Look, you’re angry, we get it.
But how is not opening boxes “playing the game”, versus opening them? How is the game punishing you for “playing it”?If you play a MMORPG, and you don’t constantly expect the things above average to be nerfed, you’re probably on your first MMORPG. It’s how balancing works, and last I checked everyone wanted balance.
I’m not angry. I am heavily disappointed. Whichever collective “you” you were referring to did not get it
“But how is not opening boxes “playing the game”, versus opening them?" – You know what else I have that I didn’t use? A good amount of express trader items, revive orbs, repair canisters. I have 14 charged quartz crystals in the bank, up to until a month ago I had around 12 PvP reward chests in my bank. And yet, even though I didn’t instantly use everything I got the moment I got it, it’s still considered playing the game, somehow. So there’s your answer to that
Also, in case you’re genuinely wondering, I wasn’t able to use my computer until yesterday. I would have the bags opened if I did
“How is the game punishing you for “playing it”?" – It very literally is
I had bought 500 tickets, which cost 100×20 silver for a total of 20 gold (plus sprockets, but I don’t even need to factor those in). I used 215 of them, or at least had 215 bags left unopened
So let’s assume I didn’t die any times, and have used only 215 of those tickets. The unused tickets they have provided a use for in the future , so I won’t even count them. In the end, 215 tickets is 43×20 silver, for a total of 8 gold and 60 silver, again ignoring the sprockets
Before, this would result in around 21 gold and 50 silver from those bags. After this patch, the bags no longer drop currency. So we’re left with the sprockets they drop
Now let’s assume each bag drops around 5 sprockets, which is a very, very generous estimate. And let’s also assume the sprockets also still go for 10 copper each on the trading post (which I’d be willing to bet they don’t, since very few people will be buying them now). And now let’s even ignore the 15% money loss that occurs when one sells something through the trading post
This will mean that I would have 5×215 sprockets after opening these bags, amounting to 1075. Selling each for 10 copper, I’d end up with 1 gold, 7 silver, and 50 copper. 8 gold and 60 silver for 1 gold, 7 silver and 50 copper
Which leads us to the finale. Even not factoring the time I used getting those bags (i.e. assuming buying 5 tickets would instantly yield a guaranteed 5 bags), every time I bought 5 tickets I would be exchanging 20 silver for 2 silver 50 copper
This is without factoring the sprocket cost on buying the tickets, which would lower that 2.5 silver to 1 silver, without factoring the 15% tax on the trading post which would lower it further to 85 copper, without taking into account that bags don’t even drop an average of 5 sprockets, without taking into account the price drop that most likely occurred in sprocket trading, and without taking into account the time needed to get the bags
So, in a more realistic perspective, that is losing time to effectively exchange 20 silver into around 65 copper, at most, for a grand total of exchanging 8 gold and 60 silver for 27 silver and 95 copper. You can even throw a lucky Charged Lodestone in there to make things less grim, if you want to
And so I ask: how does this, in any way, not seem like punishment to you?
