FWIW (and I realize this is an older thread) – A couple of months ago, in an attempt to remedy a non-related FPS issue on my Win8 box, I forced GW2 to run in compatibility mode on XP (this forces an older version of DirectX). This seemed to help, if only minimally. However, after the Origins of Madness update, I experienced the same type of issue (entire client went to a black screen upon entering the Black Lion Trading company). I removed the compatibility mode and have been able to access the black lion trading screen again.
Unless you are going to kill teq, the boss is a pointless waste of time. No reward at 25% health with a failed phase. I’m better off hitting Shadow Behemoth. For now there is overflow, show up 30 minutes early and stuck in half filled overflow. Disappointing boss (yeah, three targets and half my weps get me squashed) that doesn’t scale to player count at all and is really dry. Might as well solo farm, better drop rate. I don’t care so much about the uber elite rewards, I am resigned to never acquiring them – but this isn’t really that fun – just a lot of complaining in chat.
Thanks for the quick answer. Yes, copper. bronze, copper – similar colors. Platinum, silver – similar colors as well. (and yes, I keep referring to silver as platinum).

I’ve noticed that the price to use a waypoint, depending on distance, jumps from 99 bronze to 1 silver. It seems odd to me that the price jumps by 900 bronze instead of increasing to 100-999 bronze.
Problem:
Waypoint prices increase from 99 bronze to 1 silver
Bronze prices from 100-999 should be visible.
Resolution:
Waypoint prices should increase from 99 bronze to 100 bronze, not 1000 bronze.
