Post 80: my opinion

I truly had a blast up to lv 80, heck even doing the terribley written story was fun. The way the quests worked, DE worked was just amazing compared to almost any other mmo. I understand why the game got an 8ish out of 10.

Then came 80.

Honestly there isn’t alot to do. Once you finished up heart quests, finish the jumping puzzles there isn’t alot to do. You can play pvp, but imo pvp in Gw2 is boring compared to Gw1 due to a lack of builds you can create.

So your only choices are:

Dungeon grinding which involves:
1. Making money
2. Grinding for skins

And the same goes for any farming such as Orr Tunnel.

You can get legendary weapons but its just not possible for most players to ever see. The prec. weapons are getting more and more expensive, and getting the clovers becomes funny when you just can’t get them.

Really it just seems like there is nothing to do other then try and get skins. You can argue that you can make a new character but people who work/university lack the time. Of course its possible but some are not willing to put another 80 hours into it. And the story isn’t like Gw1 story where you actually cared about the character and did the with the Salad Man would die. But seriously why couldn’t Trahearne just die. But thats another argument.

Point is it would be nice to see other things to do. Even new places to grind would nice. And fixing WvW and making it as worth it as playing PvE would help.

What do you all think?

The part in bold has me confused. Why complain about nothing to do, then when a valid suggestion is made, say “I don’t have time”? If you don’t have time, the lack of anything to do shouldn’t bother you. There’s no sub fee, so feel free to put the game away until more content that interests you is released.

But to address the rest of the post, you should ask yourself what you did while leveling that you enjoyed the most, then do that. Dynamic events don’t stop happening when you hit 80. They are still out there for you to discover and participate in. I absolutely understand that there needs to be much more incentive to get you out there and doing events. No matter how much you enjoy an activity, it can sometimes feel like a waste of your efforts if at the end you don’t feel properly rewarded. Anet has acknowledged this and says they are working on it. We will have to wait and see. Still, my point stands that if you enjoyed events, they are still out there for you to enjoy.

Colin for now they are focusing on open world PvE for now. He leaves open the possibility for these guild missions to be instanced content at some point in the future, with the possibility of PvP mechanics as well.

It seems it could be possible to implement some version of GvG with this system at point in the future. Am I the only one who thought this?

Ranger Build Guide: The Basic Ranger

I really enjoyed the video. I know this is supposed to be a basic starting guide, but how do you deal with condition removal/management? The only thing that I notice you have is Empathic Bond.

Condition removal is one of my pet peeves at the moment. I find Empathic Bond is fine, but it really is pure luck whether or not it saves me from a sticky situation. I wish there was some way to control it, even on a 20s cooldown it would be much more useful.

Other options:
-Signet of Renewal takes up a much needed utility slot and once used it leaves me completely vulnerable to conditions for 60 seconds.
-Prayer to Kormir removes 3 conditions but has a 40 second recharge and no passive benefit otherwise. Also takes up a utility slot.
-The brown bear removes 1 condition on demand in 30 seconds. Not amazing, and since it has no useful CC or damage, it really doesn’t work for this build.
-Healing spring is great, removes a condition every 3.5s, except this build is extremely mobile so standing in the spring isn’t really an option. Troll Unguent gives much more overall healing without any healing power.

So ultimately I find none of those seem really viable for this build. Might have forgotten one or two options, let me know.

I’ve been running a very similar build in WvW for a while now, and I can attest to the conditional removal concerns. My solution as been to run both Healing Spring AND Signet of Renewal. I run in a large coordinated group with my guild so these options have certain payoffs:

1. Both provide condition removal for my allies as well as myself. I’m not the only one in my group running removal so I can cope with the cool downs.
2. Water field combos with blast finishers for AoE healing.

The AoE healing mitigates the lesser healing when compared to troll unguent, and signet of the hunt is redundant when I have perma-swiftness from my group.

Beyond that, my skill load out is identical to yours, and my traits are almost all the same as well. Glad to see I’m not the only one running this weapon combo in WvW.

Am I misunderstanding this AMA answer?

Dailies can be done everywhere in the game.

So i dont see it?

Pretty much this. Reading the part that the OP bolded, it seems that their goal is to not have ascended gear only available in one location of the game, which previously was fractals. Even if ascended amulets stay only available for laurels, and laurels remain only rewarded for dailies/monthlies (they have already confirmed otherwise), then they are already not focused on one location of the game, as you can make daily/monthly progress across many locations of the game.

$10 for another character slot?

It doesn’t cost $10, it costs 800 gems. The reason it’s different is because you can get 800 gems without spending $10, thus you can get a character slot without paying $10.
