I don’t feel left in the dust either, but as an avoidance class with a 3 legged dog as your back up winning 1vs1 isn’t that common.
In tight quarters we are pretty hosed.
In against kiting specced classes (cept mesmer) we are also hosed.
The human racial heal is 100% useless to a human ranger.

Avoidance build, it seems obvious rangers are designed like rogues same armor.
Rangers cannot melee like a tank however or match the aoe dps of an elementalist.
Rangers must dodge and weave to survive
The key is this if I can be somewhere else I win.
I run sword/horn w/ shortbow I stacked in 20% bow cooldown and every hit lands. it’s imeperative for the class, 1 so you can get the buffs that max dps 2 so you can get away to shoot another day.
rangers are almost always the first to be targeted in WvW which is the other reason.
Shortbow for cripples and dodge. sword/horn for buffs speed and avoidance. The horn also plays a role for large group dps .. when your enemy is dead you aren’t
weapon mods superior stones for max stamina on weapon switches. If you get 1 or 2 more rolls in a fight you can win.
Keep longbow on hand for assaulting large groups.
Use your long bw for concentrated group fire an rain + horn boost + any other dps boost = dead group with very little help.
Pet ~ Wolf always no expects the spanish inquisition.
I use a ranged pet for back up sometimes positioning of your pet is just as critical, and the dps is unexpected when it’s not sitting in front of them. Which means more badges.

I’ve seen1 thief sit inside of a fort in WvWvW and camp everyone that didn’t folow the zerg and single handedly take 3+ players 20 minutes to dislodge. It has nothing to do with skill and more to do with understanding the limitations of your opponents.
The problem isn’t just against new players it’s also where terrain advantage works in there favor. Tight quarters and no mobility .. so any puzzle or small room where the thief can “reset” their advantage quickly so stairs next to roofs where theie is multiple escapes and terrain to dodge around. You cannot evade if you 1 have no where to run and 2 have no way to take advantage of a thief who screws up.
Also lick wounds not only does nothing (after using self heal when down)
, it negates the other res self function .. sometimes they work “together” but it’s rare or out of combat.
I read a good deal of the bugs but didn’t have time to read all of them. The auto attack seems to have funny triggers especially when in melee combo mode. Sometimes it will turn on and off again at will depending on how long I depress the 1 key. Also, just want to second the other worst bug imho, being locked into combat while using sword~
