From my understanding, GW2 in the beginning wanted to make it so that gear would be easily accessible to all AND that the new (harder to obtain) Ascended Gear / Legendaries would not make much of a difference compared to Exotics (just a minor increase).

My question and concern is, what is next? Like all MMORPGs, Progression is a Major factor for the success of the game and there will be a time when people with full Ascended will want “the next gear progression.” With that in mind, the next set of gear will most likely be higher in stats than the Ascended which will therefore widen the gap between Exotics.

The Fact that there is endgame content which REQUIRES Ascended pieces (High Fractals) makes me wonder are we going to be forced down the Ascended path eventually with new content? If we cannot commit time to farm/craft the mats for Ascended, will the casual players in Exotics lose out on content and no longer be competative in Wv3 if a newer gear set comes out?

Just food for thought and any ideas/comments/suggestions are welcome.

Shortbow is generally fine and doesn’t need breaking. With the latest initiative change you can pretty much spam the cluster bombs all the time. If you want higher single target dps then use a single target dps weapon!

I would say shortbow is the best designed weapon in the game. Don’t fix what’s not broken.

Not fixing it… but making it a viable Main weapon instead of just a utility or Oh Kittens Run away weapon.

When was the last time you saw (or ever) “Please rate my Shortbow build?”

If you had 2 equally good players dualing with the same class/build and one was wearing the new ascended armor while the other one was not… It would make no difference the winner of the fight would be the one who didn’t make any mistakes not the one who had 5% more armor and 30 more power.

Well, if you play this game….

If you had 2 exact players with same class/build and play (a mirror image) the one with Ascended will win (without factoring RNG with crits etc)

Is there an ICD on Pain Response? Or will it always trigger if you are below the threshold?

I am trying to get back into GW2 after a long break, maybe about a year since. I was running S/D + SB for PvE and Wv3. I hear in a few days S/x is getting nerfed so I do not even want to start playing it again. Any advice for a Wv3 Weapon Set / Build that focuses on mobility and killing?

I’ve tried going through the forums for builds, but cannot determine what is still recent and viable or old and dated. Any info or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

THFs mechanics require use to abuse our abilities, hence initiative. Those who get beat by thieves just need a reason to ease the kitten kicking they just received and call us noobs. If they die to HS spam, they are the noobs (as others stated)

I tried to kick the SoS habit last night and was it tough. It is one of the hardest things to get rid of when roaming Wv3. I feel so slow and its harder to escape, even spec’d Acro 15. I don’t run SB (i used to) so escaping is super hard if I dont have SoS.In the end, I kept it I will try again tonight.

Uhh Ohh.. I might get reprimanded… I run solo often and roam freely most of the time in wv3 /shrug. I do come to the zerg when its necessary and for defense, however, for the most part I’m out roaming. That’s what thieves do, we roam, scout, kill stragglers and look for challenges.

I will give props to PAXA, they are the only group that I cannot troll successfully and survive. I dont run into you guys often, but when I do, I usually end up dead. I feel you guys are very organized when it comes to Killing. I do want to battle some of you 1v1 and also some GOAT members. I tried dueling a GOAT thf but we kept getting interrupted a few days ago. /sad

How crazy, I just made a S/D + P/P Build last night w/out even knowing this was here. Would have helped me save time and some coin on a build instead of trial and error! (but I guess it made me find a build for my play style)

I run a 0/25/30/15/0 build using a Mix of Zerker and PVT Gear. 3k power, 45% crit 83%Crit dmg, 2.5k armor, and 15k HP. My main focus is still S/D w/ switching to P/P for burst/mix-up.

How do you deal if you get snared/rooted/knocked down while in P/P? Just curious. This is why I main S/D so I have a #2 readily available. My dodge skill needs work I will have to add.

Why is this so? do Trinkets give more P/V/T over gear itself? and Jewels more +CritDmg? Must be a math thing I am guessing.

I’ll get straight to the point. I am looking for gear combination that Maximizes Power,Vit,Crit+CritDmg%

I am very bad at number crunching, but I am looking to get about ~50% crit chance, 85%+ CritDMG, 3k+ Power, and about 14k HPs

To be honest, I am not sure if this is even achievable?

Any advice on gear would be appreciated.

P.S. Only Exotic Gear, No Acsended – I haven’t gotten my feet wet on Fractals yet.

I just created a D/D ele to try it out. It looks fun and has a high learning curve with Attunement switching etc. I have an 80THF (non-backstab) as my main and I still love playing it, but D/D ele seems so much more fun/intuitive/and involved. Totally different playstyles and I am enjoying it so far. I cannot wait to learn everything about D/D Ele’s.
