Thanks Inculpatus! It worked, hopefully it works for the original poster as well.

The same thing is happening to me with the shoulder and chest pieces. I tried everything, re-applying the dyes, removing the color then adding the one I want, copying the color from another armor piece, accepting and resetting. No matter what I do, as soon as I close the hero window, it reverts to the previous colors.
