Can I play with my Swedish friends from US?

But you can be in North American and create your character on a European server. I actually have two accounts, one with characters on US servers and one with characters on European servers, so I can play with both groups of friends.

Since I’ve already been playing on a US server, and the consensus seems to be that I would need to migrate to a EU server, I may very well take this route.

Since I would have to pay ~25$ to server transfer, I feel that I might as well just get a whole new account and set it up EU. <Insert money grab conspiracy theory here>

I think I could get over the lack of being able to pimp out my newbs with phat lewts, bags and gold and what not.

Thanks all for the responses, I really appreciate it.

Vayne, where are you in the US (east coast, west coast etc) and how is the lag?

I live in the US, and I most of my gaming/online friends live in Sweden.

The web seems to have a wide array of conflicting information.
“You can play in an overflow”
“Cross region guesting is allowed”
“Cross region guesting is not allowed”
“You can server transfer”
“You can do dungeons together”
“You can’t play together at all despite what was announced pre-launch”

Forum searches seem to find posts in forums that don’t exist, so I can’t read more than what the search shows me. There is one thread talking about a guild that has existed cross region until recently, but doesn’t seem to give the straight “This is how it works.”

I would like a straightforward answer with all of the information.

If a server transfer is the only way, I’m willing to deal with a bit of lag (I’d like input on this if anybody reading this is playing cross region), but 1800 gems?! That’s ~25 USD. That’s half the cost of the game, which I think is pretty silly. It doesn’t seem to scale if you look at all the other things that you can get with that amount of gems.

Thanks in advance for what I hope will be a series of thorough and informative non-conflicting answers.
