This is the most alt-unfriendly MMO I ever played…the most important reason that leveling from 1-80 is just dead boring, because every zone is the same except the scenery. Level 50 would’ve been more than plenty.

WoW is worse in Pandaria, only redeeming factor is once you get to a certain level of dailies you can do them 2x’s as fast on alts, but its still grindier and worse by far than this game.

To answer the OP how are laurels hindering gearing an alt? I have been getting laurel gears for my alts easily , that coupled with guild rewards I have mostly ascended items in trinkets rings and neck…not that hard. Also as you level your alt, you are going to be rewarded thru questing and gaining mats, money, etc….I am not one to say farming something to death is good…in fact its terrible. Just adds more to the " NEED 4 MORE ZERKERS PST" crap that is going around so much lately when trying to do dungeons…I would rather take longer to gear alts than have the elitist jerk-faces doing that.

I am aware that this won’t work for everyone but I can tell you it did help with my skill lag and disconnect issues after this most recent patch, steps which I took were as follows :

1- Repaired the game client-
Right Click Guild Wars 2 client shortcut Click on Properties
type -repair after the .exe (including the space at the beginning) in the Target field
Start the client up and it should begin the repair process. This could take a while but not nearly as long as a fresh install. After that is done, make sure you remove the -repair from the target in your properties as it will continually repair every time you re-start your client if you do not.
2- Unplugged and restarted my router. Leave unplugged for at least 30 seconds and allow it to cycle through completely.
3- Removed Local.dat file (screenshot of where to find this and what it looks like included) This file will make it so you do have to re-enter your user name and password as well as reset any personal settings for things in game but it may also help with your skill lag issue.
4- if all else fails try uninstalling and reinstalling the entire client. I have had a couple people that were still using the Beta clients say they had a better overall experience after a fresh install.
5- if none of this works I would report your findings to ANet thru this forum.

I really hope this works for you as well as it did for me I also plan to do a fresh install in a few days when I won’t have time to be on the game. GOOD LUCK!

I think something as super important to lore deserves more than just a fractal. I kinda hope they save the Abaddon story for when the Crystal Desert opens up and ties it into the quests there. I kind of think the Reactor would fit better with the amount of story you can place within a fractal. Just my two copper.

Why? Weapons with particle effects are usually the most popular.

Personal preference. I have nothing against particles general, but they’re way overdone in GW2. There’s no particle effects slider, so if there are many players wearing gear with particle effects there’s nothing to mitigate the lag and clutter induced by them.

To me, after having played WoW in between GW1 and 2, these armors/weapons are tame…very very tame. I mean…for heaven’s sake I had a staff that turned me into a dragon and shoulders on my tiny blood elf that looked like bird-baths. I think these are tasteful and nice. Very pretty rewards for achievements reached in game. Hopefully attaining them isn’t super crazy, but even if it takes a while- that staff skin is prettier than a lot of the ones out now! I will have to get it for my Ele!

I am in the US playing on an EU server. I have been having this issue as well so I really don’t think this is isolated to just EU internet providers or anything user location related. Seems like the issues tend to come up around updates/patches. I really honestly don’t know what more to do, seems that re-installing/repairing/restarting etc don’t fix anything and I suspect I will just have to wait it out. Hope that the A-Net folks can give us some answers soon.
