A post in support of mesmer portals.

My main gripe with Mes portals isn’t the mechanics of it, but rather I wish all characters had one WvW-impact ability. I say this, purely because the devs at launch stated the Mes portal was designed foremost as a WvW strategy tool.

I actually like the portal ability (despite being killed by them several times XD). I think it adds great potential for strategy and intelligent gameplay, and stops WvW from becoming too linear. My only wish is that the devs would expand this dynamic to other classes, and introduce different WvW-impact abilities, so that all classes could pose a strategic threat on a greater scale.

To play devil’s advocate (against myself), I could concede that Engineers have potentially a similar dynamic with the mortar ability, but some arguments regarding other classes (i.e. warrior can take out camps single-handedly) isn’t really a WvW-impact ability, but rather just a well-spec’d class playing to their strengths: AKA in inherent strength of the class.

It may be scary to some, but I’d love to throw down the gauntlet to the devs at ANet to come up with other devious skills that can turn a WvW battle. Not unfairly, but rather give chances for smart strategy to shine through. The devs are smart and experienced enough to do so – I just wish someone would give them a push

I can’t think of anything brilliant off the top of my head…but does anyone else have an idea of a new WvW-impact skill, on par (close to) the Mes portal?

Hey buddy

After having a quick look at your post, I reckon you might like the guild I’m part of – Ironbreakers in the Sea of Sorrows (US) server

I’m not a leader there, but have been part of the guild now for around a month, and have found it awesome fun, and made a good group of mates on TS – which is basically a home for our very active members.

To give a bit of rough info on our guild, we’re predominately an Aussie guild, but also have members from all over the place, including Singapore, Japan and so on. Looking at our average age, we’re all around 20+.

Regarding what we do – we tend to mix it up between WvW and dungeon runs. We have a good group of 80s, and we’re pretty experienced at a couple of them. But I think the best thing about us, is that we’re pretty chilled and pretty social. It also has some great leaders, who look after new members

If you’re curious – feel free to check out our very pretty site ~ http://ironbrotherhood.enjin.com/

Also, have a look at our youtube vids here ~ http://www.youtube.com/user/Kuuzon1/ (gives you an idea of our general shenanigans XD)

Hey bud,

I’m probably a tad late but what the hell, I’ll throw my hat in the ring anyways XD

For the last 2-3 weeks, I’ve been a part of the Ironbreakers guild in Sea of Sorrows server (US), and it quite frankly has been pure awesomesauce. Its a small/medium guild (60 members – 1/3 is very active) – but what we lack in size, we make up for with our glorious shenanigans and Iron efficiency (pun intended). For our time playing, we have a pretty even mix of PvE and WvW (probs leaning slightly more towards PvE).

We’re primarily an Aussie guild, but that being said, most of the active Aussies we have tend to be on late into the early hours of the morning, so we overlap with the US a fair bit XD On another note, we also have a fair few people in different time zones (and growing), including the ol’ US of A (hope voting went swimmingly)

Also, I should probably mention, our guild is essentially an amalgamation of smaller guilds, and hence why we have several leaders. So it would be kind of the norm if you guys made the plunge (no pressure :P)

I’m only an officer of the guild, but from the time I’ve been here, its been awesome fun, which I think are the result of two things: several awesome leaders who keep the guild running smoothly (and free from drama) and the fact we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Looking a bit more at our social side, I think most of us are 20+, but the foundation members I think are around early to mid 20s. Other than that, we lurrrve chilling in our TS channel and allowing all the random banter that ensues XD

If you want more info/curious – head on over to our website and browse our site to your hearts content @ http://ironbrotherhood.enjin.com/

The site says we have a recruitment page, but really, the only thing we want in members are that they are good and social people, that are willing to come on TS and join our shenanigans (as evidenced by our videos XD).

Finally, sucks to hear about you guys falling out with your last guild. Even if you don’t join the Iron team, best of luck to you guys finding a new home

Hey mate,

Wow. So many replies – will probably blend into the prior responses, but I’ll put down my 2 cents anyways XD

Currently, I’m playing with Ironbreakers in Sea of Sorrows server (US). We are a relatively small guild, but with a good base of active members. The guild is actually an amalgamation of several smaller guilds, so I guess if you made the move (assuming you haven’t already), it would be kind of the norm for us.

I’m only a officer for the guild, but I know for a fact the leaders of the guild are awesome. They’re pretty laid back, but also very active and looking to keep the guild as little drama as possible, which quite frankly suits us. I think it just stems from not taking ourselves too seriously, whilst still getting things done.

We have a fair mix of members: a lot of Aussies, Americans, and then some in between those timezones. Finally, on current trends, we tend to spread ourselves over WvW and PvE pretty evenly, but tend to focus a bit more on PvE in order to level other guildies quickly or level our alts.

It says we have a recruitment page, but really, the only thing we want in members are that they are good and social people, that are willing to come on TS and join our shenanigans (as evidenced by our videos XD).

But, with that selfless promotion all said and done, good luck on finding a new guild and new pals to team up with

Hey mate,

I recommend coming across to the Ironbreakers We’re a small guild (around 60 members), but currently looking to do an intake period at the minute to grow our numbers. We have a good core group of active members, and are on TS a fair bit Finally, and probably more relevantly, we’re on the Sea of Sorrows server!

We spread ourselves over WvW and PvE pretty evenly, but tend to focus a bit more on PvE in order to level other guildies quickly or level our alts. But I think the best things about Iron are that we don’t take ourselves to seriously and we have some really good leaders/moderators in charge

Ascalonian Catacombs path 1 bugged

Yep. Got this too sadly. Path 1 and 2 seem to be inconsistently bugged. A recent patch has broken parts of the NPC’s scripting I suspect. Similar thing happens in Path 2 (just before the final boss).

Scripting Bugs (especially AC Explore Paths 1 & 2)

Kuuzon.7340

Hey all.

I’m finding some serious scripting bugs emerging after a recent patch, only in AC so far (Ascalonian Catacombs).

Path 1: We killed the final boss, but Hodgins post-boss script did not initiate, so our xp and tokens screen didn’t pop. Has happened once (today).

Path 2: We enter the Hall of Champions (final room) after killing the blobs, expecting Detha to intiate script and then summon the second-last and last fights of the dungeon. However, again, the script didn’t initiate. This has happened 3 times (last 3-4 days).

We have gotten one or two successful runs in on these paths between the failed ones. But this has never been an issue until lately. I suspect a recent patch has messed up something to do with scripting.

Anyone else finding similar issues?
