I only check greens or yellows to sell. The rest I vendor. I am someone who replaces all my stuff every 5 or so levels – prices are low enough to do this. I think there are others that do it too since I usually sell all my greens and yellows. I think I have 1 item there that hasn’t sold.
It is silly to allow both buy orders and sell orders to be lower than vendor price. I know they disallowed the trading of items at listed price lower than vendor price but I think that fooled some people into not figuring in the listing fee and trading house commission. It would be just as easy to figure that in and put up a warning.
I also think the way they put in listing fee and profit on the screen is confusing. Some people might not do the math and think the profit is the sale minus listing fee and that is what they will get. There is plenty of room on the screen to put “non-refundable listing fee”, “trading house commission on sale”, “estimated return on sale”.
At least 1/3 or 1/2 the items (non craft supplies) I try to sell on the trading house have lowest sell price returning lower than the vendor price. I am still at level 40 so not selling level 80 items – it might be different later on.
Some of these items have 2000 for sale from 1975 sellers. How will these EVER fall off of the trading house? Never. They are permanently unsellable items – for those of us who want to maximize our earnings. Sure you still can make money if someone buys it but it won’t be as much as the guaranteed vendor price.
There must be a huge number of people who have no idea how the trading house works and just click to sell at lowest sell price. Or maybe too lazy, too much to battle, etc to get to a vendor when their pack is full.
Since some of those people don’t even play the game anymore the only way I can think of fixing this part of the economy is by expiring the sale at a certain point. Eventually, hopefully, no more will click to sell at that price and a decent price with some profit can become the lowest price.
The buy order price is always lower than that so there isn’t profit to be gained there either. This vendor+1c buy order price this has been written about a lot in the forums.
The most annoying thing about this is you can’t even see who the seller is to write them a note and tell them. I am sure some are aware of what they are doing but I know others have to be unsure of how the trading house works and do this item after item.
I think it would be more helpful for people to comment on what exactly they consider “endgame”
For me, this states the problem. The OP and those that say there is no endgame don’t say what they think endgame content they are looking for. Lots of response from people who suggest what is available or tell what they do endgame but none of that seems to satisfy those who say there is no endgame.
I played WOW for 8 years and 5000+ hours and did almost no traditional endgame but I managed to keep myself amused by all the content, new alts, crafting, trading, dailies, holidays, achievements, etc. I am not saying that sometimes it didn’t feel grindy. Some of the goals I picked required grinding – like the winterspring mount. But I was always aware of a ton of other stuff that I hadn’t done that I could have. 60% of that game I probably never did.
So please, explain what you are looking for in endgame.
