Simply stated: Yes, I am feeling burned out. Yes, I know I don’t have to do the content, but when the content gives limited amount of time to do x, y or z to get a, b or c you do start to feel pressure to do it. The above post says a lot of the stuff I would say so ^ ditto.
Let’s see some other suggestions. Most things for guilds. Yes, we have the missions but they’re what? Once a week for maybe 30 min? Right now, unless you’re a wvw guild there’s just not much to hold a guild together. Endgame content again unless you’re wvw or pvp where’s the end game? You either get all your gear instantly or you have to grind endlessly for months on end for your legendary. There’s nothing in between to hold your interest. Which is funny because they said we wouldn’t grind and that’s ALL I’m doing currently. Moreover, they continue to make farming more difficult thus giving me less incentive to play. What bothers me the most is they said that precursor’s were too far out of reach when they were at like 100 g now the really good ones are 500-700 g. How is a new player ever supposed to reach it? There’s no incentive other than praying it drops off a vet guard in wvw – happened to a guildie.
And I’m sorry grinding out CoF 500000 times for the gold is NOT fun. And your stated philosophy is the game should be fun not a chore.
I just want DR explained in detail so that I know if I’m hitting it or not. Although, I find it interesting if I want to help my bf get his sunrise, we have no choice but to farm up air elementals in orr, yet we’re punished for doing so. Why is it bad for me to do the very thing that I have to do in order to help him get what he wants? (I’m going for bifrost so for me I can get the materials just about anywhere). If they want to punish us for farming then they need to make it so charged lodestones can drop from any mob in orr.
I like jumping puzzles, I like the challenge of them. The Clock Tower was crazy hard, this one was easy that was until I got a message popping up in the middle of my screen asking me if I wanted to leave overflow. Why on earth would I ever want to leave overflow when I’m in the middle of a timed puzzle? Do not ask people if they want to leave overflow once the puzzle has started the last thing anyone needs is that message popping up in front of them when presents are about to explode and they can’t see where they are going and it’s take a leap of faith while trying to click that message away. So yes, liked the jumping puzzle it was a little on the easy side, but then again you may have adjusted the level of difficulty based on various players levels of skill and equipment they may be using. For example: mad king was impossible for me because of my lame mouse (I got another one for my birthday), my boyfriend who is way better at games took a crack at it on my computer, called my mouse a rock. He was able to do it with ease on his computer. But those are my thoughts.
So Anet there’s only one good solution that I can think of to your problem because I highly doubt you tracked all the data necessary to make it 100% fair. Even if you could track the login data and the event data it wasn’t fair to the players who meet the min. requirements but could not get in due to lag and disconnection issues. They tried their hardest to join but could not. For people who did the event and got disconnected -especially those of us who got kicked at like 1:47 am est because you decided to do a new build – we all deserve a reward for our hard work and effort to kill the darn thing. I stayed up way past my normal time knowing I’d be exhausted the next day but I wasn’t going to miss it. My solution: 1 chest per account in the mail with the same chance at exotics, precursors etc. Yes some people will get multiple chests but guess what I talked with someone in the game last night who was farming it up he was on his 4th run! Meanwhile, I talked with people who hadn’t even done it once despite hours of trying. How is that fair? I tried to get the ones who hadn’t done it onto my server but 1. it was full and 2. I was getting disconnects so I kept losing their names so when I finally got back in I couldn’t invite them. So 1 chest per account and an apology to your players with assurances that you will find a way to track who has done the one time event to make it truly a one time event for them and to track who was there during the event in case of disconnect issues mid way through. I’m sure there are ways to “tag” players and keep the “tags” on them even after they disconnect. Also during these large events I think you should allow less people on a server at a time. Yes, you’ll need more servers but people will have a more enjoyable time having a game that’s playable rather than lag fest. Anyways those are my suggestions. I loved the event, it was wonderful, it was fun but only after I put my settings down so low it looked like complete crap. Some guildies got precursors which is awesome for them. But I stayed up super late for nothing, got up early and lucky me my client got sent home from school for being sick so I was able to come home and sleep and I am a bit miffed about all that.
