I want to disable Email Authentication. How?

I read in the forums here somewhere that using the email authenticator is one of the ways that hackers had / have been getting control of accounts. Is this true?

Also I have been having the same issue but is you hit Cancel it will let you play with out running the Authenticator. I have been doing that ever time Log in since the last game update…

Is it safe to run the email Authenticator is my main question here.
I was one of those that was hacked and lost control of there account… took 8 days for me to get it back and for my game to be turned on again after that hacker had broken the eula agreement. I dont want to go through that again.

Just got back into my account! Came home from the dentist with no expectations of seeing any email from Anet but low and behold there it was!! As this had happened once before with me gaining access to my account but having my game locked I still was a bit hesitant to get excited.
But Im back!!! with full access to my game and account. Thank you Anet for finally getting me back in game. I hope you understand my frustration in a few of my post I dont think I took anything to far but I was a bit childish in my ranting.

Keep the faith other victims there is a light at the end of the tunnel, even if it is a might long tunnel. My account was hacked on 9/6 and I’m back in as of today 9/13

Im right there with ya…… Im 50 years old been gaming since the 80’s in one form or another and have never had this much problem getting customer service to fix an issue…particularly when the cos can be traced back to there own practices. Then to read some arrogant…. person… spout that its my own fault for using questionable sights!!! Some of us have more integrity than that!! ……. sorry just very frustrated shouldnt vent here…..

worst customer support I have ever dealt with…. Im in the same boat…I actually got my account back but, my game had been locked due to a number of eula violations…. still waiting for them to turn my account back on. Even with them knowing I had no control over my account when the violations happened I still have a locked account…. Read in a different post that maybe if we send more money they will actually help us out…. since they have turn digital sales back on with out fixing this security problem it seems pretty obvious that the money is more important than the customers….

@Luridftw are you kidding me!!! man hows it feel up there on that mountain?? “Hacked due to fault of their own” what an arrogant …….

I have never nor will I ever us a bot, gold buying, or gone to any other sites dealing with Guild Wars 2 Other than those directly linked from the Guild Wars2 web sight directly and yet my account has been hacked! The fault lies with Arena Net and there security practices plain and simple. Sure there are those that have and do use those sights. Its just awfully arrogant of you to think that everyone does who has had an account hacked. Given my experience Id be willing to say that the majority of hacked accounts have happened do to the poor security at Arena Net.. come down of your mountain and join the rest of us mortals.

@ GaileGray , Nice that you took the time to answer a question about the Phones How about taking some time to turn my game back on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is my ticket number once again if this will help (Incident: 120906-010698) I have posted it in other threads but seem to have missed posting it here….
Question just occurred to me, Do I have to open a new ticket for the issue of my account being blocked due to eula violations? They did happen while me account was out of my control (at least I assume thats why its blocked) Or will this ticket get the problem solved…. someday…..

How can you guys keep letting this happen? You even turn sales back on with this issue still in full swing!!!
Money more important than the customers that give you the money
? I really dont under stand…. Im 50 years old have been gaming since the 80’s in one form or another and this is absolutely the worst customer care I have had in all that time! Just flip your switch and unlock my game!!!!!!!

at least you guys have gotten back in, Im still waiting for them to unlock my account since the hack seems to have broke the eula. At this point just being able to play again even starting all over again would be ok.
I have only ever had a hack issue once before in another game. That incident was handled same day none of the week plus that seems to be happening with arena net…. sigh….

get a new copy of the game

This has gotten to the point of being ridiculous!! So many of us with the same type of problem #1 being lack of communication from tech support and then the feeling of getting half a** attention at best. Been waiting since the 6th to get back into my game. Hope like crazy Im not still waiting 5 more days to hit my 11th day…. In case it help my ticket number is [Incident: 120906-010698]

My account was hacked 9/6 I finally was able to log back into my account on 9/9 with a statement that my account had been restored. Only thing is they had locked my account due to eula violations. It obvious this happened while I had no control of my account and yet Im still locked out and can not log in to play the game I PAYED FOR!!!

Enough is enough turn my game back on or give me my money back! I have been more than patient even understanding as there are a lot of people being hit with this hacking problem. To take the time to reset my pass word and to get my account back into my hands you would think you could take the time to insure I could actually get into the game again!
