I’ve been looking at the bar incorrectly. So it is downloading correctly, however, i sincerely hope that these blue screens will only occur during the installation and will not continue in game.

Is it possible to get a refund on the game? I just bought it today and am having difficulties downloading the content of the game. I keep getting BSoDs only when the download client is running.

First crash at 10% and now at 85%. Been waiting 5 hours (live in Aus, speeds here vary / and we pay for quota) so i’m burning through my quota for the month. I cannot keep trying to download the game and waste quota + time.

Every time i start the download it doesn’t detect i have a 14GB existing Gw2.dat file and starts from the beginning.

ID Is King Doofus as you can see.

I’m having the same problem, i’ve wasted 15gb now since my computer has crashed. I have had two Blue Screens of Death now, they are only occurring when i am downloading the files, with no other application or games open.

Although i have downloaded 12.5gb it restart at 225k files remaining, some reason it cannot detect what i have already downloaded.

I live in Australia and here we have a quota limit, meaning we pay for xx amount of data per month. Burning through my quota. Am very close to requesting a refund.

@ Caedmon

Perhaps the Control Panel needs to be updated? Mine definitely has the option. Version 4.3.790.0 is what i have. Perhaps that option is only available on cards where managing the frequency is allowed?

Slow Download Speeds/ GW2 or ME?

I’m downloading at 1mB/s but random intervals, normally every 10 minutes or so, transfer rate drops to 0.00kB/s for 1 minute then picks up again for 10 minutes, rinse and repeat.

Must be a huge strain on their servers.

From what i have read this game is CPU intensive. What CPU are you using?

Do you have any other background applications open you could close? (although this would impact memory more than CPU)

You should have the Nvidia Control Panel application installed on your machine, this allows you to manage all aspects of your graphics card. Actually this problem isn’t new, many players had the same problem with Battlefield 3 including me when it first came out.

For example, my card, the GTX560ti is “factory overclocked” by default to 900mhz. In order to resolve the BF3 problem one recommendation was to “underclock” or if you are in a circumstance where by default your card is already set to overclock by default, reduce the juice.

You do this by accessing the Nvidia Control Panel (download it if you haven’t got it installed, i had to manually search for it on Google when i installed my card) , select Adjust GPU settings, change the option from “factory shipped clock frequency” to “custom clock frequency”. Adjust the frequency bar, perhaps reduce it by 10mhz – 20mhz (might seem like minor reductions but they can help with heat, power consumption by alot) and save the settings.

Try it.

My BSoD was caused by a breakdown in my ARP Routing service (according to blue screen viewer) on my machine, which may have been indirectly caused by the Gw2 client since it’s related to networking or more specifically firewalls / anti-virus.

5. Does the Gw2 team recommend that all firewalls be disabled while files are being downloaded?

Hi Team,

I just bought the game and was 10% of the way through (2.8gb) when my computer suffered a BSoD. The Blue Screen crash wasn’t attributed to the game, it tends to occur when i have D3 running in the background.

When i restarted the Gw2 download client, it loaded up 2 windows. The normal download client and a “repairing data archive” window. The repairing data archive completion bar is stuck at 50%, and the game is downloading again from the beginning.

When i check the folder the game is being downloaded/installed to, it shows the gw2.dat file at 2.85gb completed. The questions i have is:

1. Seeing as a new gw2.dat(1) file hasn’t been created, does that mean that it will replace my current gw2.dat file?

2. Does the download manager not recognize there is already a partially completed file? Or is the “repairing data archive” tool running in the background meant to detect an existing file and ironically that too has ceased functioning 1/2 way.

3. Do i allow the client to continue downloading past 2.85gb to see if the existing files’ size is updated or is it best to delete the existing file and start again? <- Tried to answer my own question by restarting the client. Did not load the repairing data archive tool and has begun downloading from the very start again. This leads to the next question:

4. Does this mean that if i suffer a disconnection or another crash, i would lose all progress?
