the beta characters pop up with /v2/characters? For my usage they’re a bit annoying and I don’t really see a reason why they appear there in the first place. The bank api endpoint /v2/account/bank completely ignores the fact that beta characters even exist (since they have their own copy of the bank).
greetings
Not something many people are using but it seems that command line options aren’t working anymore while using OS X.
Neither this:
./cider —cmdline “-image” (you can use any option you want, none work)
nor using the CiderSettings.plist works.
Haven’t tried playing GW2 on my Macbook for quite a while (before the launcher change away from Awesomium) so it might be related with the switch to Coherent UI (not that I could test this in any way).
Hey,
the “-password” command line option changes the content of the password field which is something it shouldn’t do. Since like with “-email” (which does not affect the launcher) you can only use it in combination with “-nopatchui” it doesn’t make sense to change to the password fields content in the launcher.
Malyck is probably dead or a minion of Mordremoth by now, he went into the Magus Falls 2-3 years ago.
The full documentation is now available, including all edge cases and oddities currently in the API.
The only way to do this (at least as far as I know) is to ask the server about every single item like this: http://jsfiddle.net/1zkftj7y/1/
For a quick search, you should probably cache the item names on your end for now. Requesting all items for every single search seems like a very bad idea. If you want some data to start with, here are all item names in the API at this moment.
Also, it’s a very bad idea to fetch every single item at once. If you need multiple resources, fetch for multiple at once using the `ids` parameter. That reduces the requests you need to do by a lot and results in a much better performance (for both your client as well as the API server—HTTP requests are expensive!).
And if you don’t actually know which item ids you are looking for, instead of fetching all ids and then querying the information for all those ids, just use paging on the resource directly.
I’ve made this naive approach exactly to show how inconvenient it is to retrieve certain items at the moment.
The current API design somewhat encourages lots of API calls which are obviously bad both for Arena.NET and for the user. An item search API or an interface like your item_names.json would be quite a pleasure.
I’m currently caching all items in a similar structure as your item_names.json but to build this I still need to download every single item once. This is a pretty huge amount of data just to make a simple search: ~38k items = ~38k HTTP calls…

Is there still no way to search for items by name?

Trahearne is the great hero, not you!
I’m just serving the Vigil… thats it.
It’s good that they focus on security but this shouldn’t disturb the gaming experience.
I know why you want to have this feature, also i’m aware that this feature is very handy. Still i don’t want it in this game.
Players shouldn’t just stare at their UI, they should keep an eye on their enemy and of course your teammates.
Personal Story is rarely worth their EXP, because the take just too long. If you want to level up fast don’t make the personal story quests… i wouldn’t recommend to go this way, because Personal Story quests are fun!
Don’t focus on the level cap, just enjoy the game as whole.
Would be interesting to know what you guys are doing? My first character reached 80 in the launch week and i had lots of fun.
I disagree, you should focus on your enemy not on his target.
