I’ve tried to find an answer for this problem for a long time but I haven’t found anything similar.
Whenever I run the client, there is a chance that my computer freezes and I have to hard-restart it. This happened all the time when I was first installing the game (and because of that, it took me one and a half week to install instead of hours), but it could also freeze when updating. Another time when it can freeze is in the character selection screen. It has only frozen in those two, never in-game.
Since getting the game finally installed, these freezes have been more a light nuisance than a match to the gasoline of RAGE, because I’ve been able to mostly avoid them by ticking the auto-play and not staying in the character selection any longer than needed.
Yesterday it froze again when downloading the new build. I shrag and restarted the computer, because the build was a dozen or so files, no big deal. BUT THEN. Then the client gave me this: I have to install +220k files (attachment). This would be a minor nuisance if I didn’t have this freezing problem. Now it could take weeks again before I can get playing again, not to mention being unable to use the Internet because the installing requires all of my kitteny connection’s attention.
Is there anything I could do?

I forgot to mention, it doesn’t give me any error messages whatsoever before or after the freeze.
