My guess would be Howler and Kraitkin, as for I am a Ranger and I would love to see me using the Howler animation!
Hey guys,
since there is no sub forum for user suggestions anymore and all the threads discussing this issue pointed to posting it in “General Discussions” I hope this suggestion won’t drown in all the things that are submitted. If there is a better place for this suggestion, feel free to move it (@ mods). Nevertheless, here we go:
I’ve just watched WoodenPotatoes’ newest video on YouTube. He talked about how nice it is that certain characters move around without most people noticing, because there are no patch notes referring to those movements. Further on he mentioned that implementing a short backflash video or text regarding the past story updates while downloading and installing new patches might make people more aware of what is happening at the moment.
I want to share another idea that struck into my head after hearing this: A timeline.
In the character selection screen, there are already two tabs on the upper right side: First, one that contains your almost finished achievements and your progress during the current living world content and, second, your trophies (?) like world completion, order participation and legendary progress.
So what about this: add another tab that contains the whole living story! A timeline starting way before 1327 N.E. and add certain markers at remarkable dates with important information of what has happened back then.
Something like this:

I’m not really good at photoshopping/painting, but I hope this image is good enough to get my idea across. I didn’t really think this through (and there might be problems regarding story parts that were not experiences by everybody, yet, such as the fight against Zaithan), it just came to mind and I wanted to share it. I’ve seen similar things on other websites, though, and calling the character selection screen of guild wars 1 back to mind: it’s actually the same technique.
Hope you guys enjoy and have a wonderful day / night, whatever.
Kind regards.
This is a simple suggestion: match the Mini-Pets’ movement speed with the players’ (who summoned them). It really annoys me that my little sidekick plays catch-up all day long – and then, the next moment, teleports right behind you.
I guess there’s some issue, that movement buffs, such as signets or traits don’t affect those little fellas.
The ranger’s pets are always by your side – why not let the Mini-Pets do the same? I want people to tell “Ah, that little Liadri belongs to him/her” and not “Ah, there’s a Minipet running around the plaza … but where does it belong”?
If there is any possibility to fix that I would rejoice, more than I want to admit.
Kind regards,
Latrotoxin
I agree with you people – there should be a possibility to preserve the lore of Guild Wars 2 and the upcoming lore (by living story). The priory is one of the organizations that would perfectly fit to do something like that.
I made a suggestion yesterday with the exact same topic. Therefore i have to support your intention.
1[Boss]:
There actually is a world boss at Southsun Cove. The Crazed Karka queen appears after all four settlements are occupied by the Lionguards. It rewards the participants with a daily box (2 rares) and during the Secret of Southsun living story it rewarded them with a achievement, too. (Don’t know if you can still get it, thou.)
2[Mounts]:
Mounts is a difficult subject because there are waypoints. I for my part think that mounts might be some nice addition – but they should not replace the current system. Instead they should be some kind of alternative.
But that’s just my opinion and (actually) I feel quite comfortable with the waypoint-system. The only thing I don’t like is the amount of money I have to spend to travel from one end to the other.
5[New Race]:
Maybe, this already is in consideration. The Tengu are omnipresent and their territory (behind that wall) is located in a perfect place to introduce them as a playable race. But I won’t push ArenaNet to release some new race. It’s fine as it is now.
6[Dyes]:
I like the idea, but I think it would have some negative side effects on the economy. There are much too many dye drops right now. If the dyes were across characters, the dyes would accumulate in the TP. It would end up just like the Thick Leather sections.
7[Next elder dragon]:
Actually I don’t think that Primordus will be the next one to fight against. Primordus was the first dragon to awaken during the happenings in Eye of the North. He will probably be the last one to defeat. I’ve seen so many conspiracy theories regarding “who will be the next” and I think I’ll go along with the idea that it will be the jungle-dragon Mordremoth and that Scarlet and the Pale Tree are somehow related to him. I’ll recommend WoodenPotatoes on YouTube on this topic.
I don’t really have an opinion regarding topics 2 and 4.

Dear ArenaNet, dear players,
first of all: I’m no native speaker, so please excuse some minor mistakes. But I really think that posting on the international/English forums will increase the chance of being read.
The issue I want to discuss is the lore-based storyparts that aren’t implemented into the game. With the Queen’s Jubily patch there were so many questions that stuck into my head. I am aware that most of them (maybe) will be answered in the near future, but some of them were already deepened by the shortstory on the main website. „What Scarlet Saw“ was a very nice text I enjoyed reading. But what if I had missed it? The background story regarding Scarlet’s character is one major aspect of the current events. Players who don’t visit the main page won’t get all those things and start acknowledging her as a cheap copy of „Joker“ (? Batman) – which she is not!
Today, I wanted to show this shortstory to some of my guildmates, because they were discussing Scarlet’s background. But when I looked at the Website, I couldn’t find it anymore. Two more news appeared and sent the wonderfully written text to page no. 2. I found it easily, but what surprised me more was the fact that I also found some text about the Charr-delegation, one short story about Ellen Kiel and one about Evon Gnashblade.
I had missed them and therefore a whole part of new Guild Wars 2 lore.
I don’t think that things like that should happen.
Instead I’d like to suggest something.
You remember the Hall of Monuments? Not the ruins we can now travel to. The old one. Big. Pompous. What about something like this:
Implement some new instanced area, for example at the priory’s spot in Lornar’s Pass (they are known for their historic knowledge). But actually it could be elsewhere – it doesn’t really matter, maybe Lionsarch? Anyway: this instanced area is designed as some big room. Fine and valuable pillars of marble and gold reacht towards the very top of the hall where it leads into a ligh flooded copola. In the very middle of the room, there is a fountain (e.g.) and the light from the top flows into every corner of the room. Ancient runes float through the air and a misterious atmosphere is generated.
Ok, enough … the actual thing is: This hall would be some kind of „Living World Research and Preservation center“. Backgrounds and histories would be memorized on stone steles or maybe in virtual diaries (? Asuran technology). All those short stories could be accessed in this area and (maybe) some Guild Wars 1 lore as well? Maybe the Flameseeker Prophecy concentrated on one stele? Some kind of library.
I know that some of those stories mention things that are described from a omniscient narrator perspective. But mentioning that this area also functions as some kind of research center might explain this fact (see „Fractals of the mist“).
I don’t think it would be much too complicated to do something like this. Especially because all of those shortstories only posted on the main Guild Wars 2 website will be forgotten soon. I for my part didn’t event know that they existed. And people who will join the game in one or two months won’t know either. We should preserve those masterpieces and make the game more independent from out-game-content, respectively try to fuse those two parts.
Or at least (I emphasize: at least) implement some section on the main page (equivalent to the “Releases”-button) especially for the storyparts. Otherwise they will vanish on the (very) back pages of the news feed.
That’s all I’d like to say. I hope that my intentions shine through and that my text was readable for you native people.

Latrotoxin
