Now it happened to me too. Last time I wasn’t affected. I tried to follow the instructions in this post but my HoM in GW1 seems to be missing all my armors (it only shows 2), weapons (only shows 1!!!), etc… nevertheless I talked to Kimmes in GW1, then in GW2, but he still says I am not the descendent of myself

Edit: I tried to re-log once again and now it works. For info, the first time I logged in today (when I got the message), it took quite a long time to log in.

New daily log-in reward on character swap

Logged in with three characters, opened three chests and then realised it was a bug. Could not report the bug in game because there is no Area/Subarea applicable. I have got some extra laurels and mystic coins from the bug: I even have hundreds of them that I don’t use! I really hope they do not massive ban everyone for this, just rollback the extra daily chests.

Mordrem Invasion Update: 11 September 12:30 PM

I usually enjoy the events and the new contents but this time I shall admit that the event has some fatal flaws that make it not really enjoyable.

  1. Map wide effort: this is the most important point in this event. The rewards are character based and not map based. This means that the more events a player can tag (not actually doing them!), the better is the reward he get. As you can easily see this is simply wrong. In my opinion this event should be about people organizing in small groups to kill the greater number of invasions spawns as possible, rather than zerging out the whole map. Also, people getting DC lose their progress which is not fair. What to do?
Mechanic 1: to avoid leeching you should give the reward for the events ONLY if the player was playing the invasion spawn event (hit count) for at least 30 seconds and is within the area of the event when it ends. When I talk about the “area of the event” I mean about 1500 range outside the “event circle” on the map. You can even mark the event area on the ground with a thin light circle so that players will know if they are leaving the area.
Mechanic 2: the event reward should not be a buff counter lost upon DC, but it should be a stackable item that expires after 20 minutes from the end of the invasion event. This items are rewarded according to the previous condition and can be exchanged with the “event currency” (blooms in this case) after the invasion event is finished.
Mechanic 3: if the map scores a high number of invasion spawns defeated, everyone in the map get additional reward (the stackable item).
  2. Rewards: it is clear that the event has not been designed to be able to earn all the rewards offered by the special vendor. Nevertheless the ratio time spent/reward is not good here. I’m personally after the toxic skins (450 blooms) and I see many players that want the halo or the horns (again, 450 blooms). In any case you are actually offering something for a price of 450 blooms. Even without doing the exact math, it is clear that to be able to get this item, one cannot miss a single day of the event, and this badly accepted by the community. In the future if you want to limit the rewards to 1 or 2 items at most you can simply give 1 reward per account for completing the event 1 time. For example in this event you could have distributed one “ticket” for completing a full set of event (Brisban, Kessex and Diessa), just once. How to keep a player playing the event once he got his ticket? Read below…
  3. Experience point, karma, loot: it is extremely frustrating to do events and not getting even a single XP! Events are events and they should reward karma, coins and experience as everywhere else in the game. This is even more relevant considering that the event is meant to attract new players.

I’m no programmer (at least, video game programmer) so I don’t know if my suggestion are feasible or not, but I have appreciated your effort to listen to the players. Keep up this good attitude, I trust you’ll give great content in the future.

Nice too see that I’m not the only one with this issue. I noticed that my Livebox (Orange router) has a new firmware/interface, but I don’t think the problem is this.

I followed these instructions:
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/27698133-Connectivity
and the results are pretty clear, a lot of packets get lost. It seems that the majority of them are lost before reaching a server in Lyon (I removed the IP addresses and the names, but the steps 2…5 represent the route between my computer and some server in Lyon).

Please do the same test and check if the problem is similar. However I’m also getting the error 7:11:3:191:101, so it may be something related to this. I will wait for a fix before contacting Orange.

Could you kindly link the topic on french forum?

Test results below (check the link to know how to read them).

Edit: changing border fixed the issue.

Experience scroll functionality change

So, I’ve got my Massive Achievement Chest with this experience scroll inside. I thought “great I can boost one char up to lv. 20!”, but suddenly I realized that I already have every character (of every profession) at a minimum level of 30…

Maybe I’m not the only one, so why don’t change the functionality of the experience scroll in something like “Double-click to advance a character to level 20. If the character is lvl>20 he will advance of X lvl” where X can be 5 or 10 or even only 1, it will be better than a useless scroll.

Weapon Dye-ing/Aesthetic Synergy

in Suggestions

Kebra Nagast.4189

I totally agree with this. There are so many cool-looking weapons in which I’m simply not interested because they have a color that doesn’t match any of my character’s color schemes.

Legendaries and other particular weapons are ok to be not dye-able, but the vast majority of them should be. I really enjoyed the new dyeing system, but without the possibility to dye the weapons it seems incomplete!

Same here. For me all the problems started with wintersday, before I played quite a lot and it was perfect (even during Halloween), my connection is good with every other game/application and my PC’s hardware is an overkill for GW2.

Now I can play 3-5 minutes (with lag) and then I’m kicked out and I get this code. I saw a lot of people in game having this problem. I also tried to change the homeworld with one less crowded, but it was the same.

Suggestion to reduce botting

Kebra Nagast.4189

Don’t know, I was thinking about something like standard foes (same name, same “shape”) but with a different color. E.g. instead of red, they are blue. The idea is to use something that is hard for a bot to recognize, like a color.
I think that this type of enemies can be generated on a random basis (like a dozen in each map, especially near the waypoints). But they can also be generated dynamically where and when some player sends a botting report.

About the warning system maybe you are right, direct ban is too harsh.

The real problem is that I don’t know if people can accept the idea to have something in the game that is not strictly related with it. Otherwise there are a lot of other things one can do to make the bot’s life hard. For example, they could implement a feature that every, say, 10 times you try to sell something at the merchant, he ask you some stupid question like “Am I a male?” or “3×2=?”… if you do not answer you receive a warning and so on.

Suggestion to reduce botting

I think all of us have seen at least once some bot running around the map. It’s a shame that we can’t kill each other in the PvE, otherwise I would kill them all.
A few minutes ago I was in Sparkfly Fen and I saw for the first time something like 20 bots running around in the same area. I reported them, but then I started to see how they work.

I’m not an expert but I think that they are just programmed to lock on to the nearest target until it’s dead, loot his corpse and continue until the inventory is full.
So here is my idea: you should insert in the game some random enemies (easily recognizable by a human) that do not attack, but are unkillable. If someone attacks these targets for more than a few seconds, he immediatly receives a mail with a sort of captcha to verify his identity. No answer within a few minutes = you are a bot = ban.

I don’t know if it’s feasible or if it’s a good idea, hope it can be at least a starting point.

I think Blacklight.2871 has put the matter in the right perspective. And that’s why I don’t blame my best friend if he wants to play alone sometimes.
When I come back from work I often want to play “just 30 minutes” (that regularly becomes 180, but that’s another point) and I don’t want to chat or to have social activites.
If I really want some social activity the first pub is only 10 minutes by car and I know a lot of people that are ready to have a beer even now. Otherwise, if I want to stay home, there are the social networks.
But all this doesn’t mean that I don’t like to play with friends.
I know there are a lot of different kind of people, some guys have a lot of problems being alone, others are lone wolfs, but I think everyone, sometimes, wants to stay/play alone.
And if he’s your best friend (thus you know him and know his personality) why you should regret him something? You are his best friend in the real world, not in an MMO.
