let my computer sit there for a few minutes and then I got the sound flickering. But it stops skype too, which is weird. I have always played in windowed fullscreen.
I am actually having the same issue as thIs guy the last couple of days. I played Guild Wars fine for weeks and then after the latest patch, my computer will suddenly crash in the middle of Guild Wars 2.
I have upadared all my drivers, unistalled the game an attempted to reinstall, but the game client itself will freeze indefinitely when I try to reinstall. I can play it from my temp folder by running the GW2.exe file as administrator, but my computer is not reading it as a legitamately installed game, and I don’t have GW2 files anywhere else on my computer.
This does not happen with any other games on my computer, so I am assuming that it is caused by GW2, but then I don’t play any games nearly as graphic intensive. However, I have attempted to lower the graphic settings, and it doesn’t help. Whenever I choose “autodetect”, it goes to the highest settings, and then I lower them manually.
My Windows log in Event Viewer typically says “Could not access ’’ registry file on disc ??” Or something similar (I’ll try to post the actual error soon).
I have an 8-core processor and my graphics card has been able to handle guild wars at max settings until just these last few days. There have been NO hardware changes since it started having this issue.
I did run a sfc /scannow on my computer and it said that there was a corrupt file with my processor driver, but there are no other issues and I have looked through Windows Event Viewer logs, ran virus scans using Avast and ran disk clean up and the defragment analyzanalyoanalyizer that said none of my disks were above 4% fragmentation.
I was running Windows 8, and updated it to Windows 8.1, and the issue persists.
The processor corruption is the ONLY other likely suspect, and I have a feeling that the corruption might have occured because of the game shutting the entire computer off.
I have :
AMD FX™-8150 Eight-core Processor
16 GB of RAM
GeForce GTX 760 on two 2560 x1440 monitors ( I think the monitors are something like 21" or so)
Graphics Driver version 347.88
Running Windows 8.1 Pro
By the time I uninstalled GW2, my GeForce experience couldn’t even reach the game settings to optimize the graphic settings, and now it doesn’t list it because nothing on my computer realizes its installed because it lives in my local temp folder only die to the installer freezing.
I would really not like to risk another processer on GW2 if I could help it considering I could play it before, and now I can’t, and my processor is kind of expensive.
