By a valid response i hope you don’t refer to a response from a developer since anyone is capable of supplying a valid response (which you just proved)

and since you were able to log in you didn’t actually need to contact a phone support who would be able to give you a general answer.

if you have a look at my signature as well you’ll see that developers have other things to do (that doesn’t include knowing about every single piece of hardware, since that’s our (the users of that hardware) job) as well as looking at the forums.

and of course the forum have the possibility of giving you an answer without asking yourself and everyone can answer you.

I hope you didn’t get mad reading this if you did i won’t apologize because i only want you to see the possibilities of having an open forum instead of a phone support.

For this to work you will of course have to drop the requests from the banned MAC’s at the TCP/IP Network Access Layer because of applications which makes it possible to mask the MAC at the application layer.

If you do it like that you can change it as much as you want with applications but it won’t matter because at the “Network Access Layer” nothing from applications is used and the MAC-address from your NIC is added (if you’re the source) and read (if you’re the reciever)

also banning the accounts have proven useless for 10 years at least since the gold sellers just hack another account to use

the reason i brought this up is because i’m tired of gold sellers and for the time being the only thing i can do to try to get rid of them is supplying a developer capable of making it happen with a possible sollution.

It’s alot easier to see what might be wrong if you supplied the error messages, reports and especially the blue screen report (a photo with readable text is enough) and of course all your PC specs including RAM, CPU (no need to argument as to why not since it makes it easier and faster by just doing it) motherboard is useful as well if you can find the information

Also Michael the answer to your question about live support should be obvious and if you don’t know it you should have a look around the forum and remember that a typical support phonecall takes about 20 minutes

Please don’t say that gold sellers are doing something good for the community without a very good argument as to why, because if you say so i know you haven’t read the entire thread.

MAC-address = the physical address on your Network Interface Card (NIC).

I have send the following message to support (which is why everything in it should be read as if it were addressed to Arenanet and NCsoft) and were referred to the forums by support.

I am now tired of companies spamming me ingame asking if i want to buy gold.

I know this is a problem many games have and to me it seems like there’s an easy sollution to it.
It should be possible for you to block the MAC-addresses of the computers which use the accounts selling gold and in that way avoid banning hacked accounts.
If you block the MAC-addresses instead of the IP-addresses then the computer will need a new networking card to access you instead of a new IP and in that way the companies selling gold will get less profit if not loss and in that way they might give up leaving us who like to play a good game to do so.

This should work theoreticly but might not work in reality, knowing this i think it’s worth looking into if you haven’t already.

If you’re using a static DNS this might be the problem.

if that URL is referring to a wrong IP at the DNS that might be the problem.

if you’re not sure you can go to:
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections
right click your network adapter and click properties > then click internet protocol version 4 > then click properties below > and if it’s not at “Obtain DNS server address automaticly” you should set it on that and then press “OK” through the open windows.

then you should try launching the game again.

Your ability to connect to the IP you started tracing isn’t the problem.
The reason you won’t come further than “206-127-157-102.plaync.com [206.127.157.102]” is because you need to connect through the correct port (i don’t know what port) or use your game client.

and it doesn’t seem like any of the hops on the route takes too long since mine takes about the same time and i have not lag.

It might be because of win 8 but I’m not sure that it is. I have tested win 8 alot and compared it to win 7 and generally found that win 7 is more suited for gaming (at least with my hardware).

but please don’t go and reinstall your entire system because of what i just wrote because i won’t take responsibility and it might not be the reason for your problem.
