Music Bell Lag Issues

I am having the same issue, even with settings on minimum – the notes sometimes do not reach the center blue circle where you’re supposed to play them, which makes gauging when to start difficult.

Bottle of Elonian Wine.

I have tried many different things, even searching for “bottle” in consumables, which pops up thousands of hits, but when I get to the page where the Bottles of Elonian Wine should be it hangs, loading and loading and loading.

Thanks, Nicolle, for letting us know that you are aware of and looking into this!

Event did not trigger on overflow server [merged threads]

My husband and a friend and I were in the same overflow server (as in, didn’t leave or bounce around or go to main) from about 11:45 PST to 12:30 PST. In that time, I eventually found the trebuchet being built, stood and watched it for a while as they “completed” it… and nothing happened. No one on map chat saw a single Karka, let alone this Ancient one that people are referencing. And then the zone event changed to “Go to Southsun Cove”… so everyone in our Overflow missed out entirely on what was supposed to be a big epic enemy of some sort, right?

ArenaNet, that stinks. :-( I woke up early since I was too excited about the event to sleep in any longer, and while the new zone is cool, I feel really frustrated that I was in the right place at the right time and still didn’t get to see the big reveal there. :-(

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

I think it would be great if ArenaNet could take a moment to explain why they thought a stat increase was necessary. After all, the “gap” they reference has to do with ease of getting the gear, not with stats at all.

I understand their desire to have something between Exotics and Legendaries to reach for – if you put something too far out of reach then many people will decide not to try, and we all like to accomplish goals. Tiered goals make sense, just not the stat increase they chose to add with the new type of gear.

Since Legendaries are only weapons for the moment, and Ascended gear will be starting out as just accessories, I think the “filling a gap” explanation doesn’t make much sense.

I want to give you the benefit of the doubt here, ArenaNet, but Chris Whiteside’s explanation did not clarify things much.

Still uneasy about the Agony thing, too. Are there tons of people out there that really liked being kitten-slapped by Mursaat before they could get Infused, and being kitten-slapped repeatedly even after getting themselves Infused because of the Henchmen not being Infusable and their own desire to not wait around LFGing to fill the right spots to run it with other players?

Maybe I’m one of the few that hated that…

The one time event, and how i'm not gonna be in it

Thank you for encouraging this discussion!

I am lucky to live in a time zone where the one-time event is highly convenient, but I also feel guilty for having it easy when many European and Oceanic players will have trouble attending. I would feel better if I was the one that had to make the hard scheduling choice from time to time…

That being said, you’re introducing a Fractals of the Mists dungeon in which the premise is that there are alternate realities, correct? Why not make one of them an “explore” style of an alternate reality, by which I mean selectable as an option instead of the normal dungeon mode, where the event was somehow delayed and is just beginning?

Or alternately, can we get something akin to Ouroboros in the City of Heroes games? After all, the game has established that time itself can fracture and who’s to say that some crazy … I mean brilliant, of course… Asura can’t find a way to gate into such a phenomenon?

You already have a badge system in place that tracks if particular characters or accounts have completed certain content, so it should be possible to make sure that it is a one-time-only per account (or character) experience, shouldn’t it?

I know it’s likely much more complicated than I’m thinking it is, but it was just a thought that sprang to mind.

This is also my first time posting in the forum, except for a suggestion or two while beta was going on. I guess that’s part of the problem… if I’d been going on the boards to post about how happy I’ve been with the game they might have known not to change it. But I was too busy enjoying playing the game to take a break and do that…

Thanks for posting the link about “content locusts;” I had been looking for a way to describe this problem and this article sums it up beautifully: http://morgaren.hubpages.com/hub/Content-Locust-How-They-Change-The-MMO-Landscape

While I am not one to worry about having the most effective stats, the Ascended gear makes me uneasy because it does seem to be in violation of the “no gear grind” section of the Manifesto, and once you have violated your rules once, it’s so easy to say, “Oh, just ONE more time, and then we’ll never do it again.” It does increase the power of the Legendaries over the power of the Exotics, which we were told wasn’t going to happen because that would cause people to need to grind.

It’s the Agony thing that concerns me most, however. I played LotRO for a few years, and then Radiance came along and my kinship left, dooming me to play alone. I found a new kinship, but it wasn’t the same and I eventually lost interest because none of my best buddies would play along with me anymore, and gating the content that way (getting Radiance gear was necessary to complete a step along the Epic storyline, so you literally could not continue to follow the main plot beyond a certain point unless you buckled down and did it) was what killed it for them. I only held in there and tried for a while because of my deep love of the world and stories (hence my username).

Even if this is easier to get, more akin to the Mursaat “Infusion” process, enemy-only powers that are THAT devastating almost always result in a bunch of my friends crying “this is bullkitten!” (you get the idea) and storming off. I would much rather there was some way we could avoid the Agony through some test of skill rather than just having the right gear. Having the right gear is, in my opinion, boring and more a measure of how much time you spend than how skillful you are at playing, and I thought part of the Manifesto was that ANet wanted to reward people for learning to play their characters skillfully rather than playing clumsily all night and day.

As to posts about “relax, it’ll only be this one dungeon,” people don’t seem to be sure about that, and one of the Dev posts seems to imply that it will spread. In addition, I think the Fractals concept sounds really neat and I’d like to try it, but quite frankly gearing up is my least favorite part of any game – I still had some pieces of 47 gear when I hit 80 – and if I have to play the gear-up game in order to try the new content it’s going to make me sad.

Don’t give up on your dreams of creating a new kind of MMO, ArenaNet! Don’t give in to the content locusts – wait for them to move on and then develop for the people that want to be here and enjoy the game you made for them, instead of the game the content locusts insist on playing everywhere.
