This is not a troll I am just curious about whether or not anyone else feels this way.

The first class i leveled to 80 was an engineer and i was pretty happy with it. Lots of different ways to play can be pretty fun. I started leveling alts and what i began to find was that the majority of our skills…. are just copy and paste from another class

Copy class specific ability from another profession and subtract 20% or greater from effect. When it comes to the engineers skills not a whole lot of orignality truly exists. Toolkit is warrior hammer skill number 1, plus weak version of caltrops, prybar is unique, gear shield is just warrior shield number 5, magnetic pull is scorpion wire without an animation. One of our elite skills a 50/50 chance at a profession elite that most people that play that profession do not even use. It feels like engineers were an afterthought. Turrets are the only thing unique about the engineer and they blow.

I enjoy having the utility. But when much of what you do is just a reduced effectiveness version of something another class has readily available access to it really kills you in a game where only a limited number of skills can be used. I find it causes us to constantly be falling behind….

Asura - Grenade LOS issues WVW

Do all races of Engineers have the issues that i do throwing grenades from towers and keeps in WvWvW. 80% of the time i get LOS issues or my grenades explode directly on the side of the wall. Is this working as intended?

to be honest every skill on the toolkit has its place its just very situational. I dont know if i could do wvw without it tho its just too handy to have another 3 seconds of blocking and the ability to pull people off walls.

I agree smapty. Its simply due to the fact that you have a lot more buttons to push then most. And the majority of the skills are situation dependent.

I agree with OP it seems to me like getting a legendary now is more legendary then it was a month ago thats for certain.

My problem with legendary items atm isnt obtaining them. Its there being one i want to obtain. As an engineer who plays shield + pistol, and uses kits 90% of the time. There is no reason for me to obtain a cool weapon skin. Especially not when choices are a Sniper Rifle used at close range a shield with a book on it, and a gun that shoots bubbles. Twighlight is an absolutely amazing and worthwhile weapon skin, i just wish some of the others got as much attention from the development team because from what i have seen of legendaries it seems like the 2 Greatswords (why are there 2 btw??) and the 2h hammer have had 1000x the work done on them that the others have.

P.S. How about a Legendary Rifle skin that looks like a pumpaction shotgun for engineers that would be nice.

I run Pistol Shield elixir gun bombs and toolkit. Nice thing about speccing bombs is you can grenadier yourself at a moments notice. For the normal fights where the boss isnt standing in 1 place for the entire fight, I find that having bombs plus toolkit and elixir gun helps the group far more then just standing way back and watching the rest of my group facepalm while getting beat on. Its also a lot more fun and requires a lot more skill.

Be malleable, for example in condition heavy fights ill load up on some condition removal, Some fights healing turret works others your better off with med kit. Grenades works great on some bosses others it doesnt. If you are trying to do swamp fractal running with grenades and 3 elixirs…. you are doing it wrong.

So what your saying is they have to select their utility skills just to be able to do it.. ok yah not the same thing if that was the case we could have what? let me count. 5or 6?

How many fields do they have access to? 1. Engineers have access to 6..

You dont want an attack on block… It stops you from blocking…. Would you rather see, block,block,block,block,block,block,block. OR block, 1000dmg, death.
Toolkit is great it allows you with pistol mh and bomb kit to get 10 stacks of confusion. I LOVE seeing 2900dmg because someone or something tried to do something.

Yah you know what some of our utility skills are subpar compared to other classes…. Anyone ever stop to think that…. hey.. we have pretty much ALL of the utility skills… know any other class that can drop more blast finishers in a row?? Engineers imo are the best class in the game…. WHY? because we can access to like… 26 skills at the same time in one build if we want to ….. That leaves a tonne of choices…. Thieves do single target dps very well and they should. Scorpion Wire is better then Magnetic pull and it should be… WHY??? because they dont have access to 2 aoe knockbacks and 2 block skills at the SAME time. Engineers are the jack of all trades. If all our utilities that we borrowed from other classes were as good… it would be horribly inbalanced.

I would recommend getting at least some Toughness and Vitality your not going to be able to dodge everything in dungeons later on and you cant do very much dps lying on your back.
Engineer downed skills don’t always allow for an easy pick up like some other classes do so you will want to avoid being downed as much as possible. Numbers wise grenades have the highest damage co-efficient for the class. That being said they can be very difficult to use and its boring as hell throwing grenades from 1500 yards away all the time. I recommend more then anything else being flexible. Try everything out and you will find that the playstyles have pro’s and cons. Engineer is a very diverse class with many many many combinations of abilities. Condition dmg and precision will be the best for dual pistol tho… i dont recommend min maxing for just cond dmg precision and power.
