Anyway, high five for having my account hacked and password changed by chinese people, but still being able to complain about it over the forum. I’m assuming the forum account isn’t linked to the database for game accounts.

Their recovery consists of using the email that the hackers changed. Arenanet, are you even trying? All that brainpower put together equals a moronickitten method for being unable to retrieve your account?

After the first hacking, I changed my password. After the second hacking (and finally losing everything), I emailed arenanet and changed my password again. Finally the hackers managed to change my password.

No. I am still not infected with a rat or keylogger.
No. I have never used these passwords on any other gaming site.
No. I was not phished 3 times.
No, the chinese hackers are not just using a database of logins to bruteforce your accounts — the vulnerability is on arenanet’s end and they’re UNWILLING TO CONFIRM IT BECAUSE THEY’LL GET THE UNHOLY “KITTEN” SUED OUT OF THEIR "KITTEN"HOLES.

Move on. Arenanet absolutely “kittened up” with the security system and customer support. This game reeks of NCsoft all over it, but it’s covered up with the name of a different company. The chineseseses are ruining the game, renowned graphics cards can’t handle the meager graphics, and the trading system sucks “kitten balls”. Also, I can’t curse for “kitten”.

I’d rather play TERA or go make money IRL.

If you can “unhack” yourself, then don’t you think a hacker could “rehack” your account?

The point is that users don’t even know it exists in their processes. Anybody would be suspicious of it if they knew it existed; even if it’s not malicious.

As far as I know, logins are rate limited, along with an email to verify new IP’s to login to your account even if they are successful in determining your password. If they were able to get in to your mail to allow themselves in, your “hacking” is a much larger scope than GW2 itself.

Why are there so many? For the reasons I mentioned in the first post, people often use passwords on many sites, or so simple that it appears on a password list. Even if there are “hundreds of hackings”, statistically they’re likely to fall in to one of those categories, or actually be infected.

Even if there were 1000 compromised accounts, that’s only 0.001% of the one million copies pre-purchased.

Acknowledge fromatic’s post about the chinese IP that attempted to get into his GW2 and gmail account.

It’s like opening a pack of pokemon cards — they won’t refund you now that you’ve opened it.

ArenaNet is not getting “hacked” or “compromised” in any way, it is likely you are either using a password you’ve used on another site that has been compromised, or is common enough to appear on a password list. At this point, the best way to secure your account would associate it with an entirely new email address, and new password with varying case, numbers, and characters. Assuming your computer isn’t compromised, this should be more than enough until authenticators are available.

As to the games performance, I run the game just fine with a fraction of the hardware, the issue is likely stemming from either hardware (failing or overheating), or software (old drivers, conflicting software).

After they got in the first time you should have changed your password. If your password matched your email account you would want to change that as well.

^ It’s been about 30 minutes since I woke up and found all of my gold gone (again). Except this time they also took my items. I wouldn’t be surprised if they looted my bank also. I didn’t check, but I don’t really care to check because I’m probably done with GW2.

Hell, after you installed GW2, did you guys even look through your PC processes while playing GW2? A process named awesomiumprocess.exe actually shows up in your processes stemming from GW2. This happens to everyone. However, it’s not malicious; it’s just a stupid as kitten name for a process.

Anyway, I’m prettykitten off with arenanet.
