I did read the entire post and I apologize if my response sounded rude, it wasn’t my intention.
I just can’t understand the necessity of anything you mentioned, that melee assistant in particular. Fast paced combat plays a big role in keeping the game interesting as well as learning dodge mechanics and foes behaviour, be it PvE or PvP.
Trivializing that aspect would most likely reduce the longevity of the game and bring no actual improvement.

YES
I’d gladly pay 800-1000 gems for this.
Maybe more, I’ll just have to think about it twice and end up buying it anyway.

I’m not sure where to begin, so I’ll just skip to the most absurd part:

-Auto follow target combat assist. This will make melee combat far far far more user friendly and enjoyable.

Do you really want that..?

I hate to insist on a topic that barely got any attention, but somebody please tell me if this makes any sense:

Now, I honestly couldn’t care any less about the health bars, just… the names.
Why does this happen? Why and how is it not possible to have the same basic UI funcionality in both game modes?

This thing is not only visually unappealing, but also affects gameplay.

Before HoT was released, i was reading that Arcane is a better choice for soloing (Vigor on crit and an extra invulnerability frame are a pretty big deal), unless of course you have access to Tempest.
I ’d try something like this Link

While we’re on the subject of annoying repetitive audio things, I haven’t read any news about the air leaks on the captain’s airship after they said they’d be looking into it.

Sudden Low Resolution Textures

At a first glance i’s say that has nothing to do with corrupted textures, but more likely messed up shaders and anisotropic filtering. I’ve never used SweetFX, but that’s what it does pretty much.
Check your GPU settings, specifically its behaviour with GW2 executables, see if there’s anything odd in there.
If you can’t find the issue, a clean installation of the graphic driver should help, then you can try and recreate the visual effects you like.

Just this once, i promise.
Since the topic has been brought up several times, and not only recently, i find it weird that nobody has anything to say…

Weird periodic fps drop every second

Lemon.6015

Character Models Limit and Quality have a pretty big impact on performance, no matter how fast the PC is, lowering those to Medium should do the trick.

If that is not enough (unlikely) try to set FPS limit to 30 in order to reduce CPU/GPU stress, it does make a huge difference on the eye, but a smoother framerate is more pleasant than constant spikes; it may be a little annoying at the beginning, but you’ll get used to it. But again, you shouldn’t need to do this.

On a side note, I’d reccomend using SMAA instead of FXAA, it’ll give a sharper look at the game rather than blurred edges, but that’s up to personal preference; either way, it barely affects performances, so it’s worth trying.

need help to chose new hardware

Lemon.6015

You may have to spend a little more than that to make it worth the investment; i upgraded my machine just a couple months ago and paid around 300€ for a new motherboard and CPU, nothing top of the line but it runs GW2 at high settings smoothly with a few tweaks.

The most expensive part will be the CPU: look up prices on eBay or Amazon for quad core Intel i5 processors to have a rough idea about the price range, anything above 2.80GHz i would say, depending on availability.
Once you have a model and price in mind, ask the shops you mentioned and see what they can provide, compare performance/prices and pick the one you like most. Then you will need a motherboard, it won’t be too expensive, you just need anything compabitle with the CPU you chose, ask the shop.

RAM: reasonably cheap nowadays, you will want at least 8GB to make sure everything works fine (DDR3, it’s standard and won’t find anything cheaper); likely won’t be able to recycle those 3GB you already have, that depends on the new motherboard. Again, ask the shop, i wish i could help more but i can’t tell which products they offer.

And that’s about all there is to say, i would advice buying an SSD as well but i’m pretty sure we’re already over budget, so that’s up to you.

Oh, and forget Windows XP; while understand why he may be reluctant to change, it is worth moving onto Windows 7 (avoid 8 like a plague, i can’t speak about 10 but… yeah, 7).

Good luck

For a few days before the latest hotfix (the one ’’fixing’’ health bars in WvW and PvP) somehow a dream came true: squad and party members’ names were actually hidden by the option that supposedly toggles all players’ names on and off, which is pretty much what one would expect it to do.

And it was beautiful.

But it was only a dream: the patch is released, and half of the screen is covered in blue nonsense again.
I’m thinking i messed something up, that i changed some settings, but i didn’t; i’m thinking that it makes no sense to fix something and purposedly break it again, even if the fix was unintentional.

Now, with all due respect to the fellow players who i’m sure put a great deal of effort in coming up with creative names… I’m sorry, i don’t want to see them, i don’t need to see them, they’re annoying and i can’t even read them anyway. All i can see is a big mush of characters, and sometimes a commander tag hidden somewhere in that mess.

So, please, can we make this little dream come really true? For good?

Please Make It Possible To Choose Dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lemon.6015

Lemon.6015

Not really sure what you’re asking, since my original post makes it clear:

Please make is possible for a player to choose if they want to do HoT or regular dailies for PvE. Not all of us who own HoT have had the time to fully explore it, making some content inaccessible (including, again, today, and pretty much every day since the update went live). Some of us would also prefer to be able to do dailies with friends who don’t own HoT at all yet. It’s a social thing.
Thanks.

Also, that reply you commented on was to the person who commented before you.

So if you happened to have a daily in a Tyria zone you didn’t explore, you would be asking for a custom set of daily quests for each player based on which maps they already have? As for the people who don’t own the expansion… well, the game is free, but someone is running a businness. And i’m pretty sure the developers aren’t paid in peanuts.
I hope you’ll understand your request doesn’t make any sense.

Besides, you have 12 quests to choose from; it’s plenty considering you need 3, and none of them is mandatory.

GW2 tries too hard to please all players’ needs, at once, while fluffing the true MMO mechanism.

I’m curious about what you mean by “true MMO mechanism”.
Judging by your other posts, you don’t seem to know what you’re talking about and, you’re approaching the game with the wrong attitude.

While GW2 is possibly the easiest game to pick-up i’ve played in years, i understand it may not be the case for everyone, although all it takes is the ability to read and follow the always present map indicator.
The player is literaly handheld from the beginning throughout the leveling process, except of course one is required to at least try to understand how character attributes and gear work, and figure out how to optimize the profession/build.
Like in any other RPG ever created.

I’m honestly confused as to how you’d think it could be made any easier: by cutting the learning process as a whole? What’s the point of playing a game in the first place then?

As of March 22 update, NPCs inside the airship are spread all-over the place, almost all of them are now where they’re not supposed to be, and a few even overlapping.
Rebooting and repairing the client didn’t help.

Yes:

- “http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Royal_Terrace” (scroll down to Notes)

The fact that the OP has a totally different and unimportant problem with it IS IRRELEVANT.

Unimportant to you. But you do have a point, so there’s no reason to keep arguing about it.

Thanks again to everyone who expressed their opinion on the matter, and I’m glad we brought it to the attention of the guys upstairs.

Captain's Airship Feedback

Lemon.6015

There’s a general issue:

  • There are certain spots that people will stay in for long periods of time (e.g. crafting stations, mystic forge, …)
  • Those spots include a lot of visual and auditory noise, such as repeating ambient sounds or ‘color’ dialogue (“what should we do in the case of a golem uprising?”, “how many kills? 100?”, …)

The only way to reduce this clutter now is to turn off (or down) all such sounds; there’s no way to address the particular spot’s annoyances.

Or to put it another way: ANet should reduce the visual and auditory clutter that exists in certain spots. I’m sure if they asked, the players would gladly offer a list of suggestions.

Those are interesting points, as they’re showing a bigger picture of the problem.
Now, while nobody can control other players’ actions (horns spam and such), they can control the amount of sounds being played in a specific area, during a set amount of time.
Which pretty much is what they did with Fireball a while ago, and is the reason why LOD is a thing; it’s a different type of issue, but it’s based on the same principle.

[…]And then I find out my crafter gets teleported out if he doesn’t have it in his inventory…

That is irrelevant to the thread I’m afraid. Either way you should’ve read about what you were buying before buying it.

Have you tried going into the In-Game Options -> Sound Options and turning down the Environmental Sounds? I just checked to see what that did and it got rid of the steam pipe sound by dragging the bar to the left.

I know I could get rid of it that way, but it’s not a solution. Muting environmental sounds would affect the whole game, only to isolate a single issue that shouldn’t be there in the first place. Nobody in their right mind would enjoy some guy hissing in their ear, let alone for several minutes.

Ok, it’s not the end of the world, but it’s annoying, and it’s “intended” since it’s not a bug, somebody put it there. An acceptable compromise would be making it a short loop and have it play every few minutes.
Just not all the time, please.

Those sounds are positional – if you rotate your camera position you can affect the amplitude of those sounds.

Again, it’s a workaround, not a solution.
Appreciate all your responses, hopefully somebody above will aknowledge the issue.

Captain’s Airship Pass is on sale, I don’t need it but I like it, so why the hell not?
I buy it and once I get on the ship I wander around for a while, check out NPCs and crafting stations, everything is cool and working properly.

But something’s wrong: as I’m standing at the crafting stations for a few seconds, I hear a constant and annoying background sound, and after shutting down every audio source outside the game I realize it’s coming from the pipes inside the airship.

That thing is really, really, really annoying, and there’s no way to get rid of it without muting the whole game. Can we please remove it? It does nothing other than disturbing.
I get it, it’s supposed to feel more realistic, to which I say: can we get a plumber to fix those holes?

Taidha Covington would be my first choice, no doubt.
Everything about it is boring and not interesting, the pre-event is unnecessarily long and repetitive, way too often people wait for the end of it before jumping in to kill the boss, making the whole thing take even longer due to upscaling.
The boss itself is dull and barely rewarding, considering the time it takes.
I used to like running all world bosses everyday, for no particular reason; Taidha is just… thanks, but no thanks.

Party/Squad members' name tag issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lemon.6015

With the introduction of squads, i feel like we need an option to toggle on/off party name tags, since it becomes difficult to see what’s happening with 30+ names floating around.
Even the simplest task like following a commander becomes tricky, due to the tag being hidden by others’ names or other effects and animations.
