Spec for evasion. See results. Working as intended.
I remember in WoW when people figured out how to Rogue tank and then they nerfed it. And yet, it took forever to get the gear to do that in the first place. Why not let them do it? It didn’t break the game. But it was nerfed. And I was at like 60% evasion or something on my way to get there before they nerfed it. Had to scrap all my hard work (the WoW motto).
Evasion specs are not viable in sPVP. It is impossible to evade indefinitely on ground, while in water it’s another story. Still yet, such a spec does very little damage as it relies on Death Blossom spamming, which is a mediocre ability. Underwater, however, you can evade for a significant amount of time with whatever spec you choose, while still doing respectable damage. The range on Shadow Assault is very good.
I think making Underwater competitive is a great idea, and fixing this would be one of the first steps.
Some of you may know that Shadow Assault is a very strong ability in sPVP for Ruins of the Capricorn. I only play a Thief, and with my regular roaming burst spec, I can still hold down Ruins against almost any number of opponents by myself. I can solo all the sharks at the same time. I’ve yet to see another Thief do it for whatever reason – but as much as I enjoy it, I think it needs to be toned down. Ruins is not a competitive map, so maybe you can shrug and mumble “whatever” – but it is still important to the experience and enjoyment of sPVP.
With Shadow Assault spam, Feline Grace, well timed Hide in Shadows, Steal for initiative (Infusion of Shadow/Kleptomaniac), weapon swap Energy sigils, and just plain ol’ dodging, a thief can manage near unlimited evasion underwater. That’s not balanced and it needs to be fixed.
Turning SPI off under the Firewall of my D-Link DIR 601 router completely resolved the black screen issue for me. It also solved my disconnects with error 21/41. This is very strange behavior. But I can play at full settings with the 306.2 drivers, and I have a lot of thanks for the people who discovered this fix!
So I also have a DIR-601, having the same issues as everyone else with it. Seems like that’s probably the issue. Any clue as to why?
Anyone tried a powerline connection instead of plugging straight into the modem? I think I need to try this first. It is not possible for me to plug directly into the modem at this time.
Thanks for all the reports guys. We’re currently looking into this issue and so the more diagnostic information we can collect from you guys the better (DxDiags, Speccy, CPU-Z reports, etc.).
Also, if you could let us know exactly when this black screen issue occurs, how often, if it’s ever gone away, and what you have done to temporarily resolve the issue would be a huge help to us as well.
The black screen occurs most often during sPVP. I have yet to do WvW. I can be in a game, 1 vs 1 against a warrior for example, and it would occur. Now and then it occurs when the screen is very busy and there are lots of effects. But what I’ve noticed in the past few days is that it happens even while I’m browsing my bags or setting my traits. Most often it happens when I’m fighting one other player or traveling between capture points.
In PVE, I have noticed it occurring while I am fighting a mob or two, and also noticed it occurring when I’m just standing in one spot. That actually happened last night. I was next to an NPC, while in real life I am eating food. Suddenly, my screen goes black. I can alt-tab and exit it via task manager, I can see my mouse cursor, and I can hear the music. But I can’t do anything else.
I am also experiencing this god forsaken bug too. My GPU doesn’t run over 41 celsius on high settings, so it is not a heat issue. I’ve tried underclocking tremendously (pushing the sliders all the way to the left in MSI).
Same results.
We’ve got a lot of people trying endless solutions, with many different graphics cards and many different motherboards and processors. How is this a user end issue?
I am having the exact same issues, but on an NVIDIA card, GTX 460. I have tried the same solutions and I am still getting the black screen. Like OP said, it is very frequent during sPVP, to the point where I am getting half as much glory as team mates because I can never finish a match or am re-entering a match with zero glory.
The same issues are present whether I’m in full screen, window full screen, or just window mode.
