Guild Wars 2

I have been having a similar problem for 3 days actually. For me, the black screen with GW2 cursor happens often when I click ‘Switch Characters’ or if I am doing an activity involving lots of players like WvW or guild chat. I’ve done all 4 basic steps above with nothing helping.

Didn’t know the history of Aerith’s name; I give you props for that. I’ll give 8/10 for knowing the ins and outs of it.

Rem Galad: Sylvari Mesmer. It’s Sindarin (Tolkien’s elvish language) for ‘numerous reflections’. And as a nice bonus, Galad is an alternative spelling for ‘tree’.

I have this same problem as well since the newest update (and never before that). So far, I’ve played the game twice since the update and both times the game froze on log out. Then I’d have to do a hard restart. I have a 2011 13" Macbook Pro.

At first I thought, Donner for a Charr name? But after reading the backstory, it makes much more sense. 9/10 with the backstory.

My Charr engineer is Taen Ferventsalvo. He is part of the Iron Legion and Taen is derived from the word ‘taenite’ which is a type of meteorite that contains iron. Ferventsalvo describes his clan and gun wielding engineering profession.

I have a 2011 13" Macbook Pro HD 3000 running on 10.8. I was running the game through WineHQ at around 15-25fps but there were camera issues and Trade Post problems. With the new Mac client, I’m running about the same 15-25fps but all the former issues are gone and it generally runs more stable.
