Not temporary. This is recurring content.

You can try again next year.

While it’s recurring, there are high chances the achievement rewards will change in future instances (same with Halloween, Wintersday or the Dragon Bash), so he can complain about not being able to get that mini.

I haven’t tried this yet so I can’t judge how hard it is, but I’ve said many times that hard content is fine, temporal content is fine, but hard temporal content is not. The mini looks very good and it would be a pity to miss the chance to get it.

Pretty much this. Tying direct and indirect (achi boxes and all that) rewards to temporary achievements and content that are very hard (or, in this case, that require luck) is a really BAD idea, and it discriminates a big chunk of your playerbase (those that don’t have time to be 24/7 learning the fight, or those that are slower to do so, for example).

I’m all for hard things but, for God’s sake, don’t put them in temporary content UNLESS it’s recurring AND you can guarantee that all rewards will be obtainable again by then. If you can’t, stop doing this, please.

Do you know what’s the icing on the cake? Ok, here it goes: pets activate mines too. GL trying to have a fun, not annoy others or get the achievement if you just happen to only play a pet class (fortunately I don’t, but it doesn’t make it better as I wanted to complete it with my ranger).

We’ve been having similar issues with pets since launch, and they can’t still figure it out when making new content. I’m really disappointed, Anet.

Don’t go talking bad just yet. I got the achievement, and my pet had set off several mines. As long as you, the player, do not set them off by stepping in them, you’ll get the achievement.

I guess I got the achievement bug, then. Good to know, thanks.

You clearly do not sPvP.

Yes, I do. And tPvP too. And WvW, if that counts at all, where there’s way more water than in Capricorn.

Everything you have stated thus far is based on your own personal observations.

That can be said of you, too. And about anyone, for that matter.

you say 1% of the battles?
Do you sPvP at all?

There is a map that is 50% water and has an under water control point.

You are clearly misinformed.

One control point in one map over how many? And over how many other content PvP and PvE wise? My point still stands, read again what I said.

Also as far as downed skills for other classes you listed.
None of them let you survive for more than an additional 10 seconds tops.

10 seconds is not the same as invincibility.

I wasn’t talking about invincibility, but about skills that require that you use your brain instead of just “dps dps dps!!!!111!!1!!”. It’s the same with Lick Wounds, and other posters have said what you do have to do in order to counter it. It’s not that hard, really, specially in cases like your 5vs1.

I challenge you or anyone to kill me in a duel in sPvP on my ranger in an under water battle.

You will lose.

I’m starting to see no point in discussing this anymore, as that’s the same childish response that almost everyone gives when they’re out of real arguments. Of course, I’m sure that if anyone would accept that challenge they won’t hear from you again. Sorry, but I’m out of this game, thank you.

Other classes have some powerful downed skills too that can screw you if you don’t know what you’re doing, yet I don’t see anyone calling them for a nerf.

Give me one example of another profession’s downed skill(s) that allows them to indefinitely tank 5 players in downed state… and live.

Trust me… I know what I am talking about here.
I play ranger in sPvP.

It is completely wrong that you can hold an entire enemy team at the capture point in Raid on the Capricorn.

People accuse you of cheating or hacking.

People say things like “WTF?” “Invincible Ranger?” etc.

It is truly an oversight in the game mechanics.

Here is a bit of proof to show you I’m not someone complaining about how OP rangers are, and I am a ranger player myself who thinks this needs to be nerfed:

As I said, what needs to be fixed is the dead pet bug. Other than that the skill is fine, and don’t tell me that it doesn’t as it’s pretty easy to kill a ranger if you know what you’re doing, EVEN with that bug. Trust me, I have a ranger too (among other classes, but no need to show our “e-buddies” here).

Also, if you want examples from other classes, take guardian’s 3, that heals quite faster than ranger’s pet if you let them stay in the symbol, or elementalist’s 2, that lets them escape easily from you many many times, or mesmer’s 2, that can fool many bad players. Those skills aren’t OP either, as you can make them worthless with the proper use of your brain… just like with Lick Wounds (read above posts with examples and tactics about how to deal with it). Also, if a downed ranger is tanking five players and he lives through it, trust me, he deserves to survive and even kill all of them.

Anyway, what we see here is people arguing about a nerf on an underwater skill that is used in like 1% of the fights. And maybe that’s the problem (and not that they’re bad players), that people can’t play their character as well as on land due to not being used to it.

As has been said already, there’s quite some ways to counter Lick Wounds. It’s not that hard to do it, as I’ve seen it being done and I’ve done it too plenty of times. There’s no need at all to nerf this skill, besides fixing the dead pet bug when underwater (but that’s not even a big problem if you know what you’re doing).

In my opinion, it’s just one of the few skills (if not the only) that really works now on a ranger no matter what the fotm build is. Other classes have some powerful downed skills too that can screw you if you don’t know what you’re doing, yet I don’t see anyone calling them for a nerf.

Prices on rare items are highly inflated due to rich people cornering the market. It’s only win for those players.

So actually you are against creating the situation when only the high-effort is beeing rewarded?

Wow… you read my posts in this thread this thread… and came out with that? o.O

That’s precisely a problem – your post are contradictory. You are ready to farm the item but only if item itself is directly obtainable after fixed (and as I guess – not too many if you’re so against multiply repetition of the dungeon to win RNG) number or runs, yet you refuse to farm (the same action) the gold to actually buy it on AH. You want to make the items easier, while still stating an effort focus.

It doesn’t make much sense. Frankly speaking it looks like a common “I want it but I don’t have it”.

The point is that people want to be able to get the item after a fixed number of runs of SAID dungeon, not by farming an unrelated one (like CoF). Don’t tell me now that you can get even close to 100 gold just by running the molten dungeon WITHOUT being blessed by the RNG and getting either the pet or the jetpack.

I’m sorry, but it’s your post the one that is contradictory.

Again, it even states on the EU VERSIONS OF THE GUILD WARS 2 PAGES that launch is the 28th. THESE ARE PAGES SPECIFIC TO THE EU.

So we should expect it on the 28th because our own pages have that information correct?

Reposting this part for the last time. I hope that you all understand once and for all that we aren’t talking just about what does it say on the english page/forums.

Also, just to note it again, dates and times were localized for previous events. Why not for this one? Why all this confusion and why can’t they simply clarify it as requested?

At least this thread will hopefully serve some purpose and remind them about this specific issue for the next time we get some dates.

I doubt Arenanet cares about people who get all worked up over a patch day. Besides, all you crazy folks will just forget about it by tomorrow.

Just like no one remembers patch day in November – do you?

I’m not really worked out, really. I’m just pointing out what the problem is, and stating my opinion (as many others do). It’s in Anet’s best interest as a business to take note of it and try to clarify it in a proper way.

There’s really a communication problem here, and I don’t know why is it so wrong for some people that we point it out and ask for some clarification in a civil manner… without being trolled or laughed at by some users. You know, the purpose for the existence of these discussion forums and all.

Also, I don’t really care when does the patch come, mind you. But I would really like that the information stated on the sites would be correct.

What some people don’t seem to understand is that on the official french, german and spanish parts of the website/forums it’s stated that it comes on the 28th, without specifying anything else. However, as many posters have already said, I don’t expect the patch/event to be deployed until the dailies reset, and what’s worse is that I think that’s the plan that Anet has had all along. That would make it arrive on the 29th for 3/4 of the world, and I think that that’s the problem: their lack of proper care/communication, not when they actually deploy the patch.

You can’t expect players to “imagine” that something won’t happen at a specified date on their localized websites if it’s not stated otherwise.

Haven’t ALL other patch dates and times ALWAYS been announced in terms of PST where the company is based? If you haven’t figured it out after 4 months of patches, I’d say at this point, you’re kinda dense.

Not really. The Lost Shores event, for example, had localized dates and times And I think that the other ones too, if I’m not mistaken.
