Wether the thief is weak or not is not a problem.
Un-fun is the problem of thieves in PvP.
What makes thieves feel unfun is that the most important thing in PvP is conquer the points(in almost all the map) but thieves could hardly do anything about it cuz thieves are not good at 1v1 fightings. If a class could do nothing about conquer or guard a point, it means this class is useless and leads to unfun.
My idea about this is :
Give thieves skills the ability to make targets can’t conquer the point for their team for a short while. For example : a new skill called Brain-Damaged Venom, the poisoned target will conquer the point for opposite team for 6 sec (3 sec while in ranged) and immune brain-damaged for 12 sec once poisoned if he\she is standing in the ring. Only on strike with this venom and run away is also a funny thing. And then thieves can take points (at least neutralise it) without defeat the target in 1v1. They could prove their worth in PvP by this way.

eng has greatest survivablity in this game is true:
the fastest move speed: gain swiftness for 5 sec every 5 sec and unarmed kits 10% speed
the longest range: as a grenadier u know it
some elixir makes eng invincible while in danager.
But killing mobs in shorter time is the topic. every ranged class fighting against over 5 elite or champion melee mobs in the same time by Hit-And-Run have no problem with survive. Ele kills faster than necro and eng does is true while none of them should be killed by any melee mob. While facing over 3 ranged mob. ele will die and the other 2 class can easily run away safety. but i regard this as an accident and this really hasnt occured during my game times.
in PvP. 2 ways in survive:
1, take vit and thou gears. but its useless in this game. ive tried over 32000hp and 2800 defense Necro but be killed in less than 6 heartseekers. its impossible to run away in this game. and not much choice during the combat. so the best defense in this game is offense . release all of ur skills in a short time deal as much damage as possible then try run and wait for CD is the only way. so ele is my best choice right now.
2, perfect positioning. i ve played WoW and got “Gladiator” in S2 S3 S4 S7 S8, over 2200 rating in every season in 3v3 with my boyfriend and his best friend before S9(we quit because class balance s u x). i played a priest so i know how to survive by positioning. and its much easier in this game because u dont need to pay attention to ur mates’ position.
So my opinion is:
Strong Points: AoE killing fastest. Best explosive power.
Weak Points: Lowest survivability. One of the slowest feet(swiftness CD too long).
Dont know how u played as an elem.
My ele is now 67 with all equipments below lvl 50. but im happy hunting in a 60-70 area.
ele kills mob faster than Necro and Eng its true. u can see i have 2 80 characters they are Necro and Eng all with 100% map exploration.
ele kill any mob 2-5 lvl higher then me in 12sec(3 times staff skill 2, thats costs 2*4.8sec) while eng kill the same lvl mob in about 20-30 sec and Necro in 15-45sec(depend on minions’ mind).
u should know this — living is outputting. so l2survive first. begin from know about the skills of Necro. u should train these skills below:
Hit Spectral Walk key while lose control then dodge-roll if needed
Spectral Recall and run in the opposite direction
Consume Conditions while needed even if in full-health
Flesh Gloem Charge while in danger
F1→3 breaks channeling big damage attack
Train these skills into instinctive reaction then whenever, wherever, whoever take you by suprise, u could survive and counterattack
if remove LifeForceGain or slow it down for a 300range or cleave, do u agree?

yes, these are great advantages over the daggers.
Fastest Life Force Gain is most important in WvW and sPvP. the faster u gain Life Force the more hp u have, at least.
Fastest attack speed benefits sigils of weapon such as XX% to XXX on critical. More attacks more crits thats true.
On that basis, u wanna a buff. this leads OP/IMBA!
A little trick for unique-build guys like me. i only use staff these days but i have 2 weapon sets and always swap them in battle. my 2 weapon sets are:
1: xxx staff with a sigil of leeching
2: xxx staff with a sigil of leeching
yes. they are same ones. but what will happen when i swap weapon in combat? just regard it as a bonus of pressing `key.
The minions will be all killed when a Necro changes “Slot Skills Bar” into a none-minion-build. for example u summon Shadow Fiend then u jump into water. The Slot Skills Bar is forced to change and if u have no “Summmon Shadow Fiend”(yes there are 3 m in the skill hint panel) skill the shadow fiend is killed by the god…
This means a mesmer could kill all minions by hit MOA key. While MOAed, the Slot Skill Bar changed and Necro will lose all his/her minions and the skills are on CD again.
Please, just stun the minions while a Necro change his/her slot skill bar under constraint( be transformed , slip into the water)
Agreed. I’ve been gladiator of S2 S3 S4 S6 S7 S8 in WoW and I love pvp very much. Too long skill CD, too easy to waste skill CD(out of range but still throw the skill into the air), lack of teamwork, 2 must win 1(mainly cuz downstate rescure)..
I guess some of the game designers wanna make this game a Monster Hunter OL so there: deferent weapons with deferent skills, turn a somersault to dodge…. And some of them wanna a Dota(or LoL) so there: too long skill CD , 3 normal-skill and 1 great-skill. And some of them still loving WoW but hate the healing skills and rogues’ stealth there…
As a result, WoW+Monster Hunter+Dota(or LoL without soldiers and towers)=GW2PvP… hmm… Can you do this below for us?
1, remove or at least reduce the CD of most skills, shorter CD makes WoW funny and LoL boring.
2, more team-effect skills please, supporter should not only be guardians.
3, turn a somersault to rush faster in short time but cannot dodge.
4, rescue-action can be terminated when touch and must restart next time.
I can’t agree with this at all. 2 deferents between GW2 and WOW:
1, Downstate: maybe a good idea but it works not pretty well. Not only there imbalance between professions but also makes 1 guy wins 2 or more guys impossible. Yes u can “F” downed target but it still too easy for rescure the down guy. In WOW anything put guy in battle will interrupt the res-skill. But in GW2 res-action could not be interrupt without CC and 2 guys save the same guy will in duplicate. So what downstate brings us is only “More must win less, no doubt, no miracle”.
2, Less teamwork and easy tastic: the only teamwork in this game right now is Combo-Field + Combo-Finisher. That’s a cool setting but only occurred as a happy-accident. In the furture just “happy-accident” becomes “tastic” or “Profession in team answer each other well”. We have too long skill-CD in this game so another tastical move is run away while opponents hurl great-skills and rush them after they are in CD. We are not dead men. The skills in this game could not move but we can. We need no pillars in Nagrand cuz we cant make opponent move to the wrong side of a pillar while his/her teammate could not support him/her. There is no support-skill in this game need such careful-positioning.
So. Let’s imagine a 3v3-death-match. Six meat stack together. Then move left together and leave many circles. Then move right together… until there are more than three of them down..What a “funny match”…
What makes Necro useless in PvP. My opinion is:
1. Skill cast mechanic. Yes the game designers are tring to make PvP like LOL and MonsterHunter. So u could see something like MH that deferent weapons has deferent skills and a funny dodge motion. And something like LOL that all profession-skills has so long CD. But have u seen any skill in LOL should cast so long and after this if target is out of range it just waste CD? This is the way to punish fail-skill-use in action games like MH but MH skills has no CD. Please check main hand dagger skill 3.
2. Helpless in teamwork. Yes Necro has great survivability. It is so hard to knock down a Necro in 32000+health and 2800+defense while he/she has DS. But 1 on 1 is not main melody in GW2. In skirmishes if opponent throw me along and concentrate fire on my teamates. I could do nothing but to watch. Yes. I could fear them by staff 5 and DS 3 and blind them by dagger 4 (offhand). But too long CD and too short duration makes that useless. So. in this game.the only way to be a good supporter is your DPS higher than your opponent. But Necro can not be.
Please. This is a teamwork-game like WOW’s arena. We need not only the survivablity. Warlocks in TBC had been tanks(2x/3x talent) . Their opponent should put them down first since they has FEAR can control target about 8sec and no CD . If you don’t put a warlock down he/she will fear u to the end of the match. And if u concertrate fire on a warlock. He/She could prove the value of a tank. But how can I taunt opponent attack me?
