I completed all of the steps in comment two. My mac is running OS X Version 10.8.5. Still giving the same Fatal Disk Error 31 when attempting to start the game at all. I hadn’t played in months so when starting the game, knew I would need to update before even logging in. It tries to update for about 20 seconds then the update fails.
