Hey there,

Did you re-install GW2 on the new HD you got, or are you trying to run it from the old HD it was originally installed on?

This happened to me a while back with my collection of steam games. The solution then was to move the folder to where steam was looking for the game files. My guess is the shortcut you are using can bring up the launcher, but the launcher is looking in the wrong place for the game files. You can try moving them to what would be their default location on your new HD (the one windows is installed on). If that does not work, a fresh install will.

It sucks, I know. Good luck though.

Small movements guys. 7 days is a good start. Lets run with it for 4 or 6 weeks to see if it puts a damper on things. After that, Anet can look at adding in more restrictions if its truly needed. I think this will stop allot of the hoping around on my server, especially if people fear that the next change will cost money/gems or will impose a time out for WvW. People don’t want to get stuck on a server without their guild mates or friends and have the only way back to be paying $20 in gems.

Turns out I also updated precision X today. its executable, RTSS.exe, is not liked by GW2. I force stopped it and now no problem.

Geeeze!

I just patched as of 11:30pm MST, and right after I click play in the launcher the game crashes stating a hardware failure and takes me to a GW1 bug site. Any one else have this? It does not give an error code…

Anvil Rock server
BDYDG-7i (the robot) and Bamm have died in the icegate gorge. I can revive the robot, but Bamm’s body is nowhere to be found. This event wont reset either, its been like this for a day now.
The map area Gendarren Fields seem to be much worse than others for bugged dynamic events. The one at the start, return catapult parts, has been bugged for more than a week….
Also the pirate defense on the bridge between cornicopian fields and Almuten estates are bugged and the NPC’s wont move forwards.

Great game…But lots of bugs

I have an i5 2500k also, but a GTX 580. I was having the same problem and I figured out the CPU was the bottle neck. I used easy tune 6 to put the CPU to 4.1Ghz and my stuttering went away. OC at your own risk and make sure your PSU and cooling is up to the task.

the i5 is a solid chip though…

Hello!

An i3 is not really meant for high end PC gaming. You will struggle to get high FPS in GW2 with the CPU, especially hubs/cities. i5 is the bare minimum to get an enjoyable experience out of GW2.

As for the video card, its 2 generations behind what is current. Again, you are going to struggle to get good performance.

For cards, I have a preference towards Nvidia (bad luck int he past). You can put together a solid machine for about $1000 CAD. Check these guys out, http://www.memoryexpress.com/
Price out a system and you will be surprised what $1000 will buy you if you reuse things like a monitor and hard drives.

If you are capped at $400, an i5 and a 660 or 670 will do you well.

The sky is the limit with PC’s though. Set your self a budget and stick to it.

I use an i5 2500k (oc to 4.1) and a GTX580 and I can get a solid 60 fps if I turn shadows down.

Good luck!

Try running in full screen windowed mode instead of full screen. That fixed all my fps and stuttering issues….

That doesn’t help at all. I get under 10 FPS, no matter what resolution I have the game in, or if it’s in windowed mode or not. And under 10 is being generous, when there’s barely anyone around. I get worse than that in the city maps (like 5 to 7 FPS), making it real hard to explore, for trying to get the Vistas and the like.

I have already given my specs to ArenaNet ad nauseum, and followed their ridiculous steps for over a week now (it doesn’t help that they don’t answer my tickets until almost 2 days after I sent one, either), and none of the steps have helped one bit. So please don’t tell me I should be posting anything like specs.

I never said you should post your specs for the Nth time. I was simply trying to provide a solution to fellow gamers that happened to work for me and my specs. If it did not help, oh well, that most likely means your set up is different than mine. As far as a solution for you specifically, I have no idea.

Yes it sucks that you paid full retail for a game and you can’t run it the way you want or expect. Also keep in mind its only been on public release for 2 weeks or so. All I can suggest is patience (which is even harder).

I had this same problem with SWTOR came out last year. Horrid fps in all hubs and in PVP. It was fixed within a few weeks though with a patch from the devs, and a new Nvidia driver.

As PC gamers we have all been there at one point and we all know the pain. I wish you the best of luck in finding a solution for your hardware.

Hey all,

I posted about this a few minutes ago without reading this post. My fix is to run the game in full screen (windowed mode). If I have V-Sync off, I get 80-90 FPS and above above 90% gpu utilization. If I turn on adaptive V-synch (which I prefer) I get a stable 60 FPS with NO STUTTERING and utilization around 55%. Try it out

Hi all,

I just figured this out today and had to share it with the rest of you to help out a bit. Like many of you, I have been suffering from pretty crappy in game performance when considering my set up…which is….

MB: Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 (out of the box drivers)
CPU: i5 2500k 6mb (O/C to 3.6)
Graphics: EVGA 580GTX 3GB (reference card – no O/C – Nvidia beta driver 306.02)
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 (4×4GB – yes, I know it is over kill. It was very, very cheap though…couldn’t resist!)
Hard Drive: Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SATA III (SSD – out of the box drivers)
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit – all MS recommended updates as of Sept 11, 2012
Sound Card: Asus Xonar DX 7.1 (most up to date drivers – I play via head phones with Dolby head phone)

Nothing running in the back ground except the Xonar task tray thing.

All in game graphics and audio settings maxed (including LOD at ultra), but shadows I have on medium (seems too cluttery to me if its higher, personal preference). Using FXAA via in game settings. 1920×1080 resolution

So, that is all the specs and info I can think that matter.

After updating to the Nvidia beta drivers today I saw a bit of an increase in FPS (maybe 10) but still saw lots of stuttering when panning the camera. I was seeing a max of about 65 FPS with frequent dips below 40 but with freakish stuttering when panning or running through an area. I also noticed my GPU utilization was pretty low, hovering between 50%-60% even with the dips to sub 40 fps. I was starting to think I had a CPU bottle neck, like another poster on this forum earlier tonight.

I am a colour fiend on my video games. So tonight I decide to switch from full screen mode to full screen (windowed) so I can use the Nvidia control panel colour settings. As soon as I do that I see a spike to 80 FPS and GPU utilization goes up to 80% plus. It is a solid 80 fps also, no stuttering, no dips. Gravy and butter.

To make it even better, I used the Nvidia control panel to set global V-sync to “adaptive” to get rid of the tearing. I get a perfect 60 fps every where I can go (only level 10, just got the game) and GPU utilization hovers around 50%-60%.

Give it a shot and see if it works for you. Full screen (windowed mode) instead of the default full screen.

I hope this helps some of you!
